Leona Heidern / Re: Leona Heidern (Console)
« on: June 10, 2013, 01:18:18 AM »
So I switched to a Korean stick recently and I'm having some issues doing Leon's V-Slasher( along with some other stuff but that will come with practice) I'm winding if doing the qcfX2~b short cut would be good to learn to help with the circle gate or should I just practice doing the move normally( which would be my preferred method). Also is it worth using these short cuts at all?

NOTE: If your going to be late PM me on here or on my Facebook(at the bottom of this post), or call //dotgames and inform them

Tournaments (Singles):
-Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3)
-Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (PS3)
-Mortal Kombat 9(PS3)
-King of Fighters XIII(360)

Rules:
-Double Elimination Bracket, seeded by location
-ALL matches between players are a set of three games, with the exception of Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals which are 3 out of 5 matches.
-Prizes are given out to winners at the end of the tournament

-B.Y.O.C. (No controllers will be provided by the tournament organizers or //dotgames) This is important. Make sure you can borrow from someone if you do not have a controller. It helps to keep things flowing smoothly.
-Wireless controllers are prohibited. This is due to syncing up with other systems and potentially pausing the players' match next to you. This also makes switching controllers much faster. If you have a wireless controller, the battery pack needs to be removed and a wire needs to be used.

Please keep an eye on your breakaway cables! Make sure you remove them from the consoles! Try to have some sort of identification on your controllers/sticks!

-Be punctual. Do not be late for your matches. We will be calling out names, so listen up! If you're leaving or stepping out for a bit, let us (the tournament organizers) know. Makes things much easier, but don't disappear for undue lengthy amounts of time. We don't want to have to DQ anyone, but reserve that right in order to keep the tournament flowing as smoothly as possible.

-Pausing during a match is grounds for a disqualification/loss of that GAME. This is ultimately left up to the other player in order to decide whether or not to continue the match.

In-game specific rules:
-Winner must keep the same team (this means same exact order and same exact assists) (MvC3)
-Freddy and Kratos are banned( MK9)
-Winner must keep same character, may change ultra (SSF4:AE)
-Winner keeps the same characters, may change order(KOFXIII)
-Blanka Alt. Costume 3 is banned. (SSF4:AE)

Requests from the TOs:
If you have a setup that can be used for the tournament, PLEASE let us know. Shoot me a PM, email, or IM.
A setup consists of a display (lag free monitor--ASUS monitors are winners here) and a console (PS3 please). We need the monitors over consoles mostly.

SRK(or at least its members) talking Ish about KOF's netcode, but half of them have never even been on this site or have seen or experienced what we have with this game. I always wonder why people trust SRK over this site for KOF stuff or Dustloop for Atlus games. I just don't get SRKs members.

Sup guys With KOFXIII right around the corner I'm trying to improve my game but being that I don't have a lot of experience (playing competitively for a year) or  really good gamers around me and the gamers that are near me don't play the type of characters that I do (strategy based playstyle) and none of them have any KOF experience. I tend to ask a lot of questions so I just made this thread so I don't clutter the forums with questions in the wrong place or ones that are more personal and are only helpful to myself.

I'm having some trouble doing Leona's V-Slasher form forward hop and forward hyper hop. I play on a LS-56 stick with an octa gate. It seems to me that I have the most trouble going form up-forward to  down or down to up-forward then back down. I have this problems in every game doing up forward moves( it might be because I'm left handed) When I try to do the V-Slasher of forward hop I move the stick up forward with the very bottom of my index and ring finger( where the fingers connect to the palm) then I bring both of those fingers down and enter the rest of the V-Slasher motion.  And its the same for the hyper hop but you add a down motion before the up forward. I ride the gate through this whole motion btw. And i play on my lap

The type of grip I use
