Looks like he got buffed pretty nicely in final edition. I've always liked playing him.

General Discussion / Re: The King of Fighters XIII Video Thread

To be fair Terry hasn't had much of a showing overall since those first match vids against the dev team. He's seen less and less in matches these days.

And in the new vid it looked like they kinda figured that Ralf out, he looked like he was playing more random though. His Maxima took over though and was damn solid, especially in that one round with that EX Air Vapor Canon barrage. Found it interesting how he seems to vary between offence and turtling with Maxima.

I think he was playing better people in the second batch of vids. In the first video he was honestly doing whatever he wanted with any character.

I feel like I've been seeing more Duo Lon and Ash play recently. Also I don't know if it was the players involved but the two of them seem to do fairly well against K'. I was just wondering what other people people thought.

I saw something pretty interesting that i hadn't seen prior to this, but does the stand jab reset after super only work in the corner?

Also I read that you have done some experimenting with Clark. I was wondering who you think has better tools Clark or Ralph. Sorry if this is the wrong section I wasn't sure which character forum to ask in.

Ralf has better pokes, although the frames looks the same they seemingly have different priorities and recovery.  The easiest example would be Clark can do s.D, df.A -->  whereas Ralf cannot because his s.D recovers too slow (or pushes back too far).  Ralf's far C and d.C is better than Clark's in my opinion, it feels like it has faster recovery although I can't be 100% certain.

Overall I think Ralf has better "tool" between his pokes, his air dive, his Ex qcf+P, qcb+P and his aerial normals although I just love Clark because I'm old school.

Thanks I've always liked Clark and Ralf and try to fit one if not both on my team. I wasn't sure who to use since I wasn't really sold on a SAB less Ralf, but after reading about ex qcf p and seeing his qcb p in some match vids I think he is a little bit more solid than Clark. Any og move you miss in particular for Clark?

Speaking of which. Is it just priority and damage that causes his ranking to fluctuate? I mean he plays the same in almost every game.

That's a pretty broad generalization friendo.

Lol, seriously.

To answer you question, it's a combination of everything.  K' has been known to have less options in this version but a combination of tweaks to his recovery plus the general system of XIII complements him well.

His special moves cancels well in HD, his Ex moves also work well with his cancel, his air.qcb+BCD shortcut helps activate into his HD juggles, his corner trap is strong and arguably one of the best (couple that with his low recovery on his specials), he charges up real quick (great first or last character), his qcb K.qcb K (Narrow Spike) setups for his juggles as well, great air normals and above average NeoMax all push him to the top tier category

Thanks for the detailed response. I had a general why he was top tier in XIII. I was wondering more about older titles specifically 2002/2002um.  Also I read that you have done some experimenting with Clark. I was wondering who you think has better tools Clark or Ralph. Well I know the recovery on trigger is very good  and how his jump D is ridiculous in his better appearances. Other characters sometimes go up due to system changes or new moves, but K' seems to always be based around trigger's recovery. Correct me if I'm wrong I was just curious.

Play whoever you want. If you like a character you shouldn't let others discourage you from using them whether they are high or low tier. Just play a character that fits your style of play.

Nah, like, I understand that they aren't hard to do, but if you think about it, how many combos are THAAAAT hard in the first place??  I think at the top level of play where execution is a given that K', Liz, and Kula are a-okay.  The point I was trying to make I guess was that only Raiden is actually OP.

It's because I just picked up K' in 2002UM and IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST PLAY but I hate it how it's considered cheap or dishonorable to pick him in XIII...

I like K' as well and have played with him since his first appearance.

Meet & Greet / Re: How did you hear about www.dreamcancel.com?

Pamphlets were on the XIII machine and I decided to check it out since I've always been a casual fan of the series and wanted to delve a little deeper and try to improve my skills.

Yeah I generally walk in there with 3 to 4 dollars so a loss really sets you back. I envy you guys and your 25 cent cab. At that price it really encourages rematches.

How come there's no noise from UFO About the KOF 13 cab?  Since you're near or go there appearing from your last post, can you give us some info on the goings ons over there?

Honestly I'm not sure how many people play it since I just started playing it recently. It took me a while to man up and be willing to pay a dollar a play. Outside of me and my friend there were 2 other people who were playing when I was there last Friday. I was only able to challenge one of them since I was out of money once the other guy showed up.

I'll be getting it on PS3 even if the netcode turns out poorly so I can practice execution at least. If the netcode turns out bad I can only hope UFO keeps its cab.

Offline Matchmaking / Arcade Ufo meet ups
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:42:14 AM »
I noticed there was no offline matchmaking thread for Arcade UFO. I'm not very good at the game so don't expect immediate competition from me. I was just hoping to stir up some interest in the game by playing on a weekly basis. Maybe seeing people play the game will give some other people the incentive to try it.   I'll try to keep track of this thread and its replies.  I'll most likely be swinging around after 8 or 9 on Friday or Saturday. If anyone wants to set up a specific day feel free to.

Meet & Greet / Greetings from Texas DC
« on: November 13, 2010, 10:51:39 AM »
Finally had a chance to play the game at Arcade UFO here in Austin and it was a blast.  I'm pretty new to KOF outside of some casuals with some friends on the PS2 version of 2002 that I bought to support the game and FG community back in the day.  Only complaint was that it was CvS 1 style buttons instead of the 4 straight across like an old Neo Geo machine. Hopefully I can play more in the future and improve my abilities.
