Mr. Karate / Re: EX Mr. Karate
« on: January 10, 2012, 09:18:54 PM »
I really like Mr.Karate. You can Jump cancel ST.B only on hit as well as  cr.D (good mixups afterwards for those who tech up). I kind of wish it was on it block as well because, that would make for some nasty cross over/over head 50/50 setups. Though, if you're willing to sacrifice a j.D - St.B hit confirm for more mind games/more damage then go for it. St.B on hit confirm can be canceled into Neo Max or, for more damage J.D -> (HIT CONFIRM) ST.B -> 6C -> Neo Max = 314 total damage. Without the J.D hit confirm the damage scales up to 333.

He can Link St.D (close) into ST.B. which makes a nice block string. Most people won't realize this due to the long recovery animation of his standing B and, try to attack. If the timing is done successfully and, your opponent tries to attack after st.D they'll eat the ST.B.

Hitting Lk+LP after strong DP can cause his DP to have less recovery (Not sure if I said that right)? It makes so that on hit you can follow up with other attacks on hit (light DP/supers/Neo max/etc..). His QCF+ ;b can be dash cancelled as well on hit/block.

He can jump-cancel standing weak kick into weak HSK for a combo, and this can be drive cancelled into his EX HSK for the crazy carry again.

Would have never known that if it wasn't for you lol. thnx. I already have some corner resets in mind now lol.

(SAB CA Edit- Just merging the 2 post, lol. And glad to have helped!)

ggs to o summy G; on xbl. Fun morning matches. All your characters are good but, I had bit of a tough time dealing with your Elizabeth corner mix ups.

Iori Yagami (Claw) / Re: Iori Yagami (Console)

came up with a quick character kill setup out of one of the trial mode combos + hyperdrive

HyperDrive, crouch ;b, ;a;fd ;a;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk ;b, Drive Cancel   ;bk ;db ;dn ;df ;fd ;c;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk ;d;dn ;df ;fd ;dn ;df ;fd ;b ;d

I think it was trial 3 or 4, that drive cancel is a very nice way into the command throw. this costs 3 bars and I saw it doing at least 75% health with the right timing; get in, do a short combo, yatagarasu makes the kill.

True but, for beginners I think vs. people who enjoy holding down back. Though for beginners his HD akegarasu into shougetsu rekas will lead to the same amount of damage without using his neo max. Actually, while in HD mode ending his rekas into his command throw with  ;dn ;db ;bk + ;d then yaotome (level 1 super) should get you about 75% damage.

BTW most people already know but, if anyone doesn't vs. projectile happy people; EX Akegarasu ( ;dn ;db ;bk ;b + ;d) will go through projectiles. It will not travel full screen distance, best used at half screen. So it's good if you can bait out projectiles, also has combo potential if used in corner, but will require you to sacrifice some stock and, meter (but the damage is worth it.)

Pro-Gear / Re: Fight Sticks?

People with multiple consoles looking for a stick should probably wait til this comes out.

http://shoryuken.com/2011/12/04/joy-tron-announces-exchanger-dual-console-arcade-stick-with-sanwa-or-korean-parts/

Dual korean top of the line arcade stick. It's super easy to open and, mod as well. When I say super easy to open and, I mean just the touch of a button to pop the top open.

Yeah just finished experimenting with it. Strictly DP motion, I got it to work a few times but, like you said it's tough.

When I try doing his  ;fd ;dn ;df+ ;c into  ;dn ;df ;fd+ ;a ;c he super cancels.

Same for his  ;fd ;dn ;df ;c into  ;dn ;db ;bk+ ;a

Any reason on why this happens? Or how to get the correct move that I want to come out?

Okay bought Iori 98 today and, love him. Problem is, everytime I do  ;fd ;dn ;df+ ;c then try to do  ;dn ;df ;fd+ ;a ;c it super cancels instead of drive cancel's into ex fireball.

Same issue with his  ;fd ;dn ;df;c into  ;dn ;db ;bk + ;a it super cancel's into his can of whoop ass (not what it's called of course). Am I doing something wrong? Is there a quick, shortcut, or is it just all done in 1f like SF combo's?

During aerial juggles or, in general?

10
I usually do it in the corner after  ;bk / ;fd ;a during a juggle. During the hit animation hit   ;a ;b ;c  really fast then run and, hit  ;d. For jump in's if you hit  ;a ;b to fast yea he will roll so hit  ;b a little slower or hit  ;b ;c ;d during the animation of  ;a. I believe there is a guide on youtube for San-culotte.

Not sure if anyone ran pass this short cut, most likely others know it. I was practicing for a while with Elizabeth and, I had a hard time trying to do her main BNB drive combo.   ;fd ;dn ;df ;a ~  ;dn ;df ;fd ;a.

Everytime I did it the result was.
;dn ;df ;fd+ ;a x2. Her Noble Blanc super.

After trying different ways for her drive cancel to work, I tried doing.
;fd ;dn ;df+ ;a then   ;a+ ;dn ;df ;fd and it worked everytime. I tried the same concept with Saiki's DP and, fireball and, it worked.

General Discussion / Re: Real match execution.

Do you practice in training mode with a standing and in-guarded dummy or do you have the the cpu on?

Good point. When I practice it's usually against just a standing dummy but, I should turn on the cpu to attack so I get that in-game experience. Still cpu can't compare to a real offline/online opponent but, I get your point.

Thanks. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way. I'll only focus on 3 characters and, fundamentals for the moment.

How's her Standing B as a anti air? I was able to knock a opponent out the air but, really see people use her standing B as a anti air.
