SNK Games / NeoGeo Pocket Returns (!?!?)
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:24:28 AM »
Not sure what to make of this news. Adriasang reports:

Quote from: Andriasang
Following its first failed attempt with Neo Geo Pocket, SNK is lending its name to a new portable gaming device.

Famicom Plaza has a look at at the new device, which carries official licensing from SNK Playmore. The device, currently going by the placeholder name of "Neo Geo Portable Device," has 4.3 inch screen, two gigabytes of internal storage, and ships with 20 Neo Geo classics built in:

    1.WORLD HEROES
    2.ULTIMETE 11
    3.TOP PLAYER'S GOLF
    4.SENGOKU
    5.NAM-1975
    6.MUTATION NATION
    7.LAST RESORT
    8.KING OF MONSTERS
    9.FRENZY
    10.CYBER LIP
    11.FATAL FURY SPECIAL
    12.ART OF FIGHTING
    13.SUPER SIDEKICKS
    14.LEAGUE BOWLING
    15.METAL SLUG
    16.MAGICAL LORD
    17.BASEBALL STARS PROFESSIONAL
    18.SAMURAI SHODOWN
    19.KING OF FIGHTERS '94
    20.FATAL FURY

The games are all the North American versions with English.

According to the Famicom Plaza report, the device is 170x72x15mm and is a bit larger than an iPhone-like smartphone. It has a 2200mAh battery.

Controls on the device include four face buttons, a d-pad, four shoulder buttons, a menu button, a start button, and buttons for volume and brightness. Ports include headphones, AV and an SD.

No details yet on pricing or release date. Famicom Plaza's report does not list the maker.

So, it's not actually a new NeoGeo Pocket, but a handheld that emulates NeoGeo games.

My interest in the device will depend on:

1. Are the built games the only ones I can ever play, or can I download others? SD card and 2GB internal memory certainly suggest yes.

2. Is the joystick as good as the NeoGeo Pocket?

3. How does multiplayer work?

4. Price, obviously.

Leona Heidern / Leona Heidern Wiki Thread
« on: December 13, 2011, 01:19:17 AM »
Leona Heidern is awesome, and deserves an awesome Wiki page.

http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Leona_Heidern_%28XIII%29

And while I think we have a good start here, the wiki isn't quite as awesome as Leona deserves. A lot of the move descriptions and combo damage values are based on the arcade version and need to be updated.

If you like Leona and want other people to enjoy Leona as well, please help us out by

- offering any tips, advice or info you think is useful
- suggesting more combos, or just checking damage values for existing combos
- posting sexy pictures of Leona (These won't be added to the wiki, but they're still appreciated.)

Welcome to the Ralf Jones Wiki Thread!

This is Ralf's wiki page and, like every characters' wiki page, it's still a work in progress. If you have anything you'd like to contribute to the page (strategies, combos, corrections, or just random tips), please post it here!

And a huge thanks to our contributors so far (from the old character thread):

Site Suggestions and Troubleshooting / Thread clutter
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:09:03 PM »
This is a small thing, but I was wondering if there was any way to reduce the clutter caused by members' sig pictures. Even though I like most of them, it's a bit annoying to scroll past the same picture so many times. Possible solutions I've seen on other forums are:

1. A smaller limit to sig sizes.

2. A sig can only appear once per page.

I don't know if either of these are options here. And maybe I'm the only person who would want to see one (or both) of these things happen. Just wanted to toss out my suggestion.  :)

Offline Matchmaking / Seattle, Washington

I'm planning to move to Seattle later this year. I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask early.

Any SNK fans in Seattle?

Classic King of Fighters / King of Fighters NeoWave

This is a topic for KOF NeoWave.

Because I recently picked up a used copy of the game. I've never really given it a chance. So, does anyone else have the game? Anyone still play it? What's up with the art, eh? Which mode/groove do you guys prefer?
