Title: Breakers Revenge
Post by: jinxhand on May 03, 2011, 05:30:49 PM
You know you've played it or seen it before-- The crazy combos with strange damage scaling, a ninja who attacks with his hair and sounds like he's barfing in his intro, Condor and his ridiculous parry... Yep sounds like Breakers Revenge to me... What was your experience with this wonderful, yet underrated game??? Share those nuggets of info as well...

I was thinking about to making a thread on this game.

Tier List

Well here is a tier list that is usually agreed upon and is in order strongest to weakest.

Banned
Bai Hu

Top
Sho Kamui
Saizo
Tia Langray

Mid High
Condor Heads
Rila

Mid
Dao-Long

Low
Pielle Montario
Serge Maherl
Alsion III

Alsion III can still compete against Sho despite being on the bottom.

Juggle System
You can juggle in this game but only in one order a normal to a special then a super. There is no way to break this I am aware of.

Hitboxes
With the use of debug dipswitches you can view the hitboxes and setup a practice mode. But you have to activate the dipswitches on the neo geo boot up screen(white to black).

2-4 Hitboxes
2-5 Life bars and timer
2-6 Meter

it in motion

Breakers is awesome, if anyone wants to play on GGPO, hit me up. I main Rila, with a bit of Tia and Dao Long.

WOW. I thought people forgot about this game. Played it for the first time in a long time the other day and got run over by the nostalgia truck. Rila was always my homegirl. Once I get GGPO up and running I'm so gonna take you up on that offer, Running Wild!

I've heard this described as a good version of SF4, and that's pretty accurate. It's just as simple to pick up and play but infinitely better in just about every way. The music does suck though. I'll have to play this sometime. As someone who usually mains grapplers I really dig Condor.

I think of it more like a SFA or Darkstalkers style game with the chain combos.

Music is kinda bland, but I do like Dao Long's theme.

I like Saizo's intro where he comes out of the fire. He sounds like he's barfing... :)

I'm thinking about seeing if I can run GGPO and get some matches in after work...

Another self quote from srk. I should post on here first then copy and paste to srk.

Ok, I went with out internet for a week and I made a few cheats.

FBA
Code: [Select]
cheat "Practice Mode"
default 0
0 "Disabled"
1 "Enabled", 0, 0x10007D, 0x28

Unoffical FBA Shuffle
Code: [Select]
<cheat desc="Practice Mode" default="0">

            <parameter cpu="0" address="0x10007D" value="0x28"/>

    </cheat>

Mame
Practice Mode
Code: [Select]
<cheat desc="Practice Mode"> <comment>To have hitboxes visible enable before a match</comment>

  </cheat>

Player 1 Color Select
Code: [Select]
<cheat desc="Select Color PL1">
    <parameter>

A

B

C

D

Cpu Only

    </parameter>

  </cheat>

Player 2 Color Select
Code: [Select]
<cheat desc="Select Color PL2">
    <parameter>

A

B

C

D

Cpu Only

    </parameter>

  </cheat>

About the practice mode cheat to have hitboxes visible you need to have the cheat on before a match, but it will not give you the correct damage scaling. To get correct damage scaling you need to activate during a match, but you will not get hitboxes. Also, do not activate practice mode cheat during the Neo Geo start up as it will instantly lock up the game.

Well i'm pretty sure by now people at least know how to do the save state workaround.
Now you have access to this game's training(damage scaling isn't correct) with hitboxes visible on ggpo.

What makes Maherl stronger than Alsion III??? I'm not really a fan of Maherl's genie super, and I felt Alsion had better setups than Maherl...

My perspective on the Matter which can be apply to the whole bottom/low tier is that they need to consistently have meter advantage. While Maherl and Alsion both low tiers, Maherl can build meter better than Alsion ( not to mention more supers) Bit as Jedpossum stated, he can compete and his option are solid, but just leave little room for error.(thus is why i Turtle with him more often)

I'll love to see other Alsion Player besides myself. (I main Peille, Sub Alsion)
