General Discussion / Question about button configuration in tourneys
« on: September 25, 2014, 06:12:53 PM »
I've been thinking about this lately, since I switched from joypad to a fightstick.
I know there was an era when binds were not allowed on tournaments in some countries, not even on joypads.
Comentators during EVO 2014 KOFXIII were mentioning that many KOFXIII players complained about how easy it is to miss an EX input. Yet, I see most people only use the default four buttons, not assigning binds despite having the risk to miss EX commands.
So, my question is, is assigning binds like LP+HP and LK+HK considered playing the easy way and is it even allowed on tourneys? Do people really think about that as playing the easy way?

Welcome! From your other posts, I can see you're in Europe too. Try getting the Steam version, most of the people migrated with their online fights there, and online on the console version is pretty bad anyway...

Need a little help with Terry trial 9. Is there an easier way (shortcut) to cancel his Rising Tackle (L) into his Neo Max?

What happened with Cafe id Verna? Who did he lose to at EVO 2014? Haven't seen any matches (pool, casual, mm) on YT...

General Discussion / Strongest non-edit team in the game?

What do you guys think, which non-edit team is the strongest in KOFXIII? I can't decide between Japan team or Kim team...

I see you're an Athena player, can you test this out for me if you haven't already done so?

Are you sure that he does the first f+B off the ground and not with a manual hyperhop?
I was trying with the "off the ground" variation for the first f+B, and with a manual hyper hop for the second, but when I get the second f+B (in the air) to hit, my EX Phoenix arrow hits, but not fully, the second part whiffs, making it impossible to continue the combo

9:00

Can somebody explain how does he land the command throw into f+B, qcb+D, f+b, qcb+d.
does he jump for both f+Bs, or is the first one done off the ground? are those short hops?

I agree with the above post. I had a lot of fun watching the pool stream and the finals stream, though it wasn't that hype as the EVO 2012 stream that got my interest for KOF in the first place. People may complain that a few of the big names were not present at this EVO, but at the same time we had some great players make it to this EVO that were not present in 2012 and 2013.

I really wanted Violent Kain to win that match too. Iori mirrors were tense.

I would love to, but I play KOFXIII on Steam and on XB360, I don't own a PS3 system.
Besides, online it's only playable on Steam...

Yeah, I meant the third but I wrote second.

I actually pulled it off a few times yesterday in practice. I was just hoping it would be more reliable and practical.
Like I said in one of the previous posts, I had a weird problem with the 1003 damage combo - I was running out of HD before I could activate NM, but I got rid of that issue.

Care to explain? How can I ensure that my df+C hits the opponent on the juggle?

I've been playing KOF XIII for a few months on XB360 (only VS CPU, practice mode and the mega laggy online mode :( ), but now I've finally got myself the Steam Edition.

location: Croatia, Europe

XB Live: HeroNoMore99 (if someone wants to unlock the 10 ranked wins in a row achievement on both sides - I'm in ;)) just PM me for Live matches. I never had the chance to play against other European players on Live, if we're both on the same continent, maybe it would even be playable (3 or 4 bars?)

General Discussion / Re: Joypad player needs some advice
« on: April 09, 2014, 06:21:56 PM »
Thanks for the reply. I'm a bit more used to hyper hops now. I was stuck with Iori's trial nr 9. That combo is so annoying, I've kept trying it for at least two hours during the previous weekend. I wasn't able to complete the trial, but I've noticed I'm much better with the hyper hops and applying pressure after that. It's weird, now I have hyperhops down (with the  ;dn;up +slide back  ;dn input), but my regular hops are still pretty bad, can't do them every time I want. I hope I'll improve with those when I get the Steam Edition and some real vs human opponent matches and experience. That's probably gonna be next week ;)
