Yo, I'm thinking of coming to casuals on Friday instead of Tuesday. Dirtywerk wants to postpone the 98UM money match until then.

Tuesday is the only day I can go this week.

General Discussion / Re: Re: Best beginner team theory?

Shen Woo is a character I would recommend to beginners. Not only because he's simple and his execution is easy, but also because he has no cross up and no easy low confirm without HD. I feel like he made me become comfortable with spacing and pressuring with the threat of a command grab. So Shen and two other characters you'd like to play would be my recommendation.

So, according to the wiki, Daimon should be able to DC dp+K into hcf+C. I've been trying to pull this off and I seriously am having problems. I can do it in the corner sometimes (the timing's janky, you have to wait a tick before cancelling otherwise you'll whiff), but if I do it anywhere else, the opponent will go too far for hcf+C to hit. Is this only a corner thing? or am I just not figuring out how to do it? or maybe you can't do it in the Steam version?

DC his DP+K into qcb+B and cancel qcb+B into hcf+C. Daimon can cancel his command roll into other special moves without drive. That will make it work midscreen.

I started to feel bad for Woo later on. He looked like he was going to have a heart attack most of GF. Nonetheless, great job to Reynald on winning KOF for America.

The more I play Hwa, the more disgusted I get. He's so silly. 89% corner to corner HD for 1 bar lol.

I'll be at GNG tomorrow at 5pm for casuals. Be there or be square. :D
What's wrong with being a square?:-\

Ggs Yeah, it was a lot of fun. KOF had a lot of close matches which made for an exciting tournament. Eh, it could be worse for KOF though. P4A didn't even have enough people to run a tournament.:'(

I don't really care that SFxT is coming back... let them set themselves up for another unhype tournament if they want to.

MK9, on the other hand... there's no excuse for that still being there. I really don't know why they still bother with that game.
MK9 being at Evo makes perfect sense to me. Like the game or not, their community is dedicated and has been pulling in larger numbers than KOF at majors.

Let's hope for another great year of KOF and hopefully bring in some new blood.

Ggs to all of the IL players. You all exposed a ton of holes in my game. It was a lot of fun though, and I learned a lot. I hope to play y'all again sometime.

I can't decide on a third character for frosty faustings. I want to play Ash, but I don't feel competent enough to win with him. Last tournament he did the least amount of work by far. I have a few other characters I can play, just not on the level of my other 2.

But them combos man!!!!! I think Mr.Karate would fit you and your style well man.

But I can't land them in game.

I think Mr. Karate would fit everyone's style lol. He can do everything.

I'll still probably play Ash, I just have to improve with him much.

And watch more cafeID Lacid videos. ;)
For sure.

This leads to my main gripe with KOF 13 though. the risk versus reward is skewed so much in the favor of the aggressor. I can play lame with Ash, but what if my anti-air gets stuffed and I eat a full HD combo for it? Many characters have weak anti-air options in this game, and I've even seen things like Ash's flash kick get stuffed by a j.2C from Kyo or a j.CD by a lot of the cast. I'll still probably play Ash, I just have to improve with him much.

Fireball zoning isn't rewarded very well in this game. Each fireball only does 1% chip damage, and your opponent builds more meter than you do for each blocked fireball. The risk versus reward with throwing a fireball is heavily skewed in the favor the of the person not throwing the fireball. I like to play lame in general though. I've always been a defensive player.
