I played Mai, Kula, Maxima, Clark, Mui Mui, Bandeiras, Hein, King of Dino and Sylvie at CEO.

I've played Kyo, Iori, Mai, Shun'ei and King of Dino on the home demo.

So far, I'd say I've put in about 10 hours, about 2 in PvP at CEO where I literally knew nothing about the title exclusive mechanics, and about 8 on the home demo purely in training mode.

I know a lot of people hate the way it looks and I certainly feel it's far from perfect or even acceptable for a physical PS4 release, but it's the least important aspect of a game to me. I do feel that the way characters animate is really jarring though.

The game feel is the biggest issue for me, movement feels really disconnected, it's hard to explain but it just doesn't feel nearly as responsive as past KOFs. Walks feel slower than before and jumps feel off - I feels like you hang in the air a bit just before you come down, at least I think that's what is going on.

I think execution is going to be extremely important going forward. Just in the past 24 hours, we've gotten some incredible combos coming out all over the place on social media. Unlike 2002 or XIII, many of these combos are based on linking moves together rather than cancelling - you can't cancel specials into specials anymore, everything is going to require extremely precise timing. This need for very precise links and extreme muscle memory just to be considered competent at a competitive level are exactly the reasons I stopped playing most other popular fighting games out now and from the previous generation. XIII was pretty much the only game I played for about 3 years as a result outside of older games like Third Strike and Vampire Savior.

None of them. I really enjoyed '98 vanilla, '00, '02UM, XI and XIII, but this doesn't really feel like any of them. I'd say it feels like Street Fighter IV with a slight speed boost. I understand that the MAX mode is clearly trying ape KOF'98, but in terms of 'feel' it just doesn't feel anything like that.

I don't know if I'm even going to pick up the game now. I'll definitely not pick it up on release and instead wait until I hear definitive word about the netcode at least, but even then I dunno.[/spoiler]

I started out with Clark/Kensou/Iori, which was my team from KOFXII.

I've tried out several other characters, trying to get away from them because of the flaws I saw in them. Tried picking up clearly superior characters like EX Iori, Kim, Hwa Jai, Mr. Karate, Benimaru and some others, but just couldn't stick with them. They just weren't fun to me. Tried picking up some others like Mai, Raiden, Andy, Yuri, Saiki and some others and while I still use them every now and then, I just don't use them that much.

My current team in Kula/Clark/Kensou. I feel like this is ideal for me, even with all their flaws. While I enjoyed murdering people with Iori in the back, he felt too "all or nothing", it always felt hard to get that solid hit in, and with Kensou preceding him it felt like either Kensou was going to be gimped by not using meter to save for Iori, or Iori was going to be gimped because Kensou used up all the meter. Meanwhile, I find with Kula that I can very easily get full meter and I just find that there's not much reason to use meter with her. Same with Clark, although Clark has some easy HD combos that make it worth not keeping him on point like I used to.

I would personally say there is a distinct advantage to being able to keep a finger on each action button at all times, which you can do on arcade stick but I can't figure out a comfortable way to do with a pad.

Then again, I find that pad is better for movement (as long as the d-pad itself is good, which I don't see much of these days).

Personally I only use pad for Marvel (which I don't even play anymore), everything else I use stick with. That said, I know many great players who use pad and still place very high in majors even in KOF, so don't let it hold you back. Just... experiment if you can.

New patch, uses less resources, and I've noticed smoother matches thus far.

Really hope they bring it back to v6 netcode, because v7 and v8 have been unplayably bad. I played some 3 bar matches just now that were worse than 3 bar matches I've had in KOFXIII on PS3.

I seriously can't believe they screwed the netcode up this bad when it was near perfect on patch 6. I hear you apparently get one chance for a refund on steam, and this just might be it if it doesn't get fixed. 3 days left and it's getting worse, not better.

EDIT: I played with a friend from California again (other side of the country for me) and it runs smooth as butter for us.

He's even on a DSL connection, so it's not like our net is ideal. However, we both have modern rigs made to run the latest games. Rigs at least higher than the minimum requirements in all areas, some areas much higher.

As such, I really hope they have a rig rating next to the connection rating in online matches a la SF4/SFxT.

I take back what I said before. I didn't know you had to play the game windowed to not have input delay. Now that I have it in windowed, it's playable.

Really hope they fix that, as I'm not exactly a fan of playing games windowed, but at least it's not the netcode at fault.

Played against about three 3-bar connections today.

That input delay is really good. And by really good, I mean you can really feel it. Still unplayable. Better than console, but anything is better than console. I now really regret preordering it.

Technically, Disney owns Magneto now. They own Marvel, Lucasarts and even Jim Henson's works are owned by Disney.

It won't be long before we see a Smash knock-off that lets you have Mickey Mouse, Wolverine, Darth Vader and Kermit The Frog duke it out simultaneously.

Perhaps I have hit rock bottom... Bakugan edits, and I don't even watch the show or play the games, there was just a copy of one of the games at work and I thought, huh, that looks like something I could do an edit of.

Always found that updating system for Live with SNK games weird. Anyway, for those that got to see it, how was NEC for attending players or streamers? I didn't get a chance to tune in for the singles on Sunday. Did something go wrong with the bifuteki stream? The results will be up once I get the team results too.
I was watching the stream.

It was good for a while, though there were LONG commercials that lasted as long as a set or longer. Then the stream started lagging to the point where it was just pointless to try to watch. Ugh. Fun while it lasted.
