General Discussion / Re: The King of Fighters XIII Video Thread

Hey guys! Found some new tech for Daimon! EX ground stomp loop (the most I've seen it done in videos is only one rep) and using the technique I also acquired a new 100% (without the need for a counter hit).

Also does anyone know of any near impossible to do combos that hasn't been done yet but know that it can be done?

Crazy Goro stuff..

The other day on the Cafeid channel I saw someone practicing the Goro EX Ground stomp loop and was wondering what he was trying to do, as I had never seen it before..  and now after seeing ur vid I know what he was trying..

I think any player that can do the Iori Rekka infinite has a chance to pull this off ^^

Hmm actually I'm a bit curious since one guy said the EX stomp loop (all 5) and the 100% combo are old. I asked many veteran KoF people and they said at most they saw was one rep in a video and never saw the 100% since no one ever did more than one rep.

The guy has yet to give a link so I dunno.

Also would be nice if the video can get frontpaged. :3

After I juggle them with an EX upkick then regular upkick I can't seem to land anything else other than Super or standing A. Not even crC lands. It's really weird.

I assume you're using dp B right? If so, in order to combo after it like hcf P, the first hit (when he's going up) has to hit as low as it can so by the time you land, the opponent will be low enough to combo. If you do it too early, they'll be too high and by the time they are in position, the window to combo will be gone.

I made this video a few days ago, although not meant to be completely practical, you might find some stuff in it to help you with your game.

Wow I'm surprised there's thai people here.

I'll be glad to play at MBK. Maybe this weekend, I haven't had much time to play anything lately. :)

  - d.B seems to be like a 1-frame link, so probably not a good idea to try it in a real match.

Does the b B before the d B link need any special requirement to it such as distance (hitting at the last frames) or can the b B be a deep hit and still be able to link a d B?

Curious, if I place a Genee in front of the opponent and they react and hit me and the Genee hits them (AFAIK, Genee still stays even if you get hit), is it possible to connect an EX Pluivose after trading hits? Both of us still on the ground of course.

Not quite sure, but it's iffy.

I suppose it would depend on when it explodes - as you are getting hit, he gets hit at the same time, or after you get hit and they are recovering from the move. If it's possible would have to be from an opponent's light attack. I do know the EX super is either a 2 or 1 frame attack so it would be very close.

Hmm, speaking of exploding, I'm assuming it takes a little while before Genee explodes right? As in maybe a 1 second delay. And if the opponent never gets into range, will it still explode or just disappear?

I also have a few more questions if you don't mind.

I think I saw someone link a d D after a d A but I'm not sure. Although it's probably useless since Ash can cancel his d B anyways, I guess it's a good thing to keep in mind.

I'm assuming all specials after his b B is a link right? Because that's how I did combos with EX Pluivose. If it's so, is it possible to connect his command throw?

And speaking of command throw, the simple C > command throw should work right (hcb C, hcb BD)? EDIT: Oh wait, scratch that, he has Genee now. I guess there goes the C > command throw shortcut. :(

Dark Geese: Yeah it's been a long time lol. Sadly I haven't touched KOF in about 8 years so other than past experiences, it seems I'll have to be starting from scratch again. But I guess practicing and working towards the goal is what makes everything fun and worthwhile. :)

I have a question. Can she still do 3 crouching light attacks into Nocturnal Lights? I can't even seem to get the 3rd hit in so I was wondering if it's not possible, would a standing A connect as a 3rd hit?

From what I've been playing, it seems she can still connect d B, B (I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it yet since I'm not familiar with terms like cl.) so if anyone has a hard time connecting Nocturnal Lights from crouching lights, this would make things much easier although you'll have to be pretty close to get that standing B off.

It seems I couldn't really do d B, B, d A on a blocking opponent to continue pressure so I'm assuming her d A doesn't have the same range as her 98/2002 version (which is probably why I can't fit in 3 lights into Nocturnal Lights).

Other than the things I mentioned, specials aside and a few changes to her normals, I felt she was her usual 98/2002 self. I played her that way the entire time and it still gave me success although I started messing around with some of her specials since it seems a lot of her specials have improved.

My post may sound odd but I never read up on XIII before playing so I played things just like it was 98/2002.

And I love her new jump CD. Although it works similiar to her old jump CD, it comes out much faster (although I believe it lacks range). I love to use it while jump backwards (it usually catches people trying to jump into me while I try to gain distance from them) preparing for Ebony Tears setups.

It happens to me. Most of the characters I like as characters (appearance, personality, etc) were never my mains because I just didn't feel right when playing them. In the end, the characters I played best were because of the way they played, but another good thing about it was that after playing a character because of their gameplay, I started to like the character as a character too.

I guess an example is like saying, I normally like Kula but my style never fit her gameplay so I ended up playing Billy but later Billy grew on me as a character favorite as well and now I like Billy as much as Kula.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people choose characters that they like as a character to fit their gameplay, but I don't really think that's the best approach because IMO it's more about your playstyle than what character appearance you like. Just my opinion.

Kane317: Hmm yeah I usually hang out at other forums but I usually just talk about general gaming since I stopped playing KOF and didn't really know what to talk about regarding KOF anymore. I just stay at those places since I have friends there when I was still playing KOF so it was more of a friends thing than a KOF thing. But since I have most of them on some kind of instant messenger, I felt it was time I moved on.

As for XIII, the odd thing was that they put the game all the way at the back of the arcade while they kept Tekken 6:BR and SSFIV AE at the front so XIII didn't interest me much until I saw quite a lot of people playing so I gave it a shot and it was fun! Wanted to try characters I wasn't so familiar with (mainly any character after 2002) but decided to stick to characters I was more familiar with like K' and Mature since I didn't want to wait for about 15 minutes just to play again if I lost. I guess the main reason I like XIII is because it didn't have any recycling (unless you count XII) yet still played like a KOF game. I got tired of the past games because there was a lot of recycling and it didn't really feel like a new experience anymore. Execution in the game seems much easier. Not sure what characters I'll be using in the end but yeah, I'm liking XIII. :)

Dark Chaotix: I have A LOT of catching up to do so I don't think I'll be posting any info any time soon lol. But I did think up of a few mind games for some characters but I'll have to try it out first to see how effective it'll be. So yeah, I'll be reading much more than typing for now. :)

Delta: Ah yes, I make combo videos, mainly because after I stopped playing KOF, I didn't want to quit entirely so I went for the combo approach since I can do it at home without the need to go out to an arcade. A rather surprising thing about me is that I was never a combo person when it came to matches. I stuck to the basics (light attacks into supers and relied more on mind games) while my friends were the more hardcore combo players. :)

And glad you enjoyed my videos. :)

krazykone123: Ah sure. Do you have any ideas in mind for the sig? :)

Hi, I'm Persona. Introduction, hmm... I used to be a competitive KOF player back in the days but started to get bored after 2002 since everyone only plays 98 so I stopped playing KOF altogether until I gave XIII a chance and found out that it has sparked my interest in KOF again!

Decided to join the forum because there's a lot of gameplay talk over here. :)

Sadly everyone in my country only plays SSFIV AE and KOF 98 so I'm not too sure how long I can last playing KOF XIII but I'm really hoping the online will be good.
