If there is one theme I want to hear again in KOFXIII, it's Big Shot.

They included it as the 'alternate' BGM for the Fatal Fury team in the arcade version - you can hear it in some Japanese match videos.

It's something like that.  ST, can you help read the annotations on the video and translate what it says.  I know it says something about overhead, and something about crossup.  Thanks in advance.

Just the Duolon stuff? The captions are
"The overhead pattern that you want to go for"
"Overhead -> crossup combo that burns gauge"
"Overhead from EX Genmukyaku (f+BD)"

I beg to differ:  The setups actually illustrates something the Japanese have being doing for quite some time that's going to change with the console.  No.17 explained to us back in Evo that (and I'm not 100% sure if I understood him correctly but it sure as hecks looks like it and even mentioned in the video) when Duo Lon gets the opponent in a back-turned situation (e.g. Rekkas x3, qcf B, s.A), as their landing, there's apparently a split second where the opponent is turning back to normal--during this time, all (standing?) attacks are overheads.

The conditions are unclear but you can see it a lot in Liz juggle videos.  Instead of finishing with a DM after the double DPs, she'll dash in s.A and start all over again and you'd think to yourself, "how come the opponent didn't block that?"  All we know is due to the changes in the hitboxs/harder crossups, this "feature" is no longer present in the consoles according to Japanese report.

Is this the same bug? If so, then the way you activate it is slightly different from what you mentioned:
http://orochinagi.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=70165#p70165

I found it on Dune's blog a while back and wrote up a translation. Also found a match video where one of the K' players managed to use it to good effect (posted in the thread).

Quick reminder - contest ends this Sunday, so PM me your entry if you want a shot at one of the posters.

Not to be a buzzkill or anything, but wouldn't you want to see how the networking code has turned out before you organise any sort of tournament?

37
I wonder if Mr Karate will be used as an opportunity to put KOF2002 Takuma into the game. If that's the case I don't think I'd mind too much.

Send me your entries via PM. Unless you want other people to steal your ideas :)

I'm doing this contest at three different places (ON, DC and the Atlus forums) so you're only allowed to submit one entry through one of the sites.

As for whether I'll ship outside the US...I'm not quite sure yet. For now the shipping cost doesn't look too bad, so you can assume that the answer is yes.

Hey guys!

As you probably know, I was recently at PAX 11 in Seattle to try out King of Fighters XIII. While I was there the good people at Atlus USA were kind enough to furnish me with some KOF XIII posters, which I'm now going to give away! However, to make it a bit more interesting, I'm going to give away these posters to three memberswho can complete the following statement in the most interesting manner:

I'm looking forward to King of Fighters XIII because...

The ones that I deem the 'best', i.e. most interesting answers will each win a KOF XIII poster kindly provided by SNK Playmore and Atlus.

Just so you know what you're playing for, here's what the poster itself looks like:
http://twitpic.com/6eod8t

Here are the rules:
1) Each contestant may only submit ONE entry through ONE site.
2) Keep your answers short - around the length of a tweet (140-150 characters) should be fine.
3) To enter, send me a forum private message with your entry.
4) The deadline to enter is September 18th 2011, at 11:59PM PST. No exceptions!

Once I've decided who the winners are, I'll make a post in this thread and PM the winners for their mailing addresses so I can send out your posters.

Have fun, and good luck!

Possibly...there was at least another difficulty above Hard so that might be more interesting to play against.

Definitely better than XII's (which isn't saying much) but not quite up to the same level as XI's I think. For the most part it just seems to be very psychic (note Leona blowing four stocks in rapid succession in an attempt to punish perceived openings).

Got a few more videos here of the non-versus modes, which rounds out my video recording from PAX:

There's loading between rounds but it's very fast with the game installed. Barely two seconds.

As for the PS3 cover...not going to make any promises but I'll see if they'll let me take another one tomorrow, lol.
