Athena Wiki Building Thread

All pending submissions for Athena's wiki should be posted here for testing and analysis before approval. Whatever section you are submitting, just copy and paste a template from the wiki like for example:

If you have any information you would like to share on certain setups, gameplay tips, pros-cons, add them here.

12/13/11 - Athena has a fleshed out movelist, including normals and command throws section, and gameplay overview. It may need to be updated for the console version. Please read through those sections to find any mistakes or changes from arcade to console version. She has a few combos so far, but more is always welcomed.

Athena Throw Crossup OS setup

After C or D throw midscreen you do

short hop J6B > J214BD

1) Now the option select comes here, if J6B hits then J214BD combos and you convert.

2) If the opp blocks J214BD still has + frames so you continue your pressure.

3) If the opp rolls back, Athena lands from the J6B , and you get reflector which hits the back roll.

4) If the opponent rolls forward Athena EX teleports forward and tracks the opponent.

So a bit of neutral game knowledge for Athena players I just tested out:

Athena's  ;b Phoenix Arrow is -3 on recovery. That means she can be thrown out of the move. It's really hard to tell when she actually hits the ground, but she can be thrown out of the move. Players should be prepared to tech throws or avoid doing the move to grapplers, but also note your normals will probably beat out someone throwing out a 4 frame move or slower (Like a d.B or st.C move).

Thanks, Choysauce, I will add them soon.

But before I do, I would like to know, which combos in the wiki already should be taken away? I only added ones that I felt that were easy as I awaited for more advanced combos. Before there were hardly no combos or wrongly notated ones, lol.

Also, many of the combos in your suggestion feature the butt loops, so I will add the video on how to perform it somewhere in the videos section.

Strategy

Cornered: Athena's EX teleport is her best tool to get out of the corner. You can time her command grab as soon as she crosses her opponent and do one of her corner combos.  That's is why knowing Athena's corner combos that start from a grab is essential.

When opponent is cornered: I find ex teleport +command grab combo really nice in this situation.. Tou fast to react to and the best part is that when u cancel athenas ex teleport with any special move it doesnt require a drive bar

Command grab strategies mid screen

This is where athena's high jump comes into play. By doing command grab mid-screen you can set up the 2 following frame traps on wake up:

a) let your opponent hit the ground and hyper jump+B to cross up
b) hit your opponent with a psychoball before falling to the ground and hyper jump+D

Will add more later as I am figurring athena myself atm

If I may add, this is my staple combo at corner

2 Stock 1 Drive

hcf + C, qcb + A, qcb + C ,dp + C , cancel into hcb x 2 + A/C on air, cancel (ABCD), hcb x 2 + C when landed - 544 damage
