This forum (compared to others) is far from being one with pony hype
For why the show is popular, well, honestly the show is really good, the plots are simple but funny, and overall the mane characters are really well done
I like the show but I'm starting to get tired of all the memes and some bronies, so I just enjoy the show and that's it

MLP Fighting Magic has impressed me since the animations are really good
But the game itself, doesn't look that exciting IMO, even though I still want to kick butts with Fluttershy
