Andy Bogard / Re: Andy Bogard (Console)
« on: February 15, 2014, 07:15:40 PM »
I play him on point, where I feel he's strongest.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel that outside of select situations, you should never spend meter as Andy.

Using EX Hishouken means you're probably in a really bad/awkward situation you shouldn't be in. EX Zaneiken is basically a gimmick, as is EX Kuuhadan (how I miss this move's invincibility). EX Shoryudan can help you get out of the corner if you feel that it's worth spending the meter, but otherwise it's pretty mediocre.

What I'm getting at is that none of Andy's EX moves solve any problem that can't be solved by just playing better.

As for damage, I don't feel that it's worth it unless it's going to kill. Andy's meterless damage is already so good that spending any meter or (especially) drive is basically a waste.

I've always felt that Andy was a purpose built point character, and I think that moreso than ever now. As long as you've built up enough meter for your next character (in my case, Shen) to do some damage with, who cares if you lost? Having a meter lead with a character who can optimize it is worth losing a point character, if you ask me.

If Andy's your second character, I guess you can somewhat justify spending meter on combos, but I still feel that it's sub-optimal. If Andy's your anchor, get a better one.

General Discussion / Something I noticed about practice mode
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:26:00 PM »
If you properly time your meaties in practice mode, it will actually prevent the CPU's health regain. Note that even if you have recovery (Passive Move) off, this only applies to moves that score hard knockdowns.

Should be useful for people who still need to get meaty timing down!

Offline Matchmaking / Re: NorCal KOF!

Hey, everyone!!

I'm seriously considering opening up an arcade in Cupertino.  It'd be a pay for the hour type thing with XBOX 360s and HDTVs.  I'd have all the current FGs and streaming there.  Eventually in a year or more when KoF XIV comes out I will buy the cabinet day one.  Is this sounding good to anyone??  I just wanna see overall interest.

Thanks!!

cupertino probably has a good number of closet players, but it's also close enough to both sj and the peninsula to attract people that live there.

i'd try to get it as close to de anza as possible.

Classic King of Fighters / Re: I love KOF XII

3. Camera zoom. It's classic SNK to have the camera zoom in during close combat. It also adds a layer of intensity to the close combat.

you LIKE the zoom? they zoomed in way too close to the sprites (like 1.75x or something) and ended up making them look... bad. and that's hard to do, as i agree with

4. Graphics. XII is one of the most visually stunning 2D fighters ever made.

(sans the zoom, of course)

i'd be glad to play some online deathmatches with anyone. infinite blockstrings with dragon and ryoko are just too hype.

Vice / Re: Vice

alright, so a couple things.

first off, is there any distance where weak shoulder is safe on block? i tried doing cr.B x3 weak shoulder as a blockstring (98 style baby!) but i got punished.

also, is it optimal to dreamcancel shoulder into ex dacide? or are there better ways to do (metered) damage off of cr.B?
