Title: KOFXIII Framedata
Post by: Kirah on October 28, 2011, 03:19:00 AM
UPDATE: I have merged the request thread with the Frame Data thread jump down to this post -Kane317: http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=1414.msg47298#msg47298 (http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=1414.msg47298#msg47298)

ANOTHER UPDATE Signed by R compiled keykakko's Frame Data table into a google spreadsheet which has a majority of the cast: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AsrvpuirdQzwdGM0UDlRcGozMkJBQVZES0F4Zmw1MGc&f=true&noheader=true&gid=0 (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AsrvpuirdQzwdGM0UDlRcGozMkJBQVZES0F4Zmw1MGc&f=true&noheader=true&gid=0) - Desmond Delaghetto

I have a question more of a request or maybe more of a prayer. I firmly believe that frame data for each char in KOFXIII should be put in the respective character discussion threads. As a person who uses frame data to plot strategically the validity of normals and specials this can greatly improve strategy through out the entire community. I know this request maybe a bit heavy , but in short words it'll be god-like. XD

isn't there frame data in the wiki?
if not wouldn't that be the best place to put it, since you probably would look there first?

I could be wrong, but i think that info usually comes from Guides and game mooks, and there was nothing like that in the (arcade) KOF XIII guide used to make the wiki.

Yeah the KOF XIII  Master Guide has no frame data in it and would be irrelevant vs console as a lot of moves have been changed. If memory serves me, I think some of the mooks for previous KOFs may have had this data but am a little doubtful (I remember there being tables for each chr on black and white pages with damage, and maybe frames along with that). It would be quite a project to capture and document total frames, invincibility frames, adv/disadv frames, hitbox frames and when these all start/stop for each move.

I do agree that such data would be good for strategy, but realistically that may boil down to folks making general comments on each move after studying them in practice mode against certain dummy settings or something :|

Well if I can some how help with that then I'd definitely be willing to participate and contribute. Because framedata in my opinion is quintessential for advanced strategies.

Yeah, I'd probably help with that too. Let's see how fit for doing something like that is with practice mode. I'm hoping for lots of meta-data on HUD as an option, but we'll see.

I'm thinking while not as necessary as in VF/TK series where knowing frames is everything, it would be awesome if we could get a consensus on best punish responses and safe strings. At the very least, we'd want the fastest normals for each character.

Still a bit daunted by the task though, but hopefully we'll see or find something useful for the wikis.

Yeah, i'm still lost on things to punish in this game so I can't seize opportunities to properly damage.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but this site has a partial list of frame data.  It's in japanese, but I presume google translate will help you understand most of it.  If not, feel free to leave a note and I'll see if I can translate it.

Nice find. So far I see lists for Yuri, K', Vice, Takuma, Shen, Joe, Normal Kyo, Benimaru, Iori, Kula and DouLon. If you and anyone else can translate this stuff, we can add to the wiki asap. Thanks.

I'll take this on.  Awesome find Lazie.

This should be straight forward to bang out in terms of the tables that are there.

I have the most time for it this coming sat/sun night.

Des, you want the same format? I think that would work. Lemme know where it should sit relative to everything else.
(very bottom I would think, before the credits and so on)

Also the post is from Dec and hasn't been added to probably due to the rigors of doing it.
Do we have a continuation plan?

I also know that Ky0 is solid in Japanese, think he can help if we need extra hands. Point is, information is from Dec, doesn't have to be today for us, but should be well within a week otherwise it's going to drag and we'll get distracted with other stuff.

I think under the videos and above the references will do. Try it out and show it to me if you could.

no way dude its all about eating giant combos in return for trying to get 80 damage and a soft knockdown
Title: Re: Frame Data
Post by: hiltzy85 on February 24, 2012, 07:24:39 PM
ok, so quick question...I have figured out the obvious things.  first column is the move in question, second is damage, fourth is startup and 5th is frames on block.  I guess 6th column is special notes or whatever, but what is the 3rd column?  recovery? active frames?  I put it into google translate and got "The tan"

So, anything that we can do to help. I'd like to do as much as I can :-D

Also, is there any consensus on some of these frame data values? I can imagine we can take it and believe it, but does anyone feel any doubts about it?

I haven't seen anything that seems glaringly wrong, although I've only actually looked through a few of the characters.  It seems pretty legit

'22 frames on entire motion for whiff'' what is the meaning of this?
Title: Re: Frame Data

So, anything that we can do to help. I'd like to do as much as I can :-D

Right now BioBooster and I have been entering it into the wiki. He has been translating the kanji, making tables and punching in numbers, while I have been using the tables he has made as templates and entering the normals numbers, and putting in the kanji for the specials for he can finish it up.

Some examples:

http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Iori_Yagami_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata (http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Iori_Yagami_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata)

http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Benimaru_Nikaido_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata (http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Benimaru_Nikaido_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata)

So if you wanna help, you can use those tables as templates for the other characters (those two is who we have so far right now) and put in the numbers and put in the kanji for BioBooster to translate when he gets a chance.

My guess would be that if you do the move, and it whiffs, it is 22 frames until you can act again.  So the 22 frames is the total for start up, active and recovery frames

I believe it's how much it reduces the stun gauge, not the frames of hitstun.

That actually makes more sense (the points of stun), considering that all the heavy attacks are 7...good point.  Is it possible that the two values are actually the same (so long as the move doesn't knock down)?

Thanks for the table above Reiki.

Would you be able to put it into this format (for wiki)?

!Move || Damage || Stun || Startup || On Guard || Remarks

|- style="color:#003366; background-color:#99CCFF;" align="left"

Then I can just past into wiki and follow up.

Those are the various stages of the move. The first hit does more damage while the 2nd and 3rd hit have different base damage values.

Doing's Kula's atm
I just did half of Yuri's. I wonder with some of those moves, what are the extra numbers mean, for example: EX雷煌拳2-3 ...it is a part of the hits of one move?

http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Yuri_Sakazaki_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata (http://dreamcancel.com/wiki/index.php?title=Yuri_Sakazaki_%28XIII%29#Move_Metadata)
Those are the various stages of the move. The first hit does more damage while the 2nd and 3rd hit have different base damage values.

Cool thanks.

Also, I've been thinking, but should each character have their own individual frame data wiki page then having another page link to all of those? Then we can just use one link in their wiki's to use up less space? Kinda like this: http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Arcana_Heart_3/Frame_Data (http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Arcana_Heart_3/Frame_Data)

I do also think in those frame tables we should have the move motions/notations with the name just in-case people (like myself) don't remember the actual move names. Anyone agree? Disagree?

I personally like Dustloop's wiki style (http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ragna_the_Bloodedge_%28BBCSE%29). The main page for the character is actually longer but I like how each move has its own little write up with all their properties and frame data, along with the sprite/hitbox next to it.
Then they have a separate page with all the frame data on a big chart.

You are the man, insanely helpful when you guys do this. I'll get on it.

Re: Style - the dustloop stuff would be great if we had the resources (or if our current wiki team can get inspired enough to pull it off). Definitely looks good. It does assume that we have a complete set of frame stuff for all the chrs to match it as is. This shouldn't stop us from keeping that sort of layout in mind.

Re: Separate pages - Rather than support separate pages which can be tedious to manage, it'd be a lot better if we had collapsible sections for the large lengthy bits. Looking into it, Mediawiki supports jQuery or JS, etc. Trying some out, I don't think we have it installed on our deployment. We'd all be able to use it pretty easily. The latter can be used in the same table format we've been working with recently for example (apparently we don't have jQuery installed either)>

{| class="wikitable collapsible"
! K' moves and stuff
|-
| Here are the moves that would be hidden if we had this feature turned on
|}

Is this something nilcam can look into? Would make a big difference.

Re: special cmds in table - At first I thought this would make tables too dense, until I saw that Kane had done it in his duo lon table. Looks good, lets add these next to the move name - another problem I saw was that the move name translations for the images at the very top must've been very early translations, bc many don't match what the English should be. This will help clear up the confusion.

I think there are a couple errors in the Iori frame data table...The original japanese website had dp+C listed at 14 frames start up (which I believe is correct, it is much slower than dp+A), and the table has it listed at 4.  Also, there are no frames on block listed for shougetsu+A in the table, whereas the japanese site has the second hit at -8

I helped fixed the typos for Iori; it's correct now.

Don't know anyone who does.  Hell, the only time I ever see Raiden play these days is through MadKoF's vids...and I'm pretty sure Raiden's not his main (unless he's starting to tire of Duo/Shen/Kim).
Title: Re: KOFXIII Framedata

Ironic bc Raiden is still plenty viable and more enjoyable to use.

Kane thanks for the fixes.

Des, much appreciated - will get to that today.

I'd use him, but I'm still confused as to how he should be used.  I'm guessing very few Raidens will use his Dropkicks ever again outside of HD combos (only time I see MadKoF charge them is when he's well on his way to an OCV and is trolling).  I'm guessing a plethora of normals, Giant Bombs with and without feints, and Green Mists?

Are you planning on releasing more data? or maybe there is an opportunity for us to band together and finish the other characters? (will need a little coaching)

The frame, shot with 60FPS videos on PC, have been investigating in the frame advance. Is easy.
I will also examine the frame data of other characters. ;)

It is inevitable, Mr. Anderson.

Matrix j/k.

But I'm gonna really be worried once EX Kyo and Joe will be up.

Off topic but, the KoF ATWiki also uses a really organized layout:
http://www4.atwiki.jp/kof13consumer/ (http://www4.atwiki.jp/kof13consumer/)

Note: Unfortunately no Frame Data there afaik

I just realized if you download their excel sheet, several more characters are completed that aren't listed yet (like Chin ^.^).

Where do you see excel files for frame data?  So far I've only found damage/stun spread sheets.

Not all the characters have their frame data filled in, but if you scroll down you'll see several characters that haven't been mentioned so far:

I know this has nothing to do with frame data, but I saw someone posted a pretty good image of Dou Lon's jump arcs:

I hope this guy makes more! Anyone like or not?

Hmm, well it looks about right according using the 1 hit-jump function in training mode when I compare it to his equally -6 frame on guard far C, and his lesser frame disadvantage move, f+B which is -4 frames on guard. But I'm not a frame guru, I'm just going off sight.

is there any frame data for characters up that has not yet been translated? could someone possibly link me to them if they are actually there? specifically for Mature, Leona, EX Iori, EX Kyo, Ash or Kensou? been hoping to see EX Iori's frame data especially for awhile as I'm 99% sure that even a few of his normals have different advantages than Claw Iori.

thanks a lot, desmond! EX kyo's frame data is a lot more extreme than I expected. did they really need to make st.a +2? it already hits crouchers.. cr.b being +2 seems a little much too but I won't complain. finally getting the startup for EX iori's A version rekka is a huge deal. now I know why the Korean and Singaporean players liked to use it as a midrange poke. it's as fast ein trigger with more range! A dp is kinda slower to startup than I expected at 6f, thought it'd be more like 4f like his EX dp. And 3f startup for EX ya otome is insane!

can't stress enough how grateful I am. keykakko/kantoku is god.

Need to let the US players and commentators know about it, just to see if they'll go nuts every time she throws someone.

Maybe I'm crazy thinking Hellpockets or someone will be saying "Apple Juice!"

http://wiki.shoryuken.com/The_King_of_Fighters_XIII/Athena#Frame_Data (http://wiki.shoryuken.com/The_King_of_Fighters_XIII/Athena#Frame_Data)

We already had a more complete frame data for Athena that lists startup, active, recovery and advantage on hit frames for all her moves~

Also, there are quite a few mistakes in the frame data you just posted.
"Shining Crystal Bit 34(5)"  Shining Crystal Bit is a 3f DM. Not a 5f one.
Athena's regular throw isn't a hard knockdown. Just that no one is going to recovery roll it if they failed to throw break.
I also doubt that EX Reflector's reflect startup is faster than regular one, from all my tests, it wasn't the case, but I don't have a solid enough proof.
