Ash Crimson / Re: Ash Crimson (Console)
« on: December 16, 2011, 12:06:55 PM »
cr.B, st.C, st.D, and cr.D are all pretty useful as poking tools. st.C is probably the least useful due to how slow it is, but it's still better than some similar moves of other characters because it hits many crouching characters and is cancelable. st.D is nice for its lower body invincibility and faster startup than b+B. cr.D has pretty good range and startup and is also cancelable, so it's a good sweep overall. Remember that cancelable normals can cancel into command normals (b+B, b+D) or specials (qcb+X, b~f+P) even on whiff, so as long as you make use of this, you don't have to worry too much about being whiff-punished, especially with the extremely fast b+D available.

EX Akegarasu does go through projectiles and hasn't been changed in the console version. I've used it in matches and it works fine.

General Discussion / SRK KOF XIII Hyper Guide Wiki
« on: December 13, 2011, 12:40:06 AM »
The KOF XIII Hyper Guide is ultimately designed to be an emporium of relevant and detailed knowledge about all aspects of the latest version of KOF XIII. Each page will represent the most current level of knowledge on a subject and will be updated to accommodate or revise new findings. New KOF players should start learning the game by absorbing all the information and videos present in the wiki and then look into the game’s mechanics and characters. Look into everything!

This post is mainly a heads up for the Dream Cancel community that the SRK Hyper Guide exists and is being actively worked on. It may be a valuable resource for those in need of information about the game.

If you would like to contact us, feel free to post in this thread or the thread on SRK, or PM me (Dr. Grammar on SRK). You can also find most of us on IRC on #SNKPlaymore @ EFnet (irc.efnet.net). Please let us know if anything is incorrect or if anything should be added.

For anyone having trouble with executing dp+P or DC'ing it without accidentally getting a DM, try inputting the DP as 63256P to get around the input overlap.

5
It has to be inputted either as 6246 or 6249 ( ;fd ;dn ;bk ;fd or ;fd ;dn ;bk ;uf), so the only "shortcut" you can really do is skip the diagonals, which is generally only useful on keyboard controls or similar.

6
It was like this in previous KOF games as well, so it's nothing new. I think the reason for it is to keep things from being punishable by any character if they're only at -1 frame disadvantage or so. Throws are usually a bad punish option anyway, so it's really not a big deal.

General Discussion / Re: Questions for Atlus
« on: June 10, 2011, 04:29:40 PM »
They had it in versus mode, but not training mode. It was really weird.

Command List is the 3rd option down on the second screen of the practice menu. Right up under "Attack Data Display", above "Button Config".

...and I still like this Temple Stage's music. XD (Excuse to boot up XII, GET, lol)
Okay, if you say so. I'll edit my post.

I don't know how much control Atlus has over these things, but this is what a good console release of a fighting game should have, from most to least important:

  • Good netcode: We keep getting fighting games that don't deliver on this aspect, regardless of any claims made by the companies prior to release. GGPO would be fantastic (and the community would certainly take notice), but if it's even as good as the NGBC netcode, that would be good enough.
  • Replay saving: KOF XII had this, so there's no reason for it not to be in XIII. Allow us to save replays of our matches online and offline. Some extra features like slowmo, rewind, and input display would be good.
  • Training mode
    • Restart shortcut, similar to MvC3, where you can hold left or right to go to the corners
    • Online match searching, like BBCS
    • Frame-by-frame programming, like SNKP's previous releases
    • Easy-to-use record/playback, like MvC3
    • Meter and lifebar refill should wait until shortly after a combo is finished
  • Button Config: Make it available on the character select screen if possible, or at least during a match. Allow people to set their buttons just by pressing each corresponding button. See BBCS or SFIII3SOE for reference.
  • Rematch option: This is especially important for a game like KOF because of how long it can take to select characters. It should be possible to rematch both during a match and at the end of each match. Going back to the order select screen is fine.
  • Mission/Trial Mode: This is not a necessity, but KOF XIII will bring a lot of new players, and features like this help a lot for them to get into the game. See BBCS for reference.

Why haven't the trolls been banned yet? This is getting out of hand.

Don't worry this is a as far as it goes. I'm OK with a little trash talk but lets not cross that line guys.

That's it? These scrubs are constantly spamming nonsense (one can't even write a coherent sentence) and saying we should "support SNK" by playing shit like KOF 94 and XII, with not even a word being said about NGBC, 2002UM, or 98UM. Now someone started openly flaming in this thread, and you pass it off as "a little trash talk". I keep seeing you talk about how Dream Cancel is "a real KOF forum" and how you have zero tolerance for shit talk, but from what I can see, you don't even care. You have worthless scrubs running rampant here, and you're not doing anything about it.

Training Room / Re: New to KoF...
« on: September 16, 2010, 07:10:08 PM »
Don't play XII. The game is slower than other KOF games, and many mechanics were changed. For now, I would suggest playing KOF 2002 on GGPO, assuming your stick is compatible with PC.

King of Fighters 98/UM/FE / Re: Quick question about XBL

Hardly anyone still plays. You might be better off just waiting for 2002UM.

I played 98UM online a bit. From what I played, the lag wasn't as bad as SSF4, but hardly anyone still plays.
