Haha just saying that I'm still learning myself, so it's hard to teach anyone else.

Just kidding.  ;)

When I get back home, I really do want to show everyone how fun these games can be.  I'm just stumped trying to figure out how to help build their motivation to practice and improve themselves.

I'm 28.  My first fighter was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:  Tournament Fighters.  My cousin came down from NY (I'm from SC, originally) and beat me down on it, saying that it was like Street Fighter.  He later took me down to arcade at the corner store and sat me down at SFII and Samurai Shodown, and I've been with fighters ever since.

Most of my family and friends that play fighters (pre '09-ers) range from the mid-20s to mid 30s.   I have some little cousins that have started up with the anime fighters in the last couple of years, but they seem to be intimidated by the amount of practice and effort required by real fighters to give them a honest shot, and would rather play FPSs and Skyrim instead..... :(

Been pretty much keeping up with the manga weeklies as of late...  I'll probably dig up some of these classic shows when I get a bit more free time.  Haven't been interested in any of the newer shows for some reason... *shrugs*

Pro-Gear / Re: Fight Sticks?

Here are my 3 arcade sticks:

A Sega Saturn Virtua Stick HSS-0136 (old faithful), a EightArc Fusion (Tournament Stick), and a custom homemade stick based off a MC Cthuhlu chip + RJ-45 Ethernet setup (basically covers everything except the Xbox 360).

The EightArc and custom sticks both have octagonal gates and Link Quick-Releases (makes 'em way more back pack friendly), and I just did the Sanwa JLF "Ultimate Mod" on them.  I like the quicker reactions and shorter throw, but I'm still getting used to the increased effort that they require now.

Meet & Greet / Greetings From Japan!!!
November 28, 2011, 03:39:03 PM
Hello guys!

The name's MJ and I'm currently stationed in Tokyo, Japan.  I've dabbled a bit with KoF over the years ('95, '98, CvS2, SvC, MI and MI2) but XIII will be the first time I'll be seriously attempting to get into the series.  I wandered onto a XIII machine last summer in Akihabara, and I was blown away.  I couldn't really describe it, but it felt like it had something special to it that I haven't seen in fighters for a long time.  And I have been waiting for the console release ever since.
My PSN IDs are Ion317 and Ion_317 (Japanese, tends to be better for online fighting), but since I'm new, I'll probably just be in the lab for the next couple of months trying to get things down before I go online.  But in the meantime, I'll be lurking around trying to pick up info.  Nice to meet you all!
