Yeah that's pretty much the trick to it, waiting at some of the last possible time to  ;b ;d Venom Strike then doing  ;d Tornado kick ASAP, after doing it in match more than three times this is the conclusion that I've come up with as well.

Went back to practice it some more and man is the timing tight.

In the first combo, I can't seem to get that last tornado kick after the drive canceled air qcf+B, lol.

Finally got it to work myself, seems to be pretty tight (although even if you miss the last hcb D you still do slightly more damage than other variations):  Do the Ex qcf K as late as possible and [DC] the air qcf B as late as possible.

EDIT: It seems to be more important that you get the Ex qcf K as late as possible and do the hcb D as fast as possible then just [DC] air qcf B relatively late.  Still hard.

Been meaning to "extract" (translate) these combos over for many months now, Evo training kinda got in the way... but the combos here are way too cool not discussed.  

One of the last combos shown here is very practical, damaging and stylish (IMO).  It's a 3 stock 1 drive near corner combo and easier to time than the last combo in the video. Damage is 615 but 661 if you add a jump in.

j.C, s.C, f A, qcb P x2, Empty Cancel, dp C (2 hits), [DC] Ex qcb AC x2, Empty Cancel, f B, DM, DM follow up.

It's impressive to watch but even more impressive if you know what type of execution is required to do the combo.

I dunno how it would be possible, but if only we could integrate the forums with the front page posts some how. 

Might need a complete layout in order to do so, but it's a shame when our front page editors spend a lot of time writing stuff up and it may get skipped over.  Any ideas?

I get asked this a lot.  Generally fast characters: Particularly ones that can punish from farther distances.  So Duo Lon, Ex Iori, Claw, Kyo, Mai, Kim are the few among the top of my head.  Personally I hate a good King as well.

It depends how you define a good reversal.  Strictly speaking, it's one of the BEST reversals since it's a 1F startup.   Like any good reversal, get too predictable and a good player is going to punish you hard.   His Counters changes the tide of matches either way.

I believe the close C in the kick stance has the same properties of a regular close C.  If you're not canceling, it's -4 on block.  If you hop cancel off any strong attack you're +17 if I remember correctly.

Personally, I think it's technically 50/50 not factoring in the fact that Kim's a hard opponent to deal with in general.  Chin's good at blowing up Kim's safejump setups and Kim's good at dodging Ex Flex Punch and punishing it with his aerial moves.

Since our QUOTE function is being stupid now, I can't be a little more precise so I'll just throw my two cents:

Like what most ppl said earlier, what you are going throw is completely normal.  Unless you're a super high level player like Reynald, Bala etc...it takes times to digest the new information--they can just do it at a very rapid rate.

Several personal guidelines I abide by when I learn new characters:


a) I only cycle in one new character per team.  So keep two of my original mains, and throw in someone.

b) I play the new character first.  This is so I get the maximum exposure with him and

c) I don't rely on them using meter.  It's natural to want to rely on their (Ex) specials, supers etc... but it makes you far too predictable.   Just think if you were using your King that way, what if you only did wake up Trap Shots and did Venom Strikes all day without testing out her s.B?  You get the point.  It's also I lot easier to add meter, to your already internalized BnB combos, than to work the other way around (Ok I learned his 1 drive 1 meter punish--what do I do when I have no meter?)

d) I force myself to use MOSTLY normals when I learn the character.

e) I learn the punishes (not all, like 1 or 2 TOPS).

f) I only learn two HDs (and this really goes for all my characters but that's just a preference): One fullscreen/anywhere, one corner.
