Hey guys, do meaty specials gain additional frame advantage?

After a forward throw in the corner for example: if Raiden were to do a C mist and have it connect on it's later active frame, would he be at a bigger frame advantage than if it were to connect on the first one?

Yeah by example, there is a setup where you cna link s.B with kyo after a close C which is +2 on hit normally.

Could it be worth to mention that raiden ready go is throwable in his charge animation quite easily with a good command throw?

Is there a formula to determine a combo's damage for when one cannot execute it within the game?

Each hits reduce damage by 5% (ie first hit does 100%, second 95, third 90% etc). Up to a 80% reduction for every normal/specials, up to 60% for SDM, and 50% for NM. Some moves reduce damages even further (Ash sans culottes).

Started as Kim/Yuri/Takuma on arcade went to Kyo/Yuri/Kim at the beginning of the console version, still on it, learning Shen bits by bits.

I'm not the kind to use a lot of characters till i don't understand everything, and this game is too deep for me to achieve this one day.

Well i would say that don't use the haoshokoken but the qcf hcb.P DM instead, since it does more damage and gives you a neat hard knockdown.

For the s.C,f.B,db~f.K issue it has been discussed in depth in this forum :D

You might have experienced while playing yuri a problem to do your setups making you miss the "reversal" dive kick on the demon flip dp.K

Here is a little trick I found to make it a guaranteed sucess using the game buffer.

The problem is if you double tap D for doing dp.D,dive you might miss the reversal window, and if you tap nothing and stay put on the first D the move is too slow to allow the buffer to be wide enough with only one press.

But you can push dp.D and stay put on B to have a guaranteed reversal dive.

Inputs will look like this on p1 side:

Moreover it is a good way to time your anti roll option select. Once you see the dive coming out just push D to make it coming out.

I think it's because you're delaying the cr.B, you end up further and miss the combo. If you mash those and chain cancel them ASAP you will be close enough for it to work.

Anyway in my opinion you have a better time to end up with qcb.B, because you can't confirm the DP if the s.B hits, while with a well delayed d.B,d.B,s.B,qcf.B you end up too far for being punished by most throws, and at s.C range. You can always confirm with the orochi EX too.

Even if you deal less dmg with a raw qcf.B you keep a very strong pressure and momentum.

Learn the basics,

How to move (Dashs, Backdashs, Jumps, Rolls)

Which character does what (Basically, it is a hadotrap, mixup, pressing character, with which moves, why is it efficient, how to counter each move, etc)

Choose 3 characters you like and start to learn them in depth, the frame data, which move must be used to press, to fight pressings, to anti air, ...

Find optimized combos and start to learn them, at first without meter and start to learn a new combo when you're able to do the one you learned 10 times in a row without dropping them on both sides, from each type of opening.

Start to understand how the match ups works, which move, strategy is efficient against this character etc.

Also I hope we've got some surprises waiting for this year's Evo. Last year's stories were Kim (the strongest overall performing char at the tourney), Duolon and Chin. For some reason I'm thinking Ryo, K', or Daimon (if not all three), especially Ryo. That dude scares me.

Isn't that normal you have to redo all the work you've done with your others chars?

Seems quite natural to me.

I tried Hwa, good to nothing except being bodied.

But with other chars such as Karate, Kula, Shen, else if I'm bad with those I can still steal some matches at lower lvl player because I'ml sticking to basics and don't try to do anything fancy with them since I don't master it yet. Just a very straightforward gameplan and punishing things for beginning then injecting bits of my playstyle from others characters and went on.

I'm still terrible with my second team though.
And not that good with the main >_>

We did test the post safe jump anti command grab setup by extanding the unthrowable frames.

The results after hours of tests are that you can only expand those by one frame. If your safe jump lose to 3 frames moves you're able to OS the 4f invincible command grab by inputting your crouch guard at a timing near the last frame available. And so one if your doing a 4f dafe jump you're able to make whiff 5frames command grab etc.

It's very hard to perform it consistently, moreover whe didn't found any way to efficiently train it (alone I mean).

You can only cancel specials moves into specials (drive cancel) on hit never on block and the only interesting way to use this is by buffering the special/super while doing a reversal dp for 'hit confirming' it in another combo.

But you can super cancel on block normally ...
