May want to call this arcade about that. I hear it just may be an older KOF (probably XII) there.

Good to see another place get the game. Whoever goes out there have some fun with it. Still waiting on Chinatown Fair to get the game. Really hoping they get it soon. I know me and a lot of others are eagerly awaiting.

I went to the Schaumburg Gameworks today, but there were no KOF13 cabs.
They only have 2 KOF12 cabs.

To be honest, that Gameworks is not the kind of place to get the latest fighting games.
For the past 8 years, they've been neglecting fighting games in favor of other arcade machines.

Post by: nilcam on August 06, 2010, 11:35:00 PM
I've removed them from the list. I guess their employees don't have a clue or don't even care about answering questions honestly.

I'd say that they can't read roman numerals.

Thats exactly what happened to me, when I called the Gameworks in Seattle.

"hey do you guys have the new King of Fighters game?"
"yup"
"Really? 13, not 12, just released in Japan"
"yeah we have it"

They only had two XII cabs.

Does anyone know if we can use the KOF12 cab and just install the KOf13 software? I'm assuming they both are running on the same hardware unless there was a change.

I'd imagine if this is possible it can save some people tons of money compared to buying the entire unit.

Yes all you need is the KOF XIII Rom if you already have a taito type x2 board. I think they sell the upgrade kits right now too.

Don't get confuse this with a PATCH. this is to upgrade the KOF XII software on your Taito X2 board to the KOF XIII software. So pretty much saves you the money of buying a new X2 board.

This is a great option for people who already have an X2 board.

Do you have other list where I can look for arcade cabinet? I've visited Arcade Infinity and Arcade UFO but haven't found the one I like. I am looking for a design that is modern, something different compared to the usual cabinets with bold colors.

Exactly. it's killing the majority of people who want to play this game in the US that they don't have access to it. And from what I've heard recently, it seems that it will be a good while before CTF considers getting a KOF13 cab :( I just hope those statements aren't accurate and they pick it up real soon.

And if you guys don't mind me asking this here, were there ever cabs for 2k2UM and 98UM? Cause if there were, I take it there must've not been many of them made.

If you mean official 02UM and 98UM cabs, I don't think so. But we have cabs for 02UM head to head, a 98UM cab and an XI cab. All of them still get plenty of love at AI specially 02UM (I <3 SoCal)
Title: Re: Cabinet locations
Post by: Cibernetico on August 22, 2010, 07:26:33 PM
That's cool to hear. As much as it's loved here in NYC, the guys who own it don't seem that dedicated to ever put up custom made cabs just for 98UM and 2k2UM. And I don't think there was ever a XI cab. I've asked some people who go here to play KOF all the time and they've never seen one.

Finally found an arcade that has KOF XIII in Taiwan. Been busy here, but found one in Kaohsiung Central Park area. It's a back to back cabinet, and one of the sides was broken and they won't have someone to fix it until Saturday and I'll be in another city by then. There was only 1 guy playing it who was actually decent.

I was able to do practice mode and found out that there's no button selection choice. Their layout was

ABC
D

Still not used to it, only got to play 2 practice modes worth. Will report further if I find competition or any other place that has it.

Actually, today I went to there, the travel is only 45 minutes in subway switching between lines, I hate to trip on subway on long periods, but it was not that terrible, at least playing the game justified the travel

Now has KOFXIII at $0.25 per play, its version 1.1

Not KOF related, but they also have SSF4AE for $0.25 per play as well!!!

KOF XIII is a good find, but SSF4:AE for .25 cents that is shocking!!!!!

Yes.

Sorry, I think most of us don't know the answer to that question.  SoCal has three XIII so I guess a better question would be, why would you want to play XII and XI then?! Heh.

KOF XI is the masterpiece game that retired the old style graphics.

This is in my top 3 of favorite 2D fighters KOF 98 UM, SF 3rd Strike, KOF XI.

Knowing about some KOF XI locations would be swell.

Extremely happy to report that norcal has its first KOFXIII cab, and at SF State University.

Right across the street from my house :D

Played for a half an hour straight today, there was some salt from the peanut gallery about it replacing BB:CS (which is pretty much a dead game in Norcal sadly). Coming from even a meager background in KOFXI I was able to get a head start on most of the players, I wasn't able to answer all questions other than how to use DCs and HD mode but I'll be working hard to expand on that as well as promote this forum.

"King of Fighters XIII is officially up and running at the Galloping Ghost Arcade! Its in a Dynamo cabinet, with a 27" Asus monitor, and brand new Sanwa joysticks and buttons! "

I'll post pics next time I go.  I won the marvel 3 tournament there this weekend and part of the prize was a pass to go back.  If you live near chicago and haven't been to GGA you are missing out.  They have 100+ games and tons of cabs for the latest games.  You pay 15 bucks to get in but everything is on freeplay, and they are open until 2AM EVERY DAY.

actually there wasnt any different from that setup and the normal lcd cabinet. Now they put ssf4ae in there, so 13 is hosted in two linked Taito LCD...unfortunately now one of the sticks is really too loosy, everytime a go there it just doesnt feel right ... anyway now 13 players seems to have moved to ssf4ae so i think they were just playing 13 cause of the bigscreen appeal (if u where there to play lots of ppl were just starring at the graphics)...this in both the arcades (well in the first one ,KKmall, there werent player before, now it`s the same lol).

Really?!  It'd seemed like Lovegety was reluctant to get on any fighters that weren't easy money like SSF4AE.  Time to start going there again, I guess.  Any confirmation if it's ver 1.1 (or is there an easy way to check)?

EDIT: Confirmed that Lovegety has an english XIII machine.  Address & phone number:

505 Highway 7
Thornhill, ON L3T 7P6

I'll try actually playing on it tomorrow (or wednesday at worst) to check the version.  Figure I can just try to do an HD bypass roll cancel to see if it's 1.1 or not.

Good to hear KOF XIII is getting some Canadian love, and if you want to find out what version it is, the easiest way is to look at the title screen and you should see a big V1.1 at the bottom right corner. You don't even have to put a coin in.

Finally played it at Galloping Ghosts Arcade in Illinois. Nice set-up, might be the only one in the midwest. Apparently there are competent players that surface there from time to time, so anyone maybe a state away or more from Illinois who feels like playing the arcade (ver1.1 btw) experience prior to the console release, here's the chance.

A plus to that arcade is $15 for a day pass, and free play for every game (too many good games there).

Your closest bet is Galloping Ghosts Arcade in Illinois now. Hopefully it's a much shorter distance for you than it was for me.
Days away considering I'm in Northeast Ohio, and with my luck it'll be in the Southwest.

Well, an arcade from near of my house has bring the game, Is sad, because I had the game near of my house now than

1) I returned to college
2) They are charging more for the credits
3) Console will be released in 2 more months

If the game had an update, will be cool to see, the arcade experience is more cool than online

If you are in the getty area, PM me and let's start networking.  I will be hosting weekly/bi-weekly casuals once it hits console to develop a strong scene!

Nonsense, more locations are always better.  Let's hope that the rumor of an arcade patch is true.

Anyone know if University Pinball in Philly has it?  I doubt it but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask (especially because I can't actually visit that place for a while).

If (based on what I remember from last time) they still have that BBCT machine they need to get that out and KOFXIII in, with console release upcoming it'd be pretty big.  Also if they got an MBAA machine back in (I think they had one at one point) it would probably get played seeing as the PC version's coming out.

Then again, neither games are SF4 or Marvel so who knows xD
