well after much "trying" online... i've discovered the new form of "cheating." ...at least on the 360 version, but i imagine it might work on the ps3 as well... what people are doing is putting their headsets next to the television sets to make as much noise as possible through them. it causes the person recieving the noise to have extra lag and drop inputs altogether. i even had one guy turbo-ing his headset on and off to make as much static as possible. because i play without my headset they fight fine while i almost just stand there the whole match. it's pretty horrific. they REALLY need to disable headsets altogether considering the netcode sucks as is...

i had a similar instance... i couldn't even jump and entire inputs of mine were dropped completely. (press punch nothing happened) yet this one guy was dcing me left and right! almost finished me off with a massive hd cancel combo! talk about frustration! but only against one person... no other match i've had has been similar.

anybody know for sure the requirements to battle ash? unlocked saiki and billy a long while ago, but no matter how many "target actions" i do, even without continuing, i can't get ash to challenge me.

me dos! it was REALLY requested for xiii, but i guess they had to focus on the basics first. everyone i told the mode might be in was really psyched to have it. maybe xiv...

my play habit is to typically burn meter as i build it. i unfortunately don't have the time nor patience to learn the super high hitting combos. i like to get in, get out, dealing as much as possible in shorter combos. if i eat a loss in the first character my second is usually one i have played semi-regularly but not as much as number three so i try to at least bank on 1 & half characters beat by the time they eat it. then my third is my main so hopefully they can take down the rest.

okay, obviously kof-i is no kin for xiii proper, but it's all i got cause no arcades and no emulation make paraparapony a dull boy... but so far my only real menace is Goro. the cpu plays him pretty cheap which is fine for what it is, but dear monkey gods! he can command grab the hell outta me in the middle of all kinds of moves with almost any character! is this a thing consistant with the arcade? mai being the most abvious example, he can command grab her out of all kinds of points in her deadly ninja bees, liz's dp startup,... is that a thing? are people in the arcade able to command grab like that or is that just the cpu being cpu-ish? i understand getting punished, but it's grabbing in the middle of hit strings that i would think only guard cancels would get out of.

eh... honestly i just think atlus needs to advertise more. all my fighting game buds know about XIII and are a little hyped for it but had no idea it was coming out soon at all, so i think word of mouth is doing pretty well.

i'm truthfully of the opinion that your knowledge and reflexes are what defines skill. i don't think people would play any fighting game if they didn't believe they could take their favorite or most practiced characters into battle and win. i think some characters just have a shorter learning curve or better tools. for example, i have my own way i'd play against k' or raiden and sometimes when i watch matches i'm like "that's not how i'd use 'character.'" and i love watching the "low tier" characters kick the poo out of upper management. ^-^

netcode affecting the purchase, not at all. netcode affecting the longevity of the game for me... absolutely...

what sucks is, i'm still interested in KOF2k2UM and other snk titles, but with crummy net, i rarely get to truly enjoy them... you can only suffer the AI or the lag for so long... i also kinda hope they throw the ability to play against the AI while you wait to find a match from XII in there... that was a nice way to wait for a fight...

i would personally love to have her hisho ryu en jin (the ryu en bu backflip)! that'd be fun! and when picking teams... does anyone else feel a little guilty if they don't pick their favorite character? in one on one's it's less prevalent, but in mvc and kof i always feel a little bad if my no 1 isn't in my three...
