Fatal Fury Wild Ambition
« on: July 28, 2011, 06:30:54 AM »
Anybody has played or plays this game?

I had this game on a local arcade and is really fun

My question is, how is the PSX version?

Is it worth to purchase on the store now?

Game is a pile of shit. I own the PSX version. It's horrible. Controls are shiiiiiiiiit.

Only thing good about this game is the soundtrack, and that is it.

Go play RB2. Better game.

agreed, id go as far and say best ff game out there. motw is more complete and the hitb boxes are better, but rb2 is more fun. if they had fixed rb2 problems it would have been one of the best fighters period imo, still one of the most fun fighters ever created.
In the end, there can only be XIII.

I actually like this game. I had a lot of fun with it back when it came out on PS1. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes Fatal Fury. You won't find any competitive players with this title, and people often have bad things to say about it. I actually like it and thought it was fun, so I'd say walk into it with an open mind. Its not RB2 and its not KoF. Try and accept for what it is.

People shit on this game for no reason at all.  Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is a solid game in the series.  Roster is decent and is pretty much a Real Bout game.  Still yet to unlock Duck King.

Garbage controls.
Clunky and cumbersome movement and gameplay.

That's a deal breaker right there.

Wild Ambition came out in 1999 though, ya know, after masterpieces like Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and Garou:Mark Of The Wolves.

Granted it used 3D and crap, making it worse, although SNK managed to speed up and smooth out the controls in a 3D fighter by the time Maximum Impact was made, although the gameplay wasn't clunky like older games, the shit you could do in it was lulz.

snk still has never made a good or even decent 3d fighter yet. i never could  stan the fact that they made a 2d monster arcade with the hyper neo and never even made a 2d fighter for it. thats whats really sad, and even sadder if  you consider that during that time snk was reigning champion when it came to 2d fighters. in those hyper neo daysthey made the best 2d fighters they ever made, and none of that shit on the hyper. i would have loved to see what would have been possible on that machine, probably at least kof xiii type of material.

I'll kinda meet ya half way.  The controls are not perfect, but they are not terrible.  They are average at best.

One thing I really like that other fighters haven't done (that I am aware of) is that you become dizzied when your meter is low.  So managing your meter is VERY important in FFWA.

DragonBall Z Super Butoden games had the same thing, you became stunned if you tried to use any moves that used meter when you were low/empty. It's dumb.

I never knew that the Super Butouden games did that.  I only played like a couple of minutes.
