I'm on here, but... ya know.  Little Colorado KoF love outside of the people we already know.  :(

I do see random Colorado players online from time to time, but they don't play a lot after I friend them.  They also refuse to make it to any gathering, and in most cases, refuse to even check out Extrafresh.net hahaha!

Hopefully we get some of that new-new, though.

we're small but devoted!

Need to level up badly, so willing to play anyone of higher skill levels also.  I don't know why I can't understand this game at all and I'm getting frustrated, haha.

Wow, great video, that's something I never though had THAT many uses.  Thanks!

If that can shut down a Maxima's blockstring ending in the punch, or go through a wild one, that's a great counter-attack maneuver.

I'm going to start playing with that more now that I know better/different uses.

This is also info I'm going to cherish dearly.  Might be simple to ya, but this is all new info that I didn't really know/consider lol.  Well I really can't defend for him, but I'll forward on the thoughts, see what he thinks of it.  It'll make him more fearsome as a competitor probably, but the community will be better as a whole having to work harder. :)

Yeah...but in all seriousness I think Shen can live with 35-36 characters.

And look on the bright side, if it's Kensou anchor vs. Shen Anchor, you're actually sitting decently pretty.  You can kill him on one touch (or at least hit 800-900), he can't.  You having meter makes his FB game not as effective.  A bunch of your options with all that meter and drive will lead into hell, his won't for the most part.

I guess the thing I'm saying is...why the hell does that man run Kensou on anchor?!
LMAO

He likes his Neo Max, and I think he only knows his HD combo at the moment. :D

He also played Kensou a lot in 12?  So he has that previous practice knowledge and advantage against most everyone.  So probably comfort with Kensou is thrown in there too.

All I can say is that it works. :(  If I can touch him, I can kill him, sure, but I'm still too fresh to this game to have the greatest setups and pressures on the ready.

My goal for tonight's ranbat/gathering is to land some kind of 90% - ToD HD combo on him.  Wish me luck!  <-something I shouldn't be depending on in competitive play!

*sees combo doesn't work on Kensou*

*celebrates quietly*

Reported for being a jerk!  :(

Hahaha, yeah, unfortunately his fall animation leans back instantly, so he just chills right through Shen's install.  So I just have to use a not-as-easy 100% on him instead :(

One of the top 2 in state ATM plays Kensou.  Furthermore, as anchor vs my Shen anchor.  He's celebrating, though not as quietly, along with you.  ;)

Was messing with the stupid easy Shen 100% HD corner combos and found out a small efficiency thing.  I didn't see this mentioned on the Wiki or this thread.

There's two version of the combo:
Quote
(near corner) cl.C f.B BC cl.C f.B xx hcb,f+AC, CABC (MC) qcfhcb+AC - (1017)
(corner only) cl.C f.B BC cl.C f.B xx hcb,f+P (HDC) CABC (MC) qcfhcb+AC - (1017)

But it turns out you can do the "Corner Only" version from "Near Corner" range.  This is good because it allows for an easy 100% with 4 bars instead of 5.

If you do the hit confirm into hcb,f+P, then on the first frame available do the (HDC) CABC, you will hit with it no matter where you are.  Finish off with Max Cancel for the 1000+ damage for an easy 4-Bar HD combo.  Just still make sure your opponent is basically in the corner after getting hit with the install burst otherwise Max Cancel will miss and all that.  You can start from about midscreen and do enough push to get them into the corner.  After the hit confirm f+B, lead in with qcf+A (HDC) hcb,f + P CABC if you need that slight bit of extra push.  It will still do 1k+.

This is made easier with the input leniency.  If you press the first three buttons, CAB, right away after the grab lands then press and HOLD the last C when the throw's hit animation occurs, you'll have that 5 frame buffer for the Shen install to come out on frame 1, which should combo in most instances.

One instance it doesn't combo is Kensou, because he's a prick.

This will NOT work on Kensou, and I'm going to assume a few other characters, but I haven't come across any more besides him yet.  That'll follow the Near Corner/In Corner rules.

If I just repeated some information somewhere else, obvious information or otherwise, then oops :(  Otherwise, I hope this helps promote some Shen fisting.

While we're on the subject though, can anyone give me a few names of high-level Vice/Ralf/King/Yuri players? I'm mainly looking for Vice and King but any of them will be helpful ^^

The other day, ChrisG (Marvel 3 player) won a New Jersey tournament using King on point if you wanna check that out: http://shoryuken.com/2012/01/20/footage-of-kofxiii-from-last-nights-local-battles/

Not top-world-level play, but maybe it'll still help you out. :)

Fireball zoning doesn't seem AS strong in this game as Capcom games.  As bigvador said with King, mix hers up.  Try to do read fireballs i.e. full jump backwards, do one at the top of your jump while they may be expecting one low to the ground.  At lot of players here surprisingly  get hit by that one the most because they expect one shooting AT them.

Also, on the reverse, you wanna shoot fireballs based on YOUR outcome.  Like if you expect someone to jump, do the B version, so you recover faster and hit them with a far s.D to keep them out.  Alternatively, if someone is rushing you down, do the airborne D version, so you fly backwards and force the opponent to guess through few fireballs.

Of course, if they get through two, maybe one if close enough, you're in for a world of hurt.  Just play carefully, see what your opponent likes to do in response to fireballs and read it.  Versus just trying to throw them out and zone.  Pretty much reverse of Capcom style games, I suppose :)

I'm also having somewhat of the same problem. However the difference is setting up crossups. I'm not really sure when I can crossup and the correct spacing for them. Can someone explain to me when and how should I crossup. I mean sometimes I perform them other times I don't I just cant get quite a hold on it. If you could use Ex-Kyo as an exemplary character that would be great.

Being new to the game myself, and not using Kyo either version, I dunno how much this'll help.

I've realized with King that you can do c.B, c.B, s.B blockstring then do a hyper hop D to cross the opponent up (training against Chin, so it might be different for characters of greater height, crouching, etc).  Maybe there's some set up like that for EX-Kyo?

I hit the lab with some rolls and got a better feel for the invuln time, and when it ends.    I think that might have been one of my biggest things, because a mistimed anything can miss completely and the person can roll roll roll away.

If you have a command grab, use it. He won't be able to tech out of it. You can also just attack him with most everything as he recovers.

Edit: Oh and since you're using Shen, he's got hcb,f+P so you could use that instead of mashing cr.B. Negate her projectiles with a qcb+C, or even sacrifice a meter or two for a super.

Yeah, I watched some videos and just realized how stupid I was against the projectile game.  All three of my characters have anti-fireball tech and I failed to use them, along with Shen's command grab to catch rolls.  No one else really abuses rolls like this guy, so it won't really have as much practicality until I see him again, which will probably be tournament time (which got delayed :(  ).  But I'm definitely a lot more mentally prepared and equipped with better technology for facing him.

Thank you sirs/ma'ams for your answers :)

I do use the Super at least... but that in turn has made people afraid to test my reactions from midscreen hahaha.

Ran into an online player over the weekened that rolled a lot, until I employed the complex tactic of mashing crouching lows. If you have a character that can combo off of lows then even better.

Basically ended up shutting him down by mashing Kim's cr.B into combos. He stopped rolling.

I tried doing that a few times, even in practice mode.  I just randomly don't end up mashing properly for some reason.  But I got some timing down on when to start expecting the kicks to hit.  Unfortunately, doing lows are Shen's weakness, and I'm not good with his HD confirm from cr.Bs yet.  I'm gonna work with that more hopefully before the tournament. lol.  Thanks :)

i suggest sweep :) the recovery here in this kof are generous from the roll enough to time it.

Hmm, I didn't think about sweeps.  That would grant me oki, furthermore.  I'll try putting some stock into that. :)  Thanks
