1. How long have you played KOF? Which KOF was your first? Which is your favorite?

I’ve played KOF since the first edition came out. A good friend of mine introduced it to me after playing The Art of Fighting in a local arcade back in Juarez Mexico. That was in 1994. My favorite KOF edition is 2000 because of the gameplay and the good selection of characters and strikers even though many will disagree but thats my personal opinion.

2. Why KOF over all of the other fighters?

Back in Juarez MEX playing KOF is more of a tradition for young kids and there is more selection of KOF than any other games. Although my main reason for playing is because of the style of animation. Characters in specific have more style in moves and the gameplay pace is fast and combos look awesome with flashy desperation moves.

3. Are you a tournament player? If so, list your tournament rankings.

I became interested in the tournament side of the game because of the friends i met here in Colorado. I always played KOF but it was more of a past time for me since playing KOF happened when going on a trip to the corner store. When i participated on the last three majors I did not get out of pools.

4. Do you have a local scene or do you rely on online play?

Yes we have a very solid local scene here in Colorado we are known as KCO (Kings of Co) its a small scene but we hardly miss any of the two days we meet during the week. I also play online whenever i get a chance.

5. Do you prefer pad or stick? Why is that your preference?

I prefer stick its been the only way I’ve played KOF. With stick i feel more in control of every move and free to improvise any body movement with pad i feel like its just a certain way you play.

6. What advice do you have for new players?

Advice for new players is ask questions and practice practice practice. Learn the gameplay of the preferred characters before playing anyone. Its so much easy when you know your combos and how to punish the opponent. Once you have someone to play weather online or offline try your best to travel and play as much people you can. Its the best way to level your game.

7. How do you choose a character and team? How do you choose the order?

I choose my characters by the style i play and try to balance my team. I like fire balls and i love uppercuts so any character with those qualities is what i choose.
The order is based on how i feel i can beat my opponent.

8. Which type of character do you prefer?

I prefer spacing characters. I am more of a zoner than aggressive player.

9. From a purely gameplay perspective, who is your favorite character?

My favorite character is Ramon his play style is very interesting and unique.

10. How often do you practice or train in KOF alone?

I practice alone when ever I have a chance so i do not count the time i spend alone. Sometimes i just cant practice at all.

11. How do you gain new techniques, strategies, setups and combos? Do you watch match videos?

For the past year I managed to travel a bit more and it helped me a lot to gain knowledge and techniques such as combos setups strategies and all the good stuff. I hardly ever watch match videos but i do watch tournament streams and thats if they are live.

12. What would you like to see in a new KOF game?

I would like to see a big character selection like 2002UM with the same gameplay of XIII. Also the same animation characters have in XIII basically XIII but with more playing characters.
