General Discussion / Re: PS3 Legacy Controllers Disconnecting
« on: September 11, 2016, 03:32:14 PM »
A friend of mine tried his madcatz TE and it disconnected aswell. It caused some issues that forced us to reboot the ps4 actually. Another friend has the same make of TE stick and told me that it doesn't work with his pc. Myself i use a hori stick and it works flawlessly so i wonder if it has anything to do with the type of usb used with madcatz sticks.

I'm sure that things like this have been said before but; Try it in person. I played it offline with a couple of friends and they were surprised by how much better it looks in person. To me, kof 14 looks perfectly fine in terms of graphics and it has alot of charm. I can't stop laughing at Dino going Gurrr.

Good for you! I agree that they've made a really enjoyable game and i too spend a lot of time in training mode. Partly because online is iffy ofcourse, but also because i enjoy seeing what different characters are capable of.

As far as i know there is none, it took maybe two years or so for decent framedata to appear for 13 so you may have to wait.

Jump ins don't generally have as much stun as they do in sf so you have to hit relatively late during your jumps in most kofs. It feels different from character to character in 14 but for alot of characters it's more lenient than in 13 actually.

Your light normals will generally range from 0 to +2 on block so try to find lights that link into heavies, they'll obviously be good frametraps and if you can't find any then try out what works with "1 guard jump" in training mode.

In 13 almost all normals had 2 frames of hitstun more than blockstun. It feels like it's going to hold up in 14 aswell.

Far D has good range.

I noticed something interesting while fiddling with Yuri today. She can combo s.B s.A d.B d.C srk.C. You can obviously do different things with the ending, for example command grab wich actually does connect aswell. I haven't found any similar combos for other characters yet, but it is a possibility.

13 has team endings and individual discussions between characters along the way in arcade mode.

The music was ok and Nakoruru seems fine but the other two just look awkward.

Maybe Custle means stuff like making women weak and feeble or something. idk that seems kinda wrong sometimes... but maybe that's just me :/

Yeah, the problem really lies in defining "tasteful". As i said, i don't mean that he/she meant anything bad. But if you think about it, who determines what's tasteful? There are clearly some things that most people will agree are tasteless, but where do you draw the line?

We don't need to find the line btw.

And yeah, the song is hype. So many good songs this iteration :o Though, i hope they have a classic songs option like w/ 13. That'd be pretty sweet.

Song's being stage based will be a big boon. I'm gonna be glad to not have to listen to iori/karate's theme every other game, or namely whoever your point character is.

Only theme i recall really liking is the saxophone theme wich is really sweet, then there's a bunch of fine to good ones and the odd stinker (south america). Seem pretty middle of the road to me. But i agree with you, optional tracks would be sweet and possibly getting more variation this time around should be nice.

All I say, it's okay to women be attractive, in a tasteful way.

Funnily enough that's a pretty judgemental position. I'm not saying that you mean anything bad with it or anything like that, but it should be fine for women to be sexy in whatever way they or anyone wants them to be, right? Live and let live you know.

Then how can you compare them if youve never played them? Im not talking about XIII im talking about XIV. 98 doesnt have target combos and I didnt even mention s.B.and d.D is better in 98 especially if you canceled it to a better fireball and had more range. This is also with 98 s. C+D. No objections to XIII Kensou (given other versions have been better). However, making him more 98 with sub par normals in XIV, makes him incomplete (the basis of my initial post). Giving him janky normals but removing his rekka game, flip and sB ,C  makes him incomplete. Its obvious he got the raw deal when compared to Athena and Chin. Athena is superior in every aspect compared to him in XIV.

I didn't actually compare anything smartass, i have played 98 and you did list s.B and c.D (wich would either mean close or crouch, i wrongly assumed crouch) as better normals in 98. I did not say that his 13 normals are better, i said that some of them are good and that you were complaining about the good ones.

I realise now though that i thought you were complaining about his 13 normals because of these lines; "Both 98 and XIII are polar opposites from each other.  Missing his command grab (that has no animation in 98) and has better normals in 98 (ex. s.C+D,s.B,c.D,s.D)."

Starting with 98 and 13 and shifting to 98 and 14 without any notice. Anyways, this is nothing to argue about. You may well be right. If he isn't as mobile as 13 and lacks some of the tools of 98 then perhaps he may suffer for it.

Kensous d.B and d.D are amazing in 13 and s.B is good because of his target combo and s.D has great active frames wich allow for him hitconfirming stuff off of it. Not to say you're wrong, because i haven't tried 98 Kensou since i was a kid, but you're complaining about the stuff that actually is good with him in 13.

And yeah, Kensou may take some getting used to in 13, but he is good.

I think they had good intentions with 13 and that they managed to make a great but flawed game. With 14 they gave up on one thing (2d) to achieve a better product overall. I don't think it's nessecarily that they tried harder or anything like that but rather that 3d made things easier.
