Correct me if I'm wrong, but in KOF 2002 UM and KOF XI I'm fairly sure that you can't tech throws while in the recovery frames of a whiffed/blocked special move?
Was that something added in? I didn't play KOF 12 and never will, so I don't know if it's actually possible in the game as well.
Given that they went through the trouble of adding Alternate Guard back in (after being absent from KOF XI), it wouldn't surprise me...
-
12 didn't even have tech throws.
-
I tested it, and yes you can 0_o

Yeah, I noticed at NEC. I kept getting Burn Knuckles with Terry instead of Crack Shoot when going for blockstrings, and you all know how unsafe BK is on block that close, but I could keep teching throws like nothing.
First UMvC3, now XIII...anywhere tech is everywhere.
-
Well it's far more annoying in UMVC3 than in KOF, KOF normal throws are not as powerful as in UMVC3 (They are never the best option to punish something to start with).
-
Yes, we can! xD
Thats a SUPA good idea!! That rocks! :)

That's what I was afraid of.
To quote one Barry Burton: "OHH MY COD"

You can always tech, even during a special move's startup. I don't really understand why they brought Alternate Guard back, since it wasn't in the arcade ver, but I don't dislike it~ , like half the cast have command grabs after all.
-
So you unless you have a command grab, you can't punish rolls on reaction with a throw? Not a huge fan of that...
-
Rolls have a lot of recovery in KoF XIII. You can easily punish with a damaging combo instead of a throw.
-
I have been playing kof XI for years (until XIII console was released) and I am 100% sure you can tech throws while on recovery frames of a block attach also.
Throws hace always been the worst option to punish recovery.
-
This is a bit silly, someone needs to let SNKp know asap and release a patch.
-
KoF is like that on purpose, snk is fully aware of it. They even decided to bring back Alternate Guard, that was missing on the arcade version.

Well you can't tech throw if you are in the rolling move, but you can on the roll recovery.
It's that are showing my test though.
-
It was like this in previous KOF games as well, so it's nothing new. I think the reason for it is to keep things from being punishable by any character if they're only at -1 frame disadvantage or so. Throws are usually a bad punish option anyway, so it's really not a big deal.
-
Yeah I thought this was the case after playing against a local Terry. Anyways not that big of a deal compared to MvC3. It will make you salty if get a accidental grab punish instead of a close ;c / ;d punish though. I'm so used to punishing bad rolls with grabs from cvs2 though :( Something I need to relearn

You still can't tech during Roll recovery. Only special recovery is techable.

Arcade version did have it, some characters just didn't. They simply fixed it.

always could always will
