Hey guys. I have a question about 98UM (that I guess carry over to 02UM as well).

It's about the buttons. If I for example do 2A and quickly go to neutral, I'll get a 5A. And when I use show inputs, it looks like I hit the A button while pressing down. And vice versa, if I do a 5A and quickly press 2, I get a 2A. Is there some sort system which does the normal depending on which direction I am holding on the second(?) frame or something, or is it some sort of buffer?

Sup, Grokbu.

Yeah, KOF uses a buffer system for its normal attacks. I know for KOF13 it's 4 frames for normals, not sure if it's the same for KOF98UMFE.

Ah, alright! Thanks a lot for the help! :)

I think there's no point in fixing the XIII online, it's pretty much dead on there from what I can tell, at least on the 360 front.  Do need the Climax changes though.
Now I'm not really knowledgeable enough about this to speak too much about it. But wouldn't it, technically, be possible for them to change some of the code for GSS to allow for lower delay?

If they have to use GSS, couldn't they change what's there in the netcode, whilst still making it usable with the game?

EDIT: Oh, I reread your post and realized that I misunderstood you.

Why exactly are you going to test the netcode when the general consensus says its bad
Well, there are a few who says they have great experiences with the netcode. And some who says that it sucks overall says that some connections can still be good. Doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks for everyone's input, it's really appreciated.

I hope I'll get this game soon, since all these different opinions about the netcode is starting to drive me insane.

I have a couple of guys here in Sweden that I usually have good matches with in GGPO/BB. I'll see how our matches turn out when we get the game.

Long combos aren't really the main problem for me with lag. It's reacting to stuff, and with all the hopping of KOF, lots of delay will suck big time (it always does though).

I hope that the amount of delay in our matches will be less than in MVC3 at least...

i think i will have to wait at least 1 extra week to get the game becasue i would do it like i did with XII.All these rumors about a laggy online are not cool news for me right now.A lot of people say the online is good on dreamcancel....can they show it in a 1 min video?

it should look something like this and both players should have a decent connexion..if possible cable

KOF XII online Test - 13/06/2011

I am interested in the experience people will have with XIII with a decent connexion. The rest should get better internet.

Yeah, I would love to see someone do a test like this.

You could use a 60fps video camera, and firstly play in training mode or whatever offline, and hit, say, a st.A. After that you do it online, and when you've captured video of both, you could edit the video so that you have a side-by-side comparison between the two, timed by a button press, so that you can see the difference.

Of course, this wouldn't be a perfect test, but it would work.

So, when people mention that your online matches are in SF4 quality. Do you mean vanilla or SSF4?
I'm not sure if there's any difference, but I do know that SSF4 plays very well against other Swedes, imo.

Oh man. Talk about being nervous... I seriously can't wait to try this out online, myself, as I can compare to what experiences I usually have with different people in other games.

And If pre-release impressions of the netcode are bad, there could, as mentioned, be a patch on/after the release day.

I absolutely appreciate the impressions though.

Those images feel like they're hinting for a dream match. :)

The best possible thing that we can expect, and I'm seeing it happen.
Ah! I kinda misunderstood your first post. But this sounds good.
Netplay impressions are sounding pretty good so far. :)

Anyone else order from shopto.net hoping they deliver early!
Yep! I'm gonna check my orders and e-mail multiple times a day. :)

From that submission from the french guy, when he says "all my combos came out!" it effectively means that this game has some type of delay hiding technique. Congrats SNKp...
Hrm. Would you say that this could be a bad thing if it's the case?

Ok something random, I was playing my 10th player match, and suddenly esaka 96 appeared

It's a cool stage, even has a night version where a crossdresser appears lol
Huh, that's pretty cool.

Was this during an online match?

And color edit, and arcade mode, and...  fuuuuuu  too many modes...  lol

No confirmation, of that yet. But here is the scenario I see, SNKP is using GSS as their netcode source, but they might had hired Damdai to supervise and make the netcode better, that is a possible scenario.
I actually believe that this is the case as well.

i remember hearing something like that aswell

They did say that, months ago.  I just always held out hope that maybe they'd switch it up or something but meh.
Ok. Good to hear I'm not the only one.

I don't think it necessarily has to be bad, since they can improve it lots. Maybe they simply used it as a starting ground.
