EVO 2014 KOF XIII - Player Seeding, Who Should the Top Seeds Be?

Hello everyone!

I'm Andres and I'm here to let you know that I'm the Organizer for KOF XIII this year at Evolution 2014. A lot of you will remember that I took ownership of KOF XIII last year in 2013 at EVO, and we finished on time and had a great time.

I'm here to ask for your help! I want to know who you think the top seeds should be! We did not have a Road to Evo 2014 this year like we did in the last year, so I figured that I'd peek my head in to see what you all thought. There are a lot of events and, to be frank, KOF XIII is such a global game that there are people from all over the world that we may miss that should rightfully be seeded for the event, so any help you can give us when we determine who our seeds would be will be fantastic.

Please feel free to discuss in this thread! (Most importantly, try to keep it mostly civil.)

Thanks for your time!

Sup man, I stickied this thread for more people can view it and discuss their thoughts easier. We might bring this question up on our podcast tonight.

As far as my thoughts, I would need to think this over and I'll post them later.

Reynald and Tokido are the top two contenders right now IMO, but that's not to say that a surprise won't happen. It's kind of funny how Tokido has emerged at the top of the Japanese scene considering how all the hype surrounded other Japanese players in the past (Kaoru and Haregoro for example). Korea has kind of fallen off with MadKOF not looking as strong and (as per Koogle Translator) many of the CafeId guys not finding as much time to play (sadly). Don't even know who would make it from Mexico, because I am sure I would place at least one contender to win from there should their top players show up.

Outside the winner, I hope (assuming he's there) that Zero Black has his true breakout performance. He was on the cusp of making top 8 in 2012 and let a pretty huge lead slip against Tokido in 2013. This is partially due my hope that a Terry players makes the grade at last. He is mad good but has had issues keeping his nerve. He is my pick for a dark horse.

I should be clearer: think of the top 8 / 16 / 32 players in no particular order and list them out. You don't have to be thorough. You can just list 8. You can list 16. Maybe just list a number in between! But at least give me your 8 :)

Your reasoning is helpful too, but in reality I want to hear what the community in general thinks.

majors throughout this year don't count towards seeding?

Tokido had to be 1st seed tho since he's currently the strongest right now

Honestly, we should first take a look at major tournament results of 2014 and then give priority seeding to the players who made top 3 because they earned them. After wards, we can go over who should be seeded based on how the community feels their skill level is. Based on what I've read from FB/Twitter Reynald, Romance, Fox, Koopa and Bala won't be attending Evo this year so I'll be excluding them from this list.

1) Tokido - Should be given the best seed because he's the most consistent tournament player this year. He's recently won KoF at  IGT2014, NWM6, and SEAM2014.

2) Luis Cha - Outside of Reynald, he's probably the 2nd most consistent tournament player this year. 1st at Japanawa 2014, 1st at Stunfest 2014, 2nd at CEO2014, 4th at SCR2014

Besides these two I'm not sure about the order of seeding the following players.

Violent Kain - 2nd place at Japonawa2014 and 9th at SCR2014. Probably the most consistent player with the EX Iori rekka loops
Khannibalito - 1st at SCR2014, 2nd at Hyper Battle
Woo - 2nd at Evo2013.
MadKoF - 1st at Evo2012, 3rd at Evo2013
Verna - 2 time top 8 placement at Evo
ET - 2nd at IGT2014

The above would be my top 8 seeds based on tournament track record for the year as well as past Evo performances. I would also seed the following players.

Toshi
Javier
Huevo
Pako
Mr.KoF
Ricky Diaz
Chris KoF
Lacid
Ren
