Even if the game is delayed (and until Atlus says so, I don't believe that rumor for one second, simply because it could've been started by someone who doesn't want the game to do well.) then they might as well wait till January to release it for these interconnecting reasons.

1) November is where every non-high profile game will be sent to die. The month is far too loaded for a title like KoF XIII to get the attention it deserves.

2) Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is getting released on November 15th, which means that any fighting game released within 4 - 6 weeks of its release (And just to get this out of the way... Yes I do believe SNKP/Atlus are pushing it with an October 25th Release) that's not named Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat  will almost certainly get ignored by potential American (and possibly Western) Consumers at large. KoF XIII might have legs, but it needs to be released where the attention of the consumers is at a maximum and the competition is at a minimum

3) If its not released in October, January 2012 is the "ideal" spot where this game can do well. November is not going to work and December is usually an extension of what sells in November. There has been precedents where January games do relatively well simply because there are dollars to be spent due to a dearth of releases at this time. Also, SF X Tekken is more than likely a Fiscal 4th Quarter release, which means that it'll be till April before SNKP and Atlus will have another month where they can command as much of the spotlight as possible.

Also, (and this reason is independent of the others) as has been said before, SNKP and Atlus need to make sure that this product is as solid as possible. They've already done an EXCELLENT job with the added Story, Challenge and Tutorial modes, but being a niche product they need to make sure that the "hater fuel" is at an absolute minimum. Which means that the netcode needs to be solid and the loading is at the bare minimum. Those things are far more important than Spectator Mode and must be at their very best.

Finally, it would be nice to rethink their current DLC characters. I rather wait another 6 - 8 months for unique DLC characters than have EX Characters as DLC. And if the current 4 have to be DLC, make sure they're fairly priced (and I'd say fairly priced would be 240 MS Points/$2.99.) and give some us unique ones down the road.

That's my 22 cents on the probable situation.

This question is coming from a somewhat ignorant perspective about KoFXIII's balance, so please bear with me?

What would be easier overall? Nerfing, Buffing, or is the best option a combination of both? Because if it is the latter, then maybe the conversation shouldn't be concentrated on just depowering the top tiers, but on how to powering up everyone who needs it?

Of course, I'm also not naive enough to believe that optimal (not perfect) balance is easy, but I think striving towards it would be a worthwhile experiment. Even if the game needs multiple patches.

Just my 22 cents. If I'm thinking about this in the wrong way, it'll be a great eye-opener to know why.

Here in NY, CTF has yet to get it and quite frankly, I feel as if that place the last few years pretty much disregard anything that is not Capcom related when it comes to fighters. Which is a shame since a lot of players here are dying to play the game.

Do people ask constantly when CTF is going to get it?  Like ask the people who run it?  That would be pretty huge if we can find a way for east coast players to have access to the game.

I know for a fact that I've asked about 12 times in the past. They told me stop calling them, they have no idea when they're getting the game.

I ended up getting 6 Games in, myself. Here were my findings.

Matches 1 -3 1 - 3: 82 - 103ms with flawless games from where I sat.

Matches 4: ~95ms this game was where I think I experienced rollback on my end (twice), that was quickly dealt with. The match was still more than playable, but there was a snag in the proceedings.

Matches 5 - 6 ~85ms sharing the same "flawless" movement that I got from games 1 - 3

This isn't a perfect sample by no means, but the Netcode seems like it runs on a much better level than 98UM, but won't replace Face to Face play. (This is by no means a bad thing, due to the Community that Fighting Games have in general) The Game isn't over in this regard, but SNKP may have another "Online" winner on their hands.

Too bad it seems like the game isn't marketed as well as it should be.

Well, the online is finally up for this baby. I guess I'll see you all there. Hopefully I can learn something, because I'm not any stretch of good, at all.

Tis the link for 2002UM on XBL English Marketplace.

Enjoy:) I get kicked off live when I try to play, but other than that, it's working perfectly fine. So no netcode impressions yet...

I came to this board a bit earlier to post this, myself, but you beat me to it.

Good News: It counts towards the 2400 Point/800 Point Rebate
Bad News: Netcode probably won't be up till the Official Release Date, next Wednesday.

I hope that they don't delay the console port in order to satisfy those greedy fans that want 6 console characters, stages, specific voice actors and shit like that. They should use that money and effort to support the current game and promote it properly. Current roster size is really satisfying and stages as well. Just create a nice online code and add many online elements like for example 3 real ppl vs 3 real ppl. I mean invite your friends and create a group of three and each one playing one character and things like that.

Yeah, even though I would LOVE to see this stuff, I don't need to have it. A meaty port to me would mean these things.

- Netcode that works
- A Training mode that helps you to practice specific scenarios
- A BlazBlue CS type Tutorial Mode so people can learn the game
- A Challenge mode that is rewarding to play.
- The ability to record your matches so you can understand your trends in battle.
- A Tournament and even a RanBat Mode. (The former is probably more possible than the latter.)
- A 3 People Vs. 3 People Team mode like you said

I would personally love an expanded story mode, as well, but I don't need it. Just like the rest of the stuff you mentioned at first.

Quote from: Kane317Perhaps the release date of XIII also factors in international competition, meaning it still might be smart to release it in '11 Q1 for whatever reason it was intended (Arcade owners can see profit etc) because, internationally, MK9 means squat and for all intents and purpose, neither does MvC3 since it's only popular in the US.]

This a very good point, to be honest. I'm just thinking with the mindset that with the Western Market's size, it would be a great idea to gear a release to get the most people buying the game as possible to build the community. At the same time, SNK does have to worry about feeding those mouths.

It seems like we may have some good news coming to us in a couple of days. I just hope they take the two 80 ton Elephants in the room (Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Mortal Kombat 9) into account when announcing their release date. KoF XIII needs as much time in the center spotlight as it can get, and a well-timed release date is the first step.

I'll assume that they understand the need for a meaty port, especially an excellent training mode. I would love it if they came as close to Virtua Fighter IV Evolution as much as possible.

I am going to check on Chinatown Fair, today. I live in New York City, so if there's any news, I'll report it back here.
