Players if you’re arriving Friday please call me, you can coming to my room (801) and pay your registration and entry fee or buy one of the fly ass NECXII shirts (designed by Kazi). That would really help me out if you guys can do that. See contact section for the appropriate information.
I have changed a lot of entry fee so players can have some kind of money left over to do other things with like eat and party or do whatever. I think this will help the numbers in some of the smaller games too.
GAME RULES:
Unless otherwise stated all console tournaments will be played on PS3.
All singles tournaments will be standard format 2/3 games for normal matches and 3/5 for finals matches.
Team tournaments are single match the entire tournament including all finals matches.
SCHEDULE:
Venue and entry fees will be collected between 9am and 5pm both days. Please allow 1 hour prior to tournament start time to register. Even if you preregistered online you will still need to check in at the registration desk for each tournament.

Me and JT will be running KOF13 on sunday. Jaxel of 8wayrun will stream it for us. We will be running it on PS3. Any new information regarding rules will be address upon/after the game's release.
JT will also be running Garou but he hasn't decided if it will be held after hours or during tournament. He'll let you know soon.

we're expecting over 700 people to be in attendence for NEC. At least 200 a piece for AE and MvC3. If we held it on saturday we'd ahve no room for it to be held in and with so many players competeing in multiple games it would take a long time to find and run the tournament. At least on sunday things will have wind down a bit and we should be able to run it quickly and efficiently.

Awesome! I'm ok with a one day tournament for now as long as it's official. I'm sure that once the signups open and you guys get 100+ sigups they'll make it a 2 day event HAHAHAHAHAHA! I will definetely try to make it out to this one.

While I'm not the official word on things, I imagine KOFXIII is still safe to be at NEC. I don't see why not considering earlier this year, Marvel 3 was released only a week and a half/two weeks before Winter Brawl; yet it was still a part of the Winter Brawl lineup.

I'll most likely be there since I've already out in a request to have Saturday off. I'd imagine the KOF13 tourney if there is one will take place all on Saturday. And since I work overnights, I won't have a problem making it back on time on Sunday just in case we want to play any extra casual matches.

I also do need a favor. Since I'm permanently banned from SRK, it makes it...inconvenient for signing up for tourneys.
If someone wouldn't mind, I need someone to at least tell Eric over there that I'm gonna attempt to sign up for AE, UMvC3, KOFXIII (obviously), CvS2 and SF3:OE and any team tourneys of the events listed. I also need teams for said events lol.

Yeah...now I just have to get one of my two ways to get there (either driving which means I have to get my license and borrow a car soon, or take a bus which will be a pain) and I'll get there on the 2nd.

In all honesty I'm actually nervous about the event now, when I consider going I wasn't expecting for it to get this big but now shit is serious.

To my knowledge, KOF will be going both days, the bulk of which will be on Saturday. We're going to try getting it down to top 4/8 or as close as possible by 10-11pm Saturday, and conclude the rest on Sunday.
As for registration, at the moment you can register online and pay the venue fee at http://www.necphilly.com/archives/necxii-online-registration/ (http://www.necphilly.com/archives/necxii-online-registration/) (which I'd suggest if you haven't already since it'll save you about $10). Registration for KOF tournament itself will occur on the day of the event.

i have not heard any official word about rogueyoshi/darkgeese, but it sounds like if they were to add to the pot, the total bonus would come to $1500.

If it's on PS3 I'm going to have to skip cause I don't have a PS3 stick and if I borrow anyones it mos tlikely wil be a Japanese stick which I dont play on. Oh well, I'm still going to enter the Garou tourney and will most likely be there with my camcorder to record matches if I'm allowed to. Also may give some interviews if anyone wants to be interviewed. Also doubt I will stay until Sunday but I'll be there as long as I can if anything goes down overnight.

Regarding teams, we were discussing about it the other night. If we throw together a team tourney, it'd likely have to be on Sunday given time/space constraints. One concern I had was what to do about button configurations when switching players between rounds? Similarly, what about switching sticks/controllers for player preference? There's pad players to consider along with players (like myself) who don't play on japanese sticks; buttons configured SNK line layout or box layout. You could form teams that use the same everything (one stick/controller, one control scheme), but that may alienate some players from playing. Otherwise, it'd boil down to having to pause the game in between each round to make button and controller changes which would make matches take longer to finish (and be somewhat annoying to do constantly).
The Answer: how do you guys in SoCal usually handle running 3v3 teams? Any thoughts/comments on my controller/button concerns above?

Fuck yeah I just registered lol, I woke up this morning as was like "FFFFFUUUUUUUUU" cause I forgot about the deadline but I'm cool now.
About teams tourney is just like Metaphysics said, pretty much eveybody plays the oldschool config so we don't really have that problem. but I think if we pause the game right at the beginning of the round and configure the buttons it should go pretty fast. Based on the singles registration I'm guessing we'll have 8 teams at most and if you have 4 setups this should take no more than 2 hours max.
This will be the first time anything like this is ever done so I'll leave it up to you guys but I think it will be a fun addition to NEC.

The reason why Wong can play numerous fighting games is because he understands the neutral game and how footsies work to your advantage. He didn't even really utilize the system mechanics (aside from using GCCD's quite often). In terms of KoF, I think it's a good lesson for newcomers: regardless of how flashy and damaging combos are, unless you have a solid foundation to implement them, you won't do well against experienced opponents. Build that foundation and everything will fall into place around it.
That said, good job with the stream guys. Stream chat was praising it for the informative-ness, and the video quality was great. Looking forward to Top 8 tomorrow.

It's more the damage scaling on Goro's hd combo than the Neomax which is troublesome, because if his hd combo would have 50+hits the neomax wouldn't have dealt that much.

Three words touch of death one individual in question who received it :( it was just beautiful. I believe from what I've seen that KOF has a great chance at EVO this year. Its building more and more hype no that its really become a part of the tournament I can't wait to participate in march when it comes to Final Round.
