Rules:
General Rules.
G1. All Games will be Best of 5 Rounds.
G2. All Matches will be Best of 5 Games unless the Players have already played each other in the Event.
G3. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time, their Match will expand to a Best of 11, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 3 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 11 will resume with Game 4 and Player A leading 3 Games to 0. The winner of a Finals Best of 11 Games Match will win the Event.
G4. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other, an initial Best of 5 Games Match must be played. If the Player that came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event. If the Player that came from the Losers Bracket wins the initial Match, the Match will expand to a Best of 11, include the initial Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if the Losers Bracket Player beat the Winners Bracket Player 3 Games to 0 in the initial Match, the Best of 11 will resume with Game 4 and the Losers Bracket Player leading 3 Games to 0.
KOF XIII Rules
1. Players may not quit out of a Game before it has ended, without Referee’s permission.
2. Players may not incorrectly end a Game, without Referee’s permission.
3. Players who break Gameplay Rules #1-2 will Forfeit the Game.
4. Players who Pause a Round, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Round. When a Round is forfeited, the Round must be un-paused, the winner of the Round must use Basic Attacks to gain a health advantage, and the Round timer must then be allowed to expire.
5. With Referee’s permission, Players may start a Game, prior to the start of Game 1, in order to check their settings. Such Games may not last longer than one minute.
6. The higher seeded Player must choose to play on the left or right side of the screen, before the start of the Match. The Players must then select their correct side at the Controller Select Screen.
7. Players may request a Blind Pick of Characters for Game 1 of a Match.
8. The loser of each Game may select new Characters for the next Game. The winner of each Game won’t be allowed to select new Characters for the next Game, however, they will be allowed to change the order in which their Characters will fight in the next Game. If a Match expands to a Best of 11, the loser of the Best of 5 Games Match may select new Characters for the next Game. The winner of the Best of 5 Games Match won’t be allowed to select new Characters for the next Game, however, they will be allowed to change the order in which their Characters will fight in the next Game.
9. The “?” Stage Option must be selected for Game 1 of a Match unless both Players agree on a specific Stage.
10. The loser of each Game must select a specific Stage, or the “?” Stage Option, for the next Game. If a Match expands to a Best of 11, the loser of the Best of 5 Games Match must select a specific Stage, or the “?” Stage Option, for the next Game.
11. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted from the beginning.
12. Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game won’t be allowed to play in the Game. Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game. Players who are disqualified won’t receive any benefits (seeding, prize, etc.) for their ranking in the Event.
13. Games can’t end on a Draw. If a Round ends in a Draw, and counting the Draw as a win for both Players would result in the end of the Match, the Game must be reset with the appropriate pre-Draw Round Score.

Time to let Midwest and East Coast people's know. Still hoping they'll be good numbers at MLG & NCR.
I was planning on going to NCR....But I'm already doing my research on making arrangements for this event.
You sure you can make that turnaround in 3 Weeks?

You were not registered on the tournament right? at least I didn't see you on the NCR pools, but maybe I'm wrong
my bad, those were fr xv pools
I really don't think it'll draw anyone from the West Coast on such short notice, but who knows.
Well East Coast is already surprising me with how it's going with KOF at FR. Maybe the WC won't need to come out in force for this.
Here's an update as far as I know.

it's eLive Pro Oogosho I think
wouldn't be surprised if someone from Europe or Canada came to this.
If Abe is going, someone make him and someone from the East Coast do commentary
Abe + Sabin would be nice
Okay, updated the list.
not sure if im enterting but i at least wanna be around for hotel casuals
Will put you up as a maybe. I just want to get a good idea of who is going. I really hope more big names step in.
EDIT: Added tournament schedule to the thread.
Yo reiki you are doing an amazing job keepingus informed about the turnabouts of this tourney
Pretty smart move by mlg, they will play the finals in the day were everybody will be playing the pools on NCR, so that will not make problems for the guys who want to see the finals of both tournies
Yea, I think that's really good stuff for us. Just a big crunch here.
Can't wait.
So over the night, I posted everyone that was revealed to be going or possibly going from the US Scene podcast with Metaphysics and Giby Zia. Please keep me posted, I feel this is important to keep track of!

Hey juicebox, I hope than you start doing commentary again if spooky streams this event, you made a great event with great matches even more great
Apparently, the amount of SoCal players going to NCR has shifted. Many of them are going to MLG. I don't know the exact amount, but so many are going to MLG or not going because their friends aren't going to NCR, that they don't even want to hold a tryouts for the 5v5 at NCR.
Real lame, but wishing all the participants best of luck anyway.
they're gonna be at Milpitas Golfland? I kid, but yeah just wanted to point out the typo.
so hold up, is the NCR 5v5 even happening in spite of that? If so, is STA going to be doing quals for it or will the team be determined by the rankings?
I agree that it's unfortunate for those of us that wanted to square off with SoCal once again, but the competition at MLG will be fierce (not to mention, what was it like 6 Gs for the pot?) so naturally I think the best down there would be attracted to it. I wish them well.
Fixed the typo, but I don't really know. We should still do a battle, but it doesn't seem real when it's a thrown together team. Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread. We should stick to the topic at hand: MLG. The rules should be posted soon and DLC characters are allowed.

Maybe you can work out a 5v5 versus the UCI group. I'm sure that would be a lot of fun.
We'll see. I just updated the roster with B.A.L.A, but if more people who are not on the list are listed, lemme know please.
EDIT: Just checked iplaywinner.com. Mortal Kombat's money pool has doubled. This could also happen for KOF and SCV so standby for more news.
http://www.gytnews.com/articles/commentary/understanding-the-continuation-rule.html (http://www.gytnews.com/articles/commentary/understanding-the-continuation-rule.html)
Interesting rule...though it seems like it makes it THAT much harder to come back to win the title after losing in Winner's Finals.
That rule is pretty brutal.
While it greatly rewards someone for getting all the way to Grand Finals from the Winner's side, it brutally punishes those who make it that far and then lose, as it becomes much more likely to face the one that put them in Loser's in the first place.
Our house, our money, our rules - MLG
That rule is shitty by the way and MLGAdam's explanation was "it's superior" lol. If you run into someone a second time, the loser of the first match has to finish winning his first meeting + this match from my understanding. Like if he lost 2-1, his second encounter he'd need to win 4 matches.
Show up and just enforce our standard ruleset. Should be boycotting this shit due to their rules ("we're going to involve the community, it'll be just like a FGC event" sike) and going to NCR but no one is going to walk away from that much cash.
I don't think it'll matter if they're gonna do the same thing that they did to MK9 and double the pot. That'll REALLY make people jump hoops. 33k pot, 12k first place?
Xian is going to MLG
https://twitter.com/#!/XianMSG
He's looking for a hotel looks like. Someone help him out if you can.
Have the rules been set yet? I talked to Reynald about it and he said that's it just interesting.
Team Chaos, David Kong and The Answer are going to NCR, so that's more than 5 players going.
Updated with the rules.
Romance tweeted today that he'll be attending MLG. The list of top players attending this tourney is insane I really can't wait for it.
Looks like the Answer is officially commentating at MLG (didn't know we had to have official commentators). In any event, guess that's a confirmation he'll be there.
If that's the case, I wouldn't mind tuning it. I was worried for a second that we'd be esports-as-hell commentators like they do for everything else. As much as I love Gears, man they're painful to hear... >_>
Hi guys, I'm a director for the MLG event for all the fighting games (production wise,) so any questions just ask me here. Or ask me on twitter @nycfurby. List of whos confirmed for the event would be nice guys thx! :P

MMM, a friend told me that art was now the director of mlg, good for him and team spooky in general,I hope that you guys can put some knowledge there
15 people registered so far for KoF 13 @ MLG Colombus
Online registration ends tonight
Yea, I thought there was gonna be a decent amount of activity on here re: whos going and maybe some front page stuff, but I guess not. I have to find out whos going by doin detective work and asking other players. Xian shhould be in attendance tho, pretty sick.
Remember guys if you don't speak up, I can't help you if you're coming to this event
I don't think it's that people aren't interested but RIGHT after Final Round XV & it being announced the Friday of FR, traveling arrangements are a bit tight because I know many, if not most of us, wished to come to this. I'm sure the quality of the matches will be good though.

There's a $100 bundle if you want to play in all 3 fighters.
Yep, it will be really hard to see more numbers when the event was announced on so short time and also on the same day that NCR will be held, the only people who would have changed their schedule were the guys that known that stand a chance to win money.
Also, from the professor
Ogosho won't be going to MLG. He was supposed to be invited by them together with a number of other players from Europe, but they told them at the last minute that they never sent any invites like that. He's complaining about it on Twitter and I'm sure the others will follow. Right now, he's streaming while boozing and complaining about this whole incident.
Also, RF didn't get an invite to begin with, so he's not going. Tokido isn't planning to go either. To put it another way, MLG won't have any Japanese players.
Twitter comments from Ogosho:
http://twitter.com/gosyo_kof/status/181737318628069377 (http://twitter.com/gosyo_kof/status/181737318628069377)
"Regarding America, D44 was able to make contact with their guy in charge, but he was told that there wasn't anything like that to begin with."
http://twitter.com/gosyo_kof/status/181737412194611200 (http://twitter.com/gosyo_kof/status/181737412194611200)
"A number of players from Europe also fell victim to this incident, and they can't do anything about it. They(MLG) probably didn't mean any harm and it's hard to figure out where this all started to begin with. I wasn't sure if I could go there so I'm not angry, but I'm appalled at this whole situation."
Removed all of the JP players. Gonna wait on removing the Chinese ones. This seems to be taking a turn for the worse.
Rogueyoshi says he's probably not coming. #esp0rtz
nvm hes coming!
Wow, extremely disappointed that this happened. The quality of the matches could have been absolutely insane with that international presence. :( I hope they do another MLG KoF event and these guys manage to come down somehow. If not then it's up to Evo to bring the hypest KoF tournament of all time.
Yeah, it's like I was saying. That three week notice might've been too small to overcome.
hi guys , sorry i didnt know where to post .. my friend skye (justius) from singapore is flying with me in about 5 hours time to MLG too :)
Do you mind adding his name in as well? thanks ..
he already registered in the website :)
see you guys soon !! ^_^

It's been tricky to find some info on the PPV stuff (seems like something to consider if we want KoF to stick around and not be a one-shot thing), but I take it this is the URL for that: https://secure.justin.tv/mlg_arena/subscribe/123/signup ?
There wouldn't happen to be a way to narrow it down to just the KoF schedules, would there?...
i'm pre-regged for mlg and need a place to crash.

Yea, pretty sure it's not going to reach the 128 person cap. You can sign up at the venue.
This goes for the places with states that cannot register due to gambling laws (AZ for instance.)
And yea, if you were to enter all 3 it is $100 not 180, lol.
I didn't expect people to go crazy over MLG since Final Round ended so recently. And I just got hired by them so I have to pick up where they left off.
Good Luck then Art, I hope that the numbers for KOF don't discourage the organization
Yeah, best of luck Art with getting attention for the event. The numbers are small but the level of play should be a real treat for anyone watching and a fan of the game.
Got a spectator pass last week, so look forward to seeing the matches unfold and perhaps some people from here.
can anyone house me, hav, and skisonic? we are leaving tonight
Damn. How the fuck did KOF XIII got into MLG?
Shit just got real...
Good Luck, Mr. KOF and Duc.
Lyvar? Wow, welcome to Dream Cancel old friend, CMD_Duc and my old sparring partner from 10 years ago has finally registered. Hit me up and let's get some games in.
Also, when you get a chance introduce yourself here (http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?board=9.0).
