Offline Matchmaking / Re: Chicago Area/ midwest Scene

I am very, very unhappy with my performance. I was straight up not getting qcf to the right with my stick. I hope it was just me being really off and not my stick malfunctioning. Oh well. See you guys in a bit. Must practice for ignite...

Also, when I get completely moved, I'd like to start doing gatherings if people would be down. Maybe Saturdays?

Tbh I was thinking about finally going this year. I have to start saving now though...

This is truth. I get it most of the time now.

Now we need to find ways to corner carry without knockdown. Overhead to ex air fireball looped works, but you have to dash before you repeat. I know it combos i just haven't put enough practice into it.

Yup. Got my ps3 in tow at work.

The c mayhem into St.a is just a tough link, you can do it any where. It is something I plan to steal for punish combos, because it's a pretty good way to add damage without drive.

I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe I need a little more time and double maybe should stick with what I know for ff, but she is just not clicking with me as much as when I started. I feel like i have to play vice instead of how I want to play vice, if that makes sense.

GGs indeed.

The more I play the more I don't like Vice. I need a new anchor because I'm pretty set on the rest of my team. Not sure where to go, but this monday I'll have a new team lined up.

skillz! more people is more fun. A friend of mine who isn't active on the forums at all might be coming by ignite on monday. Decent player and a good dude. Hopefully we can get it crackin.

About your team, I really don't like yuri first. She builds meter decently enough but her with meter is scary because she can corner carry from almost past mid-stage. Then again, her mixup is scary enough that if you work on resets then it might not be a big deal.

So.

KOF XIII will be a main game at this upcoming Frosty Faustings. If you are in the Midwest you should not miss this, as it is one of Chicago's biggest tournaments. Not to mention the Venue, Nickel City is a great arcade. Double not to mention, Skullgirls will be there to see as well.

Anyway, let's get a good show here. Some MI players will be coming out for sure, and we still have plenty of the silent surrounding area.
Here is the copypasta from the SRK thread:

When: Saturday, January 7th, 2012.

Where: Nickel City
555 Waukegan Road
Northbrook, IL 60062

Closest Airport: Ohare Airport (ORD)

Start time: TBA (will post soon)

Though Nickel City is an arcade, all games will be played on console

Fees: There will be a $10 venue fee.

Please help out by bringing any TVs or consoles that would help things run smoother and allow for more casuals and tournaments to run faster. Anyone who brings a setup that we use in the tournaments will get 5 dollars off the Venue fee.

Parking: Plenty of parking at Nickel City

Hotels: Red Roof Inn Chicago - Northbrook/Deerfield
340 South Waukegan Rd
Deerfield, IL 60015
847-205-1755
http://www.redroof.com/reservations/property-detail.aspx?pid=00188

Cheap rooms and right accross the street from Nickel City.

Stream
We will officially have a live stream! It will be run by Daniel Medina (Medina4life).

Please help out by bringing any TVs or consoles that would help things run smoother and allow for more casuals and tournaments to run faster.

About me and Frosty Faustings: I used to live in Chicago and am one of the most well known Guilty Gear players from the US. I have been living in Japan for almost 4 and a half years. Every year, I visit Chicago and run Frosty Faustings to help out the scene and get some games in with everyone. Please come support this event!

King Of Fighters XIII (PS3)
$10 entry fee (with TBD payout)
3v3
60 sec round timer, 2/3 matches. Grand finals 3/5.
All stages, dlc/unlockable characters (so far) are allowed. Loser can change team and order, winner can change order.
Soft ban on Purgatory stage. Either restart the match if either player doesn't want to play on it, or never do random stage select.

Hope to see you there!

Combos for one drive, one meter. Whattya got?

;c;df ;a xx  ;c Hammer,  ;a Gatling [dc] EX Hammer,  ;c Hammer,  ;c Gattling.

I've taken to this combo because it's almost meter positive, ending up with ~75% for a little more damage than just canceling into a super after the  ;a Gatling, iirc (I'm at work trying to remember the testing I did earlier).

Hey KOF players.

There is a good number of people getting into the game. If we simply show up and play a real scene could flourish out of our numbers. Ignite is going to be getting good numbers in the coming weeks i feel. This Monday we'll have anywhere from 6-10 people playing the game, which is pretty nice for a brand new game, as well as a brand new franchise to some people *raises hand.* Not to mention ignite is a pretty cool place. They play good tunes, have a mini coffee shop, and the staff is really friendly.

Although the scene has been dominated by Capcom games, XIII is a good enough game on it's own that people will come out for it. I think making a good impression at the local gatherings will only prove that to the people on the fence.

So come one come all. Let's meet and play and be merry.
