KOF inputs
« on: June 19, 2011, 01:21:50 PM »
yo im new to KOF, its literally my 1st day learning this, earlier today i tried to do some practices on Andy's moves.

particularly the  ;bk ;db ;dn ;df ;fd  ;b/ ;d  . i duno if i input the directoinals too fast, but wat usually appears is just well a kick animation. I've been playing FGames competitively for about 2 years now so i have the fundamentals and all.

should i slow down my directional input? this is kof13 btw, thanks

Two years and you can't do 41236? :|

It's basically  ;dn ;df ;fd, just start at the back. Same speed, longer motion.

i wouldnt be posting bout the game input speed if it didnt feel different from other Fgames :\

so for other players the inputting the directions are roughly the same speed or not? (compared to other Fgames)

That's hard for me to answer, since I play so much KOF. Personally, I feel as if I input quarter-circle motions the same speed for every fighting game.

I've heard some people say that SNK input speeds are "faster," but there's still a lot of differences between games.

With practice it'll become second-nature.

No, I wasn't trying to be mean. I was just asking about it.

Yeah, the directions are about the same. The buffering in SNK games are really good, so you can be a bit more sloppy with it.

If you are playing the dump version, this is to be expected, it has that problem. If you are playing in the Arcade Cabinet, then you shouldn't be having problems. KOFXIII hcf/hcb are easy to pull in the arcades, there is no real "special" way to input them really.

But as you know, keep practicing, you might find your own way to pull them out.

newer snk games, yes. older ones, no.

Press 7 and go into the settings menu, turn the input delay reduction on.

Problem solved. I was having alot of problems getting moves to come out until I noticed that setting.

Even older games have a pretty big buffer margin for the motions.

Ew, people playing on dumps of the game. :(

I'm new to the KOF series and I have a question. Since the inputs tend to be lenient in KOF, is it easier to do Desperation Moves than say, Street Fighter Ultra moves?

There is the difficulty in the sf4 manipulation 0_0

For me kof manipulation are harder, mainly because you need to be faster than in sf4, especially to do cr.B,SDM

SF4 is one of the most input lenient games in the history of competitive fighting games, if not the most. That being said, kof isn't too much more difficult. Like Sharnt said you need to move a bit faster and you need to be a bit more precise (no mashing), but just coming off of sf4 myself it doesn't take too long to adjust.
