Then why would it take a dominant performance from someone to change your mind?

If Athena is low tier to you then NOTHING should change your mind.

I said dominate, not win once.

Justin dominated a major with Iron Fist.  Want me to keep going?

If you can show me a tournament where an Athena player dominates I'll eat my words. Until then, fat chance little buddy.

And again there's nothing about Athena that sticks out. She has no X factor. There's way better zoning characters and way better hybrid characters with command grabs.

I can show you a tournament for Marvel 3 where Phoenix Wright wins.  Tournament results don't mean shit, if you honestly believe Athena is low tier, then any tourney shouldn't change your mind.

I guarantee the only reason you're saying this is because A) You haven't faced a good Athena or B) You're still salty about online Athenas and by proxy will never give an Athena any credit because it doesn't involve rushdown.

A wise man once said: I calls 'ems likes I sees 'ems.

Considering your history of calls via your eyesight, I stand by my statement.

Yeah she can build meter but again, if you want to punish her doing that you're free to do that. That invincible command grab, truth be told if I see someone do that I'm going to bait it and punish. Prove me wrong but I just don't see anything to that character that makes her truly viable.

If you're afraid to do a sequel just because it might be inferior then you have no business in the VG industry.  Real Talk.

The problem was he shouldn't have spent so much time trying to find a counter, and instead used his most comfortable point character (I'd say Billy) and just use him throughout.  He would've picked up on the matchup eventually and would've been good.  But he spent so much time trying to find a counter, Duo was just allowed to run train.

People forget, Mad_KoF ALSO has a huge stable of characters he plays, but he stuck it out with one team, even when Bala got a 2-1 lead on him in the first set.  Counter-picking will only get you so far.  While you should have at least a 6 character stable, you should have 3 go to characters in ALL situations.  Your true mains.  Those are the ones you go to when the chips are down because you know how to play them, it becomes instinctual.  When using characters that aren't your mains, you can be proficient, but compared to true masters of the characters your timing will be a millisecond off, your decision making slightly less clutch.  With your mains, it comes natural.  There's no thinking about the next step in matchups, you just do the step.  That comes over playing them over and over again in all situations, something you can't do if you're constantly switching around characters.

No, it can't be a 10+ year game because there will never be one again, just do to how things have changed within the community and the industry.

It didn't matter who he should've stuck it out it with, as long as he stuck it out with SOMEONE on point.  His Shen and Takuma were able to become more effective over the set since Bala kept playing him, but because his point was in constant roulette mode, he never got going at the start of the match short of the one Ralf blow up, and falling behind nearly every game to Mad_KoF's Duo is a recipe for disaster.

I'm not saying that games won't be taken out.  I'm saying you shouldn't look at it as "Oh, that games gonna be taken out" more than something else just earned their spot.  The only things I can see as being "taken out" are Blazblue from before, due to circumstances that have already been discussed to death, and likely SFxT.  After that, it's a matter of earning your spot, not something losing it.

But either way, discussion on what games will be there next year should not even happen for 6 months.

If we're going speculation lists,

1. Marvel
2. AE
3. KOF
4. TTT2

From the way things look, I would have MK9 again over Injustice. Injustice just seems too wacky. P4A has a chance, but it will need strong tournament exposure throughout the season.

Injustice is also in alpha stage, so no true opinions can be formed yet.  But if it fails to meet standards, people will have no problem staying on MK9.

Persona does have a chance, it's getting some interest from many circles ala KOF, but it doesn't have the leftover community from previous games to pick it up.  It should be interesting how it performs.

AE was running over 2 hours late. Maybe 5 games is the magic number for an Evo.

That much was already obvious.  Luckily, 5 games will be the standard again since the reason we had 6 this year is no longer a problem.

The question is are they taking SFxT out or MK? from what we've seen KoF should make it to evo2013 but you dont know what happens in a year time.(it is unlikely that they well take it out though)

The answer is it's not a matter of taking anything out.  The list is redone from scratch basically, and we'll have TTT2, Persona and possibly Injustice out before EVO next year.  It's hard to predict what will be there next year other than Marvel and AE.

With Evo now over I think most will come away with the impression that XIII top 8 was easily the most hype moment of the tournament, everything else paled in comparison. AE in particular was a complete let down compared to last year.

Hey, it's not their fault that Infiltration decided to beat everyone to within an inch of their life...and then Demon the rest of it away.

Korea just seems straight up hungry these days, from Mad_KoF's magnificent Duo and Chin, to Infiltration completely destroying pretty much any person in his path in AE in a more dominant way than Daigo ever did.

Just when it seemed everyone stepped it up to get on Japan's level (and Mexico in KOF), Korea did that and then made a level beyond that.
