heh if I would've known about this earlier I would've been down too. At least for once a month kinda deal because its a bit over an hour trip from here in the IE. Chasiubao I would be down for that man, even though we used to have AI down here I can't believe its so hard to find competition around this area. I would be down for some weekend ranbats for KOF. Although my schedule is tight  :(

On another note... Ralf should generally NEVER Drive Cancel besides 2 occasions...

- If he caught someone with a raw b~f+A or b~f+C...

- If he wants to DC from b~f+C into EX Galactica Phantom *charge lvl 2*

Every one of his combos are better off finishing either meter less or with Bareback Vulcan... You NEVER want to do an uncharged EX Galactica Phantom in a combo... Because Bareback Vulcan will give you the SAME damage with 1 less meter... Ralf has such easy ass hit confirms that if he were to spend drive meter he should just rather do an HD combo...

I completely agree with you, although hitting with a raw b~f C is kinda rare, only done for far punishes, I wouldn't drive cancel that unless you got the opponent in the corner. He builds meter strongly, so I find his most effective position being battery. I like doing his HD combos though since they are so easy once you get the timing down and so flashy to boot

sucks been trying this trying to get this weekend off to go, but no one will switch my hours  :( . Oh well, I will be their the whole Saturday afternoon after 1pm though to play casuals. There should be a good amount of stations to play casuals right? I'm betting a lot of people will be interested in playing besides the tournament.

Yeah I thought this was the case after playing against a local Terry. Anyways not that big of a deal compared to MvC3. It will make you salty if get a accidental grab punish instead of a close  ;c;d punish though. I'm so used to punishing bad rolls with grabs from cvs2 though  :( Something I need to relearn

The straight up jump  ;d is really good. I think its the only move that has like no start up frames. You can instant overhead with it the only problem is that it has very small horizontal reach, so its use is limited outside of the corner or of a very good read. I don't know if there are any hard knockdowns in this game where your opponent isn't able to choose okizeme options, so if there is please let me know.

You can instant overhead (  ;up ;d )> hitconfirm into V-Slasher which is a really strong tool because of the damage and inability to react to it. The only thing is that its pretty hard to perform, the commands need to be exact
;dn ;df ;fd ;up ;d ;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk ;c

Their is leniency though, you can actually press  ;uf  ;up before leaving the ground and you will still jump straight up as long as you did it fast enough

Yes!! This would definitely be something i would be looking forward to. Dandy J's comprehensive KoF tutorial was very good. Making one for XIII's gameplay mechanics is a really good idea. I don't really understand certain gameplay mechanics for XIII. I think a video tutorial is a way better tool. Speaking for myself I'm a very visual person and sometimes need some visual examples to understand certain aspects of whats going on. I'm sure others feel the same way as well.

Yeah I feel exactly the same way, especially when it comes to HD cancels and the HD mode. I thought you could cancel anything into anything a la cvs2 A-groove. After finally getting some more game time I realize I was wrong, I'm guessing some moves cancel into other specific ones during specific times?

You can link cr.a from his qcf.D ? That is pretty awesome and would help in good hitconfirm combos.

Haha and no I am not one of those crazy guy at all, but that seems like something to strive for I guess.

I just really hope these combos aren't too much of a pain to do.
It's hard to get the timing, but after roughly 30min of training i can do it consistently, the key is to do  ;c ;fd ;b incredibly fast (the commande move  ;fd ;b is buffed when the  ;c animation is still on the screen) to charge  ;db as soon as possible and at the very end of the animation of the  ;fd ;b cancel it by a  ;fd ;d

So if you will learn it do  ;c ;fd ;b and try some charges timing from short to the longest (i release  ;fd ;d nearly when the  ;fd ;b hits).

Yeah that last part really helped me out, I can do it at about 50% now after about 20minutes of training mode. I would've loved to get it 10/10, but I had to leave the arcade early. Considering my execution is below average, I feel that most of you guys can do it consistently after some practice.

Its something that really helps Takuma in terms of combos. Doing similar damage without the  ;fd ;b;db ;fd ;d will result in you having to waste an HD bar. My concern though is how good this is when it comes to hitconfirms. You have to buffer the command normal while your doing  ;c. Is this a good hitconfirm combo to do when your poking? Or is it more of a sure-hit type of combo?

Has anyone been able to translate what the button functions do in the Color Edit Screenshot?

No need to translate! They released English screenshots of all console release shots so far. It just seems... hard to find them sometimes!

Such as here: http://www.gaming-age.com/cgi-bin/img.pl?image=/previews/ps3/kofxiii/&img=22&imgnum=29&sys=ps3&game=kofxiii&title=The%20King%20of%20Fighters%20XIII

Thanks for the Link SAB-CA! That clears up alot! I appreciate it! Maybe the Customizations are the individual areas you can color, like Chipymax's screen cap of K'. Each area of color in that picture may be a different customization. We will see how it turns out. I know I spent a lot of time messing around with XI and 98UM's Editor. I hope I can do the same here, or there is a Pink Ash out fit with Pink Flames. I totally want to annoy people on the net with that one. ;)

It always bothered me when my friends would make an all white or all yellow color in XI and sometimes I would have to change the color and lighting on my TV in between matches lol, sooo annoying especially since a lot of the XI stages were colorful as hell. :P

Well haven't been here since before AI closed down. I remember saying that I was gonna get into this game and I still do, but a lot of shit came down all at once.  I've been wanting to hit the training room for a while now and I finally got to the chance to. Was wondering where the AI guys are going now?

General Discussion / Re: Cabinet locations
December 13, 2010, 10:15:42 AM
personally I hate driving, and to drive that hour and not find anything in the end would probably ruin my week for me. Although driving an hour and finding a XIII cabinet would brighten my life till console release ^o^

Thankfully I only live 30 minutes from one

Wanted to discuss Duo's BnB

AFIK its
cr ;a -  cr ;a - Suteki Juryu (Rekka x3) - dash (forgot which one it is) -  ;a (the last  ;a resets)

You can see this player use it constantly in this video, and when I picked him up it seems to be his only real combo. I could be mistaken though because I haven't gone to the lab with him yet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjNQs-5SMHA

You can see how the dash cancel at the end sets Duo for more pressure, resets, and mix ups and can also be used as an end to a blockstring . I really want to know if he has any cross-ups or solid overheads before I go down to AI again ^0^

Meet & Greet / Re: Finally
November 29, 2010, 12:51:25 PM
After playing some KoF13 I realized how little I knew about the mechanics. Like how to activate HD and stuff, so I went to Shoryuken but their info is limited. Every other post their told me to go here lol.

Hope I can meet you and some of the other vets one day :P
Do you guys have a certain schedule or do most of you randomly visit from time to time?
