General Discussion / Re: KOFXIV Announced for 2016

It would kill their game to launch in Feb. Besides not many characters have been shown. My guess would be September or October, but that's hoping for no setbacks.

Classic King of Fighters / Re: PS2 - Good or Bad Ports?
« on: November 26, 2015, 08:07:38 PM »
If I remember right '02 UM was an earlier build meaning there were some balancing that the 360 and PC port got but not 100% on this. Other then that '02 UM had 3d backgrounds compared to the arcade, 360 and PC ports. Don't think it effected much.

'98 UM is the same build as the 360 version.but the PC version is the updated version from the arcade.

KOF XI I never heard much different from other then the extra characters not really made for the game issues (balancing not game breaking), and I've had glitchy copies with sound issues. No one really complains about the PS2 copy.

There is definately someone else in charge of the animation style, but looking at the comparsion videos I would not be suprised if the old wireframes from KOF XIII were being recycled partially to save time and also to appease crowds. If that's so it wouldn't suprise me if certain characters look a little out of sorts when going from one gamestyle to another while still using stuff from the old game.

It reminds me of the headache Udon had in redoing the sprites for HD Remix.

Art of Fighting / Re: Andy Bogard / Geese Howard (AoF 2)
« on: November 18, 2015, 06:39:09 PM »
Honestly I think it's just coincidence. SNK was looking for a way to make Geese look younger for Art of Fighting 2 and having longer hair seemed to do the trick. I don't think there was anything secret behind it. SNK has a habit of making characters too similar. Look at the K'/ Rock Howard issues they had when they were making both games. K' got the silver hair and sunglasses because he was looking way too similar to Rock.

Besides Terry was around 10 and Andy maybe 8 when Jeff died (rough guesing based of Wild Ambition). Saying Geese was in his early to mid 20's back then I think he would be mighty young to sire Andy.

General Fighting Game Discussion / Re: Street Fighter V

I think it's the one fighting game that is universally looked forward to for one reason or another. Playing it I enjoy it's like nothing that's already out there. I think there will be a lot of people that will try it quickly and throw it to the side because it takes a bit to get used to how it works.

Samurai Shodown / Re: Samurai Shodown VI (The samurai never dies)
« on: November 12, 2015, 04:41:16 PM »
It wasn't bad. A lot of people were grumpy over no fatalities or blood for that matter. It does feel different then the 3-5 versions, but that's not a bad thing IMO. It's another title I wish Playmore would release with online.

Classic King of Fighters / Re: I love KOF XII
« on: September 18, 2015, 11:53:28 AM »
XII was an incomplete game. It was the unfinished XIII game though I will admit throwing out things like the critical counter system in XII let the developer know not to go in that direction. Hense the hybrid XI and 02 system instead. I think the biggest problem was marketing it like it was a finished product.  It really burned the community. I think Capcom and Microsoft have done it best in getting the fans involved from the start and building a game from feedback. Playmore has been very bad about doing that.

Maximilian talked about the youtube thing on his channel. I saw the other trailer on neo-geo.com forums. I also saw the SRK article where they threw around static pics saying it looked a little better. So at least they recognize the community is pissed.

A lot of people already have a negative view of this game. The new graphical style really turned off even some of the biggest fans and some are even declaring it a flop. Are the justified in thinking this or are they just jumping the gun?

I think when a company has to close down the comments section on their video and make a second trailer not showing the game it is a failure as a trailer to hype the public for the new game. Now jumping the gun and saying the game will suck, yeah, it's a bit too soon.

I will say the animation style wasn't what disappointed me the most. When Kyo threw out a shoulder attack it looked extremely stiff and awkward. If if they increased the animation and smoothed things out the way they made the move just doesn't look right to me. That had me more worried then anything.

I think right now the console companies are trying to go back to console exclusives being more prevalent that is causing PC to get thrusted into the spotlight more and more. The last generation had $200 fightsticks. Now we have to buy all new again..... unless you go PC. Then if you're a fighter the pickings for fighters on the current gen systems is very scarce. KI and SFV being console exclusives while MKX and TK7 being on both it's harder to want to spend the big bucks on a new console especially since the era of porting old arcade titles is all but over now.

I'll admit now I play more on the PC then I do on console.

General Fighting Game Discussion / Re: 2015 Platforms for Fighters
« on: August 10, 2015, 12:52:28 AM »
I play mostly on the 360, PS3, and PC. Though the PC has been getting the most action out of the three of late, and will get more with Street Fighter V and Killer Instinct coming out.

The PS4 and Xbox One are grossly dissapointing for fighters. My family keeps wondering when I will buy one, but how do you justify a system for one game a piece? Now that the PC is getting titles it's less then that for me.

I play it from time to time with a friend on XBLA, but never played enough of it to spend more money on the Steam version. Besides I personally prefer GGXrd anyways. If they release GGXrd Judgement on Steam I might pick a GG game on steam then.

Classic King of Fighters / Re: New KOF or a revamp?
« on: July 31, 2015, 08:18:47 AM »
My thought for Baseball Stars 3 would be similar to 2 with animeesque graphics and a system similar to Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball. If they threw KOF characters in there I might die a little inside.

Personally I would either want them to work on something else besides KOF to expand their products to something more then KOF, Metal Slug, or Samurai Shodown, or get a third party involved in making something new like Dimps helped Capcom make Street Fighter IV. Having as many IP's they have available yet only using a couple is not good business.

My hope would be Mark of the Wolves 2 since it is sought after, but Art of Fighting 4, Baseball Stars 3, Last Blade 3, or any other number of titles would be fun to see.
