General Discussion / Re: KOFXIV Announced for 2016

Alright, was not expecting most of those characters for the demo. I mean Kyo, Iori, and Mai seem kind of obvious, but King of Dinosaurs and that guest character from P4: Arena? I'm really fucking stoked for this demo now. Though I do cry for no Terry. He's the one character I play every KOF (Blue Mary would be the other one if she was in every KOF *sigh*).

Wait there's a guest character from P4? Who is it cause I missed that part completely.
I think he refers to Sylvie.
That is incorrect. I was cracking a joke about Shun'ei. Turn him into an anime sprite and he would fit right into that game.

Actually, SNK should loan them that character. And in return, they could let us have Akihiko in this game and we can just scrap Nelson. Not hating on Nelson, but Akihiko is such a badass.

I'm wondering how good the story mode will be. SFV's was pretty bad even though they kinda tried to copy the model that Netherrealm has been following (excluding QTEs). It ended up mostly being just characters standing around and talking about pointless crap. I still can't believe they can make a story that long and still barely have any plot to speak of.

Here's hoping for the best.

You do have a point, they already had a fancy boxer in Heavy D for example so Vanessa was a pointless addition back in the day too. The thing is that you're adopting a negative view here. A new character doing "the same stuff" as an old character is a way for snk to expand the lore, the roster and to change movesets.

A lot of characters of old are infact just reimaginings of other characters and you're probably just used to them and therefore more accepting of them.

While I am expressing some disappointment, nothing wrong with that, I think it's a bit of a stretch to say I'm "adopting a negative view." I would encourage anyone who has something that they aren't happy with about this game to go ahead and say it. As long as they keep things civil and aren't just making crap up to stir up others.

Just to clarify, I can't wait for this game to come out. Got the collector's edition pre-ordered. And I will at least try every new character.

As much as I'm looking forward to this game I can't help but feel a bit disappointed in many of these new characters. I realize that KOF hasn't had any real new characters since XI (claw Iori and Saiki don't count in my opinion), but some of these new characters just seem unnecessary.

Nelson: His design is cool enough, but do we really need another boxer when SNK has so many? If I was one of those big Vanessa fans, I would be raging so hard about him being there instead of her.

Gong Il: While I'm giving this guy a shot, who wouldn't rather have Dong Hwan or Jae Hoon instead?

Hein: This guy seems like a super tame version of Oswald, who was by far my favorite new character in XI. I'm not sure if in practice he is actually like Oswald at all, but I can't help but think about Oswald when I see him in action.

None of these characters seem bad to me, they just seem redundant. It is a testament to the series of KOF that you can have 50 character roster and it still feels like so many characters are missing.

I apologize if I am coming off as bitchy. I really am looking forward to this game.

Hope he picked something that's useful to study. I have a degree in computer animation and I don't have shit to show for it. Instead I'm a freakin' electrician.

All what some want is just play exactly the same game but with an updated look. Thanks God game companies don't think like them.
I agree with you. Soul Calibur 5 is a good example of this. It's possibly my favorite in the series, but my dumbass friends won't play it because it's too different from the other games or because their favorite character was missing or all of the above. Pisses me off to no end.

I just saw our old primary admin and site creator nilcam on GameFAQs. He posted in the Pokken Tournanent boards a couple of weeks ago.

 :( :( :( :(
I've been gone from these boards for quite some time so I have no idea why he left. Would you please enlighten me?

I'm not even going to worry about netcode. I'll just go in expecting the same garbage netplay we've been getting. If we end up getting better, then I'll consider it an unexpected bonus. Despite SNK advertising extra online modes like the team play, I can't just assume that means the online experience will be better. KOF12 had some really cool online features like clans and lobbies, but that didn't keep the online play from sucking.

I say it's better to expect the worst and hope for the best on this aspect of the game.

I've always accepted this game's visuals unconditionally -I only hope cloth movement gets implemented in Kim's dobok, seeing it so static is a little embarassing-, but on the other hand I'm a bit nervous about how it will play online. Let's hope for the best.

I find it funny how Kim was one of the best looking characters in 13, but is one worst looking in this one.

Got my preorder put in today. August can't come soon enough.

I think from this point on we're going to see a lot more good footage like we did over the weekend. I really like how SNK is swinging for the fences on being a gaming company again. We got kof14, a kof anime, rumors of garou 2 and a new samsho coming. I remember before kof13 came out they were talking about that being it for kof period. What a turn around.

I don't know. At least Luong isn't showing bare skin unlike R. Mika. I'd even argue that R. Mika's costume sluttier than Luong's.
While it's true that Mika shows a lot of skin, she just doesn't act so overtly sexual. The butt slap she does is just a childish taunt and I don't believe it was meant to be as titillating as some perceived it to be. The way Luong pushes her opponents face towards her crotch looks very sensual. Then you have the very end of the move where she's straddling her opponents face. If I was just some random dude who wasn't aware of what KOF is and I saw a screenshot of that, I would think she was receiving oral sex. Now I personally have no problems with this, I'm just worried some uptight jackass will make a big stink about it.

Watch this https://youtu.be/ADJuXHPjvrE?t=3m7s

Then again, this could just be my dirty mind taking things too far as usual.

Wow! stayed up entirely too late last night. Great to finally see some competent gameplay though. I was getting tired of watching clips of people dicking around instead of actually playing to win.

I was really pullin' for that Luong player. I thought for sure he'd take it all, but I guess he got the jitters at the end. It was also really too bad that he had to get rid of her when the going got tough.

Speaking of Luong, that climax of hers is sexy as hell. Far more racy than R. Mika's butt slap in SFV. I'm afraid the hammer of censorship may be coming down on this one.

Nice video. Looks like Mai's boob animation from 13 is making a comeback. Joking aside, I'm liking max mode more and more. As much as I love 13, HD combos could be pretty tough to pull off. If you screwed it up, then you probably missed your only chance to pull it off in that match. This new Max mode looks like it will benefit all types of players, not just the ones who can do super long combos.

It seems to me that the rush combos work exactly like the ;a combos in P4 Arena. If this is the case it will always end with a DM if you have meter unless you stop the combo early. Can't remember if that game let you manually input other stuff mid combo. I do remember the damage for those combos were crap though.

'Sup fellas? It's been awhile since I showed my ugly mug around here. I got to say I'm getting pretty excited for this game. I was holding back on posting till the roster got confirmed so I could rant about the exclusion of certain characters *cough* Blue Mary *cough*, but then I saw that DLC leak. Does anyone know if this new leak comes from the same source as the others?

It just so happens I may have the day off this Saturday. If I don't I'll come anyway, just a little later. I can't wait to play some more Guilty Gear now that I finally got it on psn. I still believe it's the best fighter that Arc Systems has ever done even if it's deviously hard to play. I also wanna get back into KOF, been ignoring that game lately.

Turns out there is a place that fixes ps3's and other consoles at the same shopping center the Franchise is at. Figured it would be good for everyone to know. It's called FX Game Exchange.
