King of Fighters 98/UM/FE / Re: KOF 98UM - Kyo Kusanagi
« on: December 05, 2012, 03:11:28 AM »
Seems like this thread is pretty barren but I love this game enough to post anyway. I just wanted to add a few Kyo combos that aren't up in the wiki, but are definitely optimal for the given situation. cl.C, f.B combos on every character after landing a crossup j.d+C (I confirmed this in training mode), mostly due to the back turned state the opponent is put in, and the fact that the j.d+C pulls Kyo in very close to the opponent. After this you can combo into his hcb.B/D for his most damaging midscreen meterless combo which also leads to a hard knockdown, or do an orochinagi. If going for the highest damage possible in this back turned state, you can do cr.Bx2, cr/st.A, final showdown after the j.d+C. This does about 50% in UM, and about 70% in OG 98, and also works on every character. I got the final showdown combo from Dakou, but I haven't seen any Kyo players do cl.C, f.B combos after a crossup j.d+C so I figured this may be helpful. The cl.C, f.B combos also works on some characters starting with a j.B after a back throw, but I'll have to do some testing to find out for sure which characters it does and doesn't work on.

Just stick with the games that you know man. SF4 isn't even worth entering if you just recently picked it up because you'll probably get bopped. On the other hand, I think you have a good chance of doing well in KOF and Marvel. I'd say just stick to those 2 games. It's not like SF4 needs any more pot monsters in the first place. KOF on the other hand, is basically on life support.

Happy thanksgiving to our small, dedicated KOF cult!

Unfortunately I have to work a 12 hour shift on saturday from 7pm to 7am, so I won't be able to make it down there this weekend.

Yeah... I dropped a max cancel with K' of all things (facepalm). I don't think any player I've seen can land HD combos 100% of the time. Never hurts to get more consistent though. And ggs to Desmond in 2k2UM. I was amazed at how playable that was online.

Haha... Touch me Jesus! I swear i laughed my ass off for like 15 minutes the first time I saw that. GGs to everyone on saturday. Jacob and I will hopefully make it down there this saturday as well. BTW Kevin, did you get those faceroll combos down with claw?

We'll probably make it next weekend. Also, if you need a ride to this upcoming comicade i could give you a lift if needed.

Unfortunately my brother and I probably won't be able to make it due to the fact that we're pretty broke at the moment. We'll most likely be able to make it if you're hosting next weekend though, and I'm down to play some 98 with you on GGPO.

Added this to the wiki notes section: Performing the f A, f.B, DM cancels might be a little tricky at first, so you can use the: f A, qcb B, hcf B~P shortcut instead.

That is very helpful. I've always had trouble with that DM cancel and had no idea there was a shortcut. Thanks for posting that Kane.

Oh I thought they might be taking it out for good. That's a relief. What I meant by side tourney though is that we could independently run one on the side like KOF players at MLG events are doing.

The next Comicade tourney doesn't even have KOF 13 listed as a game... Looks like we're having us a side tourney this time. Seriously though, Killer Instinct aka a shitty ripoff of MK is there, but no KOF? :(

Yeah my personal favorite is 2k2 UM, but I'm trying to learn 98. Unforgiving as hell, but I like it. Anyways, my GGPO account is Josh_KOF and Jacob's is Grublet. We'll most likely be able to make it on Saturday if you're hosting. Hopefully more people show this time...

No big deal. I might make it to GNG casuals tomorrow since I gotta pick up my newly dual-modded stick from Punha anyway. BTW, I just got KOF 98 on GGPO so if anybody wants to hit that up let me know.

Grublet and I will probably be able to make it if you're hosting on Saturday. I'm feeling a lot better now and will probably be fully recovered by this weekend.
