While I don't think 10/25 is solid, 11/23 isn't that sensible a date, and would be after Europe, which I just don't see happening period.

Well I did not see anything about the rumor. At the Amazon the date is still 10/25/2011.
I hope there will not be any change...but if they are going to put out something creepy, I would rather they dilate the releasing date.

And I saw a lot of Thanks there@@ Thank you guys, you guys are just so nice!

Come now guys, I translated this thing is not because I want to see you guys fight. If you want to fight, fine, go to 2002 or 1998 and settle things down there. I would be happy to see you guys fight on Garou so I can take some notes.

Also, Kane, you are welcome and I will keep an eye on the official blog. Since I still new and cannot join any topics of fighting skill here, I guess translating is the least thing I can do to support KOF.
I have talked with Giby and he taught me several moves, but it seems knowing the theories and putting them in the fight is two different things...I can only hope time will help. TAT

Piccollo vs trunks? Best colour edit ever!

I recognized piccollo but not trunks though he would make sense i guess. Long time since i read any dragon ball comics.. Then again, they wheren't really my thing anyways.

Thanks Theodora, i'm hyped and I'll happily jump right back off the sf4 bandwagon the day the game drops.
Wow, I am impressed. I was expecting no one remember to say thanks and yet here is one. You are welcome! I will keep an eye on the official blog and ready to translate anything comes in my eyes.
BTW, I am still practicing MOTW...I am having real trouble on canceling special. I wonder can I make it before the console...Oh well, I will just play with the Tutorial Mode then :)

Guys, miss me yet?
Translation again! This time is about the Tutorial!
Origenal Post

OK then, please tell us about the Tutorial Mode.

*Learn to use the basic system
*Learn to use the gauge system
Yamamoto P:
This is a mode to teach the beginners of fighting games or people who play KOF for the first time the fundamental of the game. This is also a practice for them to get used to the system.

Yamamoto P:
There are two big parts of the mode. The first part is Base System, which teach you how to "Go Forth," "Different Kinds of Jump" and "Passive."

The second part is Gauge System, which teach you how to use "Super Move," "Drive Cancel" and "Super Meter."
Both parts are the fundamental to play this game. What we hope the players focus the most is "Different Kinds of Jump" from the Base System and "Drive Cancel" from Gauge System. We believe that these should help the players a lot when they play this game.

*Rose: In this Tutorial Mode, I will teach you the basic of how to control your character.
The tutor of Tutorial Mode is fixed as Rose.
Also, The stage is fixed as Kyokugen Dojo. Player character is fixed as Kyo and opponent character is fixed as Raiden.

I kinda understand why is Kyo, but why Raiden?
Yamamoto P:
Because he is a professional wrestler and he understand how to passive!!
(theodora: For many different reasons, I personally want to beat up Raiden...BADLY.)

BTW, is there any reason for non-beginner players use Tutorial Mode?
Yamamoto P:
Basically, this is a mode for beginners to practice the basic move and learn the basic knowledge to eventually join the real fight. However, for those who believe "I know all of this basic" not to forget the fundamental, please try this mode once, maybe you can find something new out of it.

So that's the reason. I took pride of my strength, but I will try Tutorial Mode once when I play this game.

This is the end of introduction of Tutorial Mode. Since we have a chance here, let's lack something about the "Characters Customize" we have talked about.

..................Light (Pi--) Death!!
Yamamoto P: ......(LOL)

Until we meet again!

Done! (grab my cap and...let's not throw it this time) I saw it after school and I think I better translate it. I know it's not very smart to do such thing before my test, but my love to KOF can surpass everything! (And I can study later anyway)
Guys, KOF console version is around the corner.
Are you ready?

General Discussion / Re: The King of Fighters XIII Video Thread

Kyo's win quote:

"Revenge failed, Benimaru. Not even your lightning can extinguish my fire."

What's going on here?

When Beni and Kyo first met, Beni was the known champion, Kyo was the new guy. When they fought, Kyo kicked his butt, and became the number 1.

They're always talking about this mini-rivalry between each other, and this is just another reference to it.

As it says on the SNKWiki:

Quote
Benimaru is a young son of a multi-millionaire family. He is a professional fighter and part-time professional modeler who is very confident in his abilities. When Japan held a tournament for their country's representative team in the King of Fighters, Benimaru entered and made it to the finals. Despite his experience, he lost to newcomer Kyo Kusanagi and earned second place. He and Kyo enter the 1994 KoF tournament with the third place contestant, Goro Daimon. Eventually, he befriends his teammates and joins them for the rest of the saga.
I heard rumor about this. It says that in truth Kyo's opponent was not Yagami, but Benimaru. However, Benimaru was not as popular as SNK Hoped him to be, so they created Yagami as Kyo's new opponent. I have know this rumor for a while, I just don't have any reference to know if it is true or not.

A Shocking Conclusion
Can't forget this man. I was shouting like died when watching this.

I have so less information in hand so I cannot say it for sure, but I feel KOF is changing it's way. I wonder if SNK is looking for a different target market or something else, but I can tell KOF is no longer the same as we play 1998 or 2002.

I truly hope XIII can make a good sales now. I can feel how much time and spirit SNK had put into XIII. Even with Blazblue and Street Fighters out there, I believe XIII will be may game of the year.

@a11111357:
You posted just before I did, but great findings! As expected, Japan gets ecchi/cute "phone cards" as pre-order incentives. But I always wondered why are these cards given so often as pre-order bonuses? Do people actually use them or just collect them for the artwork?

I didn't read anything about the phone cards on snkp's site. Will everyone preordered kofxiii in Japan get a phone card?

Well I assume those cards with the artwork are phone cards. I remember several articles calling those things "phone cards" but I don't know really what they are.

They are the cards that you can input an among of money, then you can use it on the public phone to avoid bring a lot of coins with you just to make a phone call.
However, I believe those card are for Otaku and they may not be using those cards as usual as it suppose to be. Most likely, they want the cards just because of the artwork. (With the population of cell phone today, it's pretty meaningless to have a phone card).

The dialog of Duck King was really a challenge to me. The "YO!" at the end of the sentence in truth was part of the sentence, but this part did not available in English(......). So the only thing I could do was to ignore the grammar and still put it in the end of the sentence...It looks pretty weird thought...

OK then I will translate the interview about the story. Ready guys? Here it comes!

Please, tell us about the story.
Yamamoto P:
So it's Yamamoto P who has to answer your questions. (LOL)
If I explain everything in clear details, it may decrease your excitement when playing the game, so I will just roughly explain the general.

Story Mode is a visual novel of different episode that did or did not appear in the Arcade version. Generally they can classify as "Fighting Parts" and "Visual Novel Part."

*試合開始= Start the fight
*スタジアム内部= Inside the stadium
*スタジアム周辺= Around the stadium

In the fighting part, you can choose any team to join the Tournament.
The before fight dialogue is also 3 to 3, so there can be more that two characters talking. We have a lot of grinning in the dialogue.
Of course, according to the result of the fight, the story line will change.

*Takuma: You idiot daughter! How dare you join this tournament without asking my permission!?

"Visual Novel Part" is to see the tournament part from different point of view.
Mainly from the viewpoint of Ash, Adelheid and Heidern to see the complete story.

*Ash: You guys are "good children" right?
So you never entered "That Room" before, right?

And there are also viewpoint of (Pi------) and (Pi-----)
(Pi-------------------------------------------)......
I feel like I am lacking too much. Please play the game yourself to understand the story.

Maxima: There are some images on the wall behind...It looks like some human and some monster looking creature.
It seems like the god they believed in. And there is a line between that linked them together.

The scene once seen will appear in the "Chapter Menu" so that you can repeat it and watch it again.
It should take some time to full completion, so please play with patience.

(Breathing hard(theodora: I had no idea why this appear in the interview...but it was there anyway))So actually, what is the highlight of the Story Mode?
Yamamoto P:
Certainty the Story Mode itself is a highlight of that game, but please take a good look for the gallery that draw for the main story.
Also there are some Guest Characters. although they don't have much to do with the main story, there are some nostalgia characters showed up.

*Duck: YO! It's been a long while and now you TALK ON THE PHONE?
I'm really sad you know YO!

Is there any variation according to the path the players choose?
Yamamoto P:
We are not taking other place unceremoniously but only spend most of our time and people on this part! I can only answer you like this.

Done! (throw my cap again) This is the part of story guys. I feel KOF XIII is kind of close to Blazblue?

41
Hey guys, is there any translation about the missions? If not I can translate it. It shouldn't take me longer than 2 hours.

Also, do anyone of you know when and where EVO 2012 is going to take place? It should be cheaper to buy the ticket one year earlier.

General Discussion / Joining to get a KOFXIII poster!
« on: September 11, 2011, 10:32:50 PM »
I'm looking forward to King of Fighters XIII because KOF is my first fighting game that I actually want to join and play.

I used to watch a lot of fighting game like Street Fighters, Guilty Gear, Taken and Blazblue, however, none of those game made me feel burning(燃える). When watching those game, I won't get excited when I saw a nice combo, I won't jump up and acclaim when I saw the winner, I won't get upset when I saw someone drop the combo, but I do all these thing when watching KOF. I knew about those "new" XIII characters but I will still buy the game, and hopefully SNK can make some better game using these money. (I am also waiting for Rock too...I wonder if there will actually have a continue of Mark Of The Wolves...)

>>Desmond
Yeah, you're welcome! I still have some time since this is the beginning of the semester, hopefully I can do more translation on other information of KOF XIII^^

>>SAB-CA
If Yamamoto P say so then it should be, he is the directer of KOF XIII, you know.
An other stage I am curious is the new video of Flame Iori on the top page, I never see that stage at any version of KOF XIII. I wonder is that also a stage that will appear in console version.

Meet & Greet / Re: New fighter callin on!
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:33:07 PM »
Welcome to DC :)

Remember me when you look at the moon *laughs*
That is the winning quote of Iori :p In truth, the original quote (月を見る時に思い出せ!) can also mean "Remember your failure when you see the moon."
What I was saying there was a line from Vice when you choose her.(満月の夜にまた会おうか。 "May we meet at the night of full-moon)
I also like the choosing line of Mature too (虜にしてあげるわ!"I will make you my prisoner!")
So sad that they said they are not going to show up again... :((According to Iori team's ending)
