Offline Matchmaking / Re: Miami KOF(Meetups @ Arcade Odyssey?)
« on: May 26, 2013, 06:29:31 PM »
The plans for meeting up at Arcade Odyssey fell through but on the plus side Tevin is now hosting KOF13 gatherings at his place in Homestead every other Friday.  And yes, I attended last one this past Friday. There are plans for another gathering this coming Friday so I you want any specific details please send Tevin a message.

Alright so Tevin and I have decided to start weekly KOF sessions at Arcade Odyssey on Thursdays.  Currently we have two other local players on board for this with the possible third if one of Tevin's friends who also plays KOF can make it.  We encourage all players in the area to participate if they are able to.  Since the tourneys held there run the 360 version I assume that will be the standard for now.  Playing casuals all night is only $5.

I've got no problems meeting up on weekdays at AO for 13 casuals.  I'm usually free Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.  I'm really rusty with a stick since I mostly play on pad nowadays but I could use the practice in the less than two weeks since the tourney starts.  I'd rather drive and pay money for offline casuals than play with the shoddy online mode.  About the 98UM cab, I heard its a new addition and I gave it some play.  They used to have a Neo Geo Battle Coliseum cab set up but they replaced it with something else since no one played it.

Upcoming Tournaments & Events / Re: Miami KOF Tournament @ Arcade Odyssey
« on: January 14, 2013, 08:41:47 PM »
Already put myself down as "Going" on facebook.  Since this is a tourney for only 13 hopefully it'll be less disorganized than the first one back in March 2012.  I'm more exited about playing casuals than the tournament though.

Online Matchmaking / Re: PSN KOF XII

have u had the chance to play a gut named plus

Plus1979.  He's one of the few players that's actually better than me at the game.  He's really good.  Also beat several of my friends without much problem.

I had him in my friend list, always beats me, is a master in KOF XII, but is a scrub in other KOFs, maybe he is accoustumed to play XII, last time while we was playing KOF 96, he wrote messages with things like "only with this chars know to play?", "poor of you", "You never do combos" "return to plat SF", etc., its a pain people like him know are crying every loses, I deleted him.

I actually blocked Plus1979 on PSN for being an ass by spamming me with trash talk messages after every single time I lost to him.  No offense to Mexican players but the majority I've played in XII have poor sportsmanship and/or ragequit.

In the 100+ matches I've played online I've only seen Hwa, Raiden, Chin and Maxima once.  Billy i've never seen used at all.  Everyone's sticking to the shotos I guess.  The lag tactics people use on ranked remind me of the olden days of XII.  I take it the slight input lag some of you are experiencing make long hd combos unfeasible/not worth it?

King of Fighters XI / Re: The King of Fighters XI Video Thread

While the OST doesn't include Arashi no Saxophone 2, The Trooper, Come Up Smiling, Wild Party or most notably New Order(best XI track IMHO), I guess its still a worthy pre-order bonus.

I'm quite surprised by all of the negativity regarding information we've had for months. Shortly after XIII was announced, it was made clear that there would not be a clan 3-on-3 mode. A few days later, we were told there would not be a spectator mode. Honestly, most KOF players would have been happy with a straight port with online and we're getting so much more than that and the negativity is spiraling out of control.
I think you are taking what people are saying way too seriously. Just because someone expresses disappointment about a couple of things does not mean they suddenly hate the game. For instance, I said I was disappointed at there being so many EX characters instead of some completely different characters. I expressed my opinion, then I got over it. The level of hype I have for this game has not gone down even a little. Hell, I'm so excited for this game I got 2 copies pre-ordered so I can give one to a friend.

One guy said he was cancelling his pre-order (he was probably joking) and everyone just freaked out about it. I don't appreciate people assuming that everyone who has a complaint is some kinda cry baby. That's not how it is.

I think in general people read way too much into what people say on the internet.
I was the guy who said was canceling their pre-order.  Let me clear things up so as to abate this negativity:  I was simply joking.  However I am dissapointed in SNKP for their choice of DLC characters.  I know its less costly to modify an existing character than making a new one from scratch.  I would have personally preferred an EX Terry like in '98 with the Fire Kick.

Online Matchmaking / Re: NeoGeo Station KOF 95 netcode testing
« on: August 02, 2011, 08:01:17 PM »
Just bought this last night and I've got to say the netcode is actually quite good.  However, every person I've attempted to play with ends up leaving the game whenever I'd pick an edit team(both were Korean btw).  There some unwritten rule I don't know about?  Another guy rage quit on me when I had the lead.  Despite that I hope to play some of you guys online.

Gamespot article stated the online play will be based on "the improved online of KOF XII's latter days"; the online after the patch was/still is terrible, with even more input lag.

I wonder what Luther is doing now.
