I heard about this few days ago and it popped on Steam's Early Access yesterday. Nice timing :)

I can get behind the idea of simplicity. While I like KOF on the very basic level, sometimes the inputs feel kinda hard to do. I think the biggest culprit IMO is Nameless in KOF 2002UM :)

Currently Pocket Rubmle has two characters. They feel very different. Tenchi is the typical "Ryu"-like character and Naomi is more of rushdown character. Both have different meter mechanics. Tenchi gains meter by hitting with special moves and when it's full, he can unleash a super move. Naomi on the other hand can charge her meter and can then use altered versions of her specials, like EX-versions in KOF XIII.

I tried few matches online and it seemed to work well. Game uses GGPO netcode. I could feel some latency, but it didn't bother me that much. I even won one match :)

Game is quite unfinished. Developer said they'll be adding one charatcer per month, but we'll see about that.

I even made short video of showcasing what this has to offer https://youtu.be/ddsYTQ8zWVo

Has anyone else tried this?

Meet & Greet / Reintroducing myself
January 05, 2016, 08:14:06 AM
It has been a while, eh? So long that I decided to reintroduce myself.

So, here I call myself Custle. It's my former internet persona name, nowdays I use different name, but I think this will be fine. I hail from Finland, North-European country. I guess there is some sort of fighting game scene in this country, but it is quite small and more focused on Tekken and Soul Calibur and they are concentrated on bigger cities on the south. I live in north Finland, so it's quite hard to find someone like-minded :)

I'm not super-serious or competitive person when it comes to fighting games. I kind of dropped out of scene few years ago, when I really couldn't play fighting games on PC if I wanted to play against someone and my friends moved on with their lives to study or after work. When at the time new KOF (XIII) came to PC finally, I kinda lost intrest at that point. I really didn't have controller I could use to play. I still bought the day XIII was released, also 98UM and 2002UM, but I didn't really feel like playing them.

Fast forward to this day, now I know what kind of person I am. I enjoy KOF for it's basic gameplay and I enjoy the characters and the SNK universe in general. I enjoy unlocking stuff like pictures. The fact that PC versions of 98UM and 2002UM apparently don't have Gallery mode in them is disapointing for me. Not much for the 98UM, because I have it on PlayStation 2, but for 2002UM it really grinds my gears.

Also annoucement for KOF XIV really made me intrested in the series again (is the graphics whining still a thing?) . I don't own PS4, but I hope it would come to PC later. I guess if someone is intrested to kick my ass in a fighting game, we can arrange something, but I really have to in mood for that :)

I know this forum is North-America centric when it comes scene talk, but I really enjoyed talking about KOF and SNK related stuff.

SNK Games / World Heroes Perfect
May 11, 2011, 04:26:24 PM
So, I finally beat arcade mode with Ryofu (difficulty was Beginner, but damn it was hard!).

I kinda liked WH Perfect. It had nice and colorful graphics, pretty good music and funny characters. My favorite thing has to be Rasputins super (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggd9F3D_n5Q).

What do others think of this?

Pro-Gear / Fightpads?
May 05, 2011, 01:23:42 PM
So, I've never been in an arcade, so I grew up playing with pads. I play fighting games also with pads and I'm looking for a good pad that would work on PC and maybe on PS2/PS2. I play also fighter on PC (mainly PC version Guilty Gera X2 #Reload).

One contender is that Madcatz's Street Fighter fightpad. I've read that it works quite well and it is easy to get work on PC, espcially the Xbox360 version.

Other option is to get adapter that I could plug my Dualshock2 to PC. This would be the cheapest option and Duaslshock2 works well for KOFs, but my own controller is kinda used, but still quite reliable for a pre-owned Gamestop controller.

Third option looks like this

It looks like shit. D-pad looks horrible, but buttons are quite well placed, but I've read even they are quite bad.

What do you think? Or should I just get stick? Budget is quite tight for me, but I want tome kind quality.

So, I got this today. What I tried it, it felt surprisingly smooth, considering it was made for NeoGeo (or is it just me, or do the NeoGeo KOF's feel bit stiff?).

Roster was satisfying. I like the variety in the cast, not how many characters are there. It was nice to see some changes in Fatal Fury team (no Andy? Hell yeah!) and Athena hanging with others (her outfit is horrible in this game). Only complain I have with this, is that where the hell is Ramon?

Gameplay felt like prototype of NGBC. There are some similarities, but it felt still different. Controls felt responsive (I could do   ;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk x2 motion more easily than in XI).

For now, 2003 feels hell of a lot better than 2002 or 98. That is just me of course. What do others think about this game?

Pro-Gear / Consolized MVS
April 19, 2011, 03:30:56 PM
Guess what I found...

http://www.analogueinteractive.com/product.php

Kinda cool? You'll be able to play MVS cartridges without buying cabinet and it has holes for different video cables. Too bad it costs 649 dollars. I'm going to stick with PS2 ports of NeoGeo games.

At least I do.

For me, musics are one of the main factors is the game good. They make the game more enjoyable. For example, I like Tekken 3, but to be honest, musics in it aren't that good.

I personally like jazzy themes. They tend so sound cool and relazing, but they really make you wanna fight (at least this works for me).

Also, which fighting game has the best soundtrack? My personal favorite is Fatal Fury Special's arranged soundtrack. I like every song in it.

SNK Games / Metal Slug Series
January 10, 2011, 12:31:32 PM
I've seen that few people have mentioned Metal Slug around here, so I decided to start topic, because I didn't find one.

I ordered Metal Slug Anthology for PS2 and I hope all the games would be as good as Metal Slug 3 (I already have it). I liked the MM3 very much, but are the other games on Anthology as good or even better than 3?

And does the Anthology have Unlimited lives option? I read from one source that said that it hasn't, but on the source it said it has. Can someone confirm this fact?

Meet & Greet / Greeting fellow SNK fighter fans
January 07, 2011, 04:52:47 PM
Hello

I'm Custle. I'm from Finland and I'm 100% sure that I'm only SNK fan on my area so it is hard to find players. My first SNK fighting game I played was SVC Chaos and I liked it for some strange reason. My first KOF was 2002 and later I bought 98UM, but the my favorite KOF is XI. I also own Battle Coliseum, Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol. 1, Art of Fighting Anthology and Samurai Shodown Anthology. I like talking about fighting games, so don't be afraid to start conversation. And it would nice if there is other people from Finland, because I want know more SNK fans from here.

My biggest dream is to play KOF on some tournament, but for now it is impossible. Maybe someday...
