capcom's new anti-resale method
« on: June 28, 2011, 11:34:07 AM »
article

personally  this isn't really a big deal for me since i don't have a 3ds or play games on handheld's that much but i do see it being a major problem for anyone else who may just let his/her siblings or friends play

also i seriously hope that they don't do this with megaman legends 3

wow.. This is retarded, some games are actually fun to play again completely from the start megaman games for example. Though i have to assume that they would refrain from implementing this in atleast any future additions to the classic series but still.. Complete bullshit.

Luckily i don't play resident evil so this won't affect me for now, hehe.

Wait, what?  I mean, no, seriously, what?  I don't know much about this RE (since I stopped caring about the series after the awful "game" that was RE5), but a huge point for the good RE games was being able to replay them for speed runs or limited resource runs or no gun runs or...well, you get the idea.

This is like creating SF5 as a one-player-only game.  Way to backstab your own franchise, Capcom.

That's really stupid actually

I wonder if this is a ''cartridge thing'' only, at least I couldn't seeing it working on CD, but well, there you have those '''online codes''

Yeah I don't think they can get this work on CDs, so pretty much I don't care as I don't own a handheld.

ANSWER, you know they'll start doing game-passes with the CD's ones. Used copies need to get said game-pass online for like $20. We've seen it before to play online, and soon they'll do it for single-player too.

This is a failed experiment in the making here. I really doubt they'll implement this for future titles, especially for RE. Hell, half the joy of RE is beating it a 2nd time, finding all the secrets, getting a better time, etc.

Since this is a Mercenaries game, AKA a game made entirely of a mini-game, i don't see much problem with that. Yeah, it sucks to lack some liberty about it, but it doesn't matter much in the long run.

But now, if they make the same thing for other "real" games, then yes it would suck big time.

Every once in a while, Capcom or another big company will do something that screams suicide. This article showcases an attempt from Capcom. I know it'll fail in the long run, but I'm still sad to see it (a bad idea from start to finish) begin somewhere. If it doesn't fail, and other people follow the trend started by Capcom...

Can't blame them there is a lot of piracy and not getting any sales % on the trade-ins. So I'm good on it, I don't see the problem. I mean, if I play the game I don't want my savefile to be deleted and seen how the game is, I don't think replaying the old levels will be a problem.

Since the 3DS uses cartridges it's only a matter of time.

People will pirate it and find a way to reset gamesaves. It's the only way that game will ever be played, pirated and modified.

Oh god, I hope that no other company would be stupid enough to follow in Capcom's footsteps.
