Iori Combo Thread
« on: July 26, 2016, 03:27:46 AM »
I'm hoping to refine the list of combos I've got on the wiki. http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Iori_Yagami_%28XIV%29#Combos

Suggestions welcome.

Also a combo I did that I thought was neat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fmWjT_lRoQ
we can go swagger still.

Nice combo video, certainly more stylish than anything I have come up with. You should put that one in the wiki if you haven't already.

How about this one from EXWildWolf's twitter:  https://twitter.com/kd0079_/status/756121404970459136

Honestly, when it comes to combos I want on the wiki, I prefer to keep thinks optimal and/or practical. As a starter's guide to the character's dmg, so to speak.

Speaking of optimal, to my chagrin, the battery max mode combos I have on the wiki are slightly sub-optimal. The corner combos are still the same, but you can shove a qcb+A before the super on midscreen combos. I'm gonna have to go back and amend them >_>

Also, got quick combo reference up as well

While I certainly get prioritizing optimal and/or practical combos, it doesn't mean you can't have flashy craziness in there as well. Just make sure you separate those combos from the others and note them as being such.

I agree with Minionman that the wiki should have optimal and practical combos featured in the lists. The much more flashy, unpractical, hard stuff can be listed in the combo thread here.

You all can do what you want of course. I still believe everything in one place is more convenient. Isn't that the point of a wiki anyway?

Anyhow, I'll get back on topic. Discovered this combo on accident. It's easy but super inefficient. Damage is 666 making it the most evil combo.

close ;c, ;fd ;a, ;b+ ;c, ;fd ;a, ;a, ;dn ;df ;fd ;a+ ;c, ;dn ;df ;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk ;a or ;c, ;dn ;df ;fd ;dn ;df ;fd ;b+ ;d

Again, this combo is a huge waste unless it's going to finish the match. I'm only posting it because I think 666 damage is metal as hell and no one else seems to want to contribute to this topic.

The Cl.C into HCB+K actually does a bit more damage than the usually Cl. C. > F.A > Rekka bnb. It'd be good to put it there.

I updated the wiki with a more optimal point combo that kinda makes the second/anchor combo defunct. I'd take em out, but alot of people still seem to use them. It is still the better combo in the corner by a margin

I found this combo:

2 Bars 1500 Max Mode
https://twitter.com/frionel26/status/789098146941005824

Notation looks like:

j. C, cl. C, f+A [BC] cl. C, qcf+AC, qcb+ACx3, qcb+Ax2 [SC] qcf~hcb+P = 584 damage

I'm having trouble getting the Super Cancel to land at the moment.

1 Bar, 1500 Max Mode
https://twitter.com/frionel26/status/789095916653469696

j. C, cl. C, f+A [BC] cl. B (link) cl. C, qcf+AC, dp+BD, qcb+ACx3, qcb+Ax3 = 418 damage
Not bad. The cl.B link... if you don't use it, you have the same damage output for some reason.

I edited in the new combos. They are fun, but I'm probably sticking with the old combos, esp since I often play him on point.

Also this might of happened in the day 1 patch, but I can't combo into command grab any more. Is anyone else able to get it?
