Keep your hopes up man; when the demo first came out I think a lot of people were convinced Mai was bad, as she still probably isn't the best but people have found some pretty damn good tech. Once we can take Xanadu and Mian to the lab, we'll see what they can do.

It's been days. Games grow for years. This is like with sf5. Everyone plays prior to release, tier lists are made, bullshit spewn and nothing of it matters half a year after release.

But yeah, characters who look bad may turn out to be good once we figure out what they actually do.

Meitenkuns moveset looks pretty good. Who'd a thunk it? I still don't like Shun'ei but whatever.

Give Mai some time. In 13 she was easy to pick up because of good normals and movement and hard to develop because there weren't many directions for her to go. Hopefully there is more room for her to grow in 14. I'm already sure that she will have better non-corner combos and she has reversal moves in this game. The lack in these departments together in 13 meant that you could disrespect her and unless she was fully loaded or had you in the corner, you could do so with little fear. I think she lost her wonderful far D and with you saying that her ryuuenbus are worse, perhaps she isn't supposed to zone like she did in 13?

That is incorrect. I was cracking a joke about Shun'ei. Turn him into an anime sprite and he would fit right into that game.

I agree and i also think that pillowkid looks like he belongs in Kingdom Hearts. I think someone from SNK said that a younger member of the development team was allowed to create a new character and thus Shun'ei came about.

Alice is simply wonderful. I think she'll be on my team.

Alice seems so weird to me. She has a zaneiken rekka hybrid that launches her into the air so that she can divekick afterwards if it's blocked or so it seems. She has a power dunk rekka looking thing. Alot of her normals go in weird directions. She seems like she could be really dumb or bad and i really can't say for now.

Well, Finland has this old tradition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puukkojunkkari

On the subject Kensou, something was bit off. XIII stance with "classic KOF"-ish costume, he sounded weird, like he had a flu. Also his projectile was so tiny, compared to rest of the cast.

Kensou seems to be more classic Kensou this time around. I like his annoying and overly mobile 13 version so this may be bad for me, but i don't really mind because it may be good and i wasn't planning on focusing on Kensou anyways.

Interesting read about finland btw. Something swedish people joke about is that all finnish people carry knives and this may well explain it.

While I am expressing some disappointment, nothing wrong with that, I think it's a bit of a stretch to say I'm "adopting a negative view." I would encourage anyone who has something that they aren't happy with about this game to go ahead and say it. As long as they keep things civil and aren't just making crap up to stir up others.

Just to clarify, I can't wait for this game to come out. Got the collector's edition pre-ordered. And I will at least try every new character.

I don't think you were wrong in any way. I stated that you were being negative wich is fine by me, but it may have seemed like i wanted to suppress you. My bad.

Kensou looks......weird

His clothes are too shorts. Athena needs to give him an allowance.

I've dreamed of Nordic characters in fighting games, but they are ususally something like "Hey by the way, this character's Swedish". I guess Sweden has most international appeal...

I think Finns are most known in greco-roman and freestyle wrestling circles, but those aren't really "sexy" to be in fighting game. At least SNK had Ivan Sokolov representing real wrestling in Buriki One.

I don't think there's much to represent in Scandinavia either. There is supposedly some "viking wrestling" but seeing how vikings didn't leave manuals like medieval Europeans, for it to believable it would probably have be a sport that survived on iceland. I am very skeptical of this sports historical legitimacy and aside from that i think the north is lacking in martial arts. I know sweden was relatively early for european countries to adopt Judo but it's not big here. Russia has its own schools of martial arts so i think that's a better choice among northern countries.

For a tournament that is suppose to be world wide, KOF poorly represents a lot of the lesser known world. 14 games in the series and we finally have a South American team. Imagine how long it will take to get a full African that does not involve Egypt and South Africa.

Why does it have to represent everywhere? It makes sense to represent countries like Indonesia that actually have martial arts on par with Thailand. India has schools of martial arts that are interesting but that doesn't seem to be touched upon by any fighting game companies. I'd rather have them create interesting characters that they want to create than trying to make a happy-fun-time-rainbow of inclusion just to pander to new audiences.

*I found a list on wikipedia over African martial arts and while most seem rather brutish and unrefined (wich could work well), Engolo or N'golo as it was called on youtube is the most interesting as it holds similarities to various asian styles aswell as Capoeira. I could certainly see a team made up of the various styles i've seen.

As much as I'm looking forward to this game I can't help but feel a bit disappointed in many of these new characters. I realize that KOF hasn't had any real new characters since XI (claw Iori and Saiki don't count in my opinion), but some of these new characters just seem unnecessary.

You do have a point, they already had a fancy boxer in Heavy D for example so Vanessa was a pointless addition back in the day too. The thing is that you're adopting a negative view here. A new character doing "the same stuff" as an old character is a way for snk to expand the lore, the roster and to change movesets.

A lot of characters of old are infact just reimaginings of other characters and you're probably just used to them and therefore more accepting of them.

I liked this trailer. Angels hits looked a bit weak at first but other than that, it's nice. All characters seem like they could be fun to play with Angel and especially Ramon having interesting stuff going on.

Joes C+D is pretty good in kof13 and it looks like it might be better in 14. Then again, it's really down to the boxes so who knows.

Pure garbage. That music will make me ragequit and Zarina playstyle and personality looks terribly boring. I will have to try her out to see if she's actually fun but that trailer didn't do her any favours aside from showing that her outfit looks good-ish.

Real bout 1 has ring outs and that's cool. All playable characters have equal health in kof and imo that's a good thing. It's a good starting point for balance, unlike street fighters variable health and damage wich makes everything a mess where A comepensates for B but what about Q?

^ Some people are that anal retentive about testing on the same stage because certain stages have more/less distance then other stages.

Is that so? In 13 all stages are equally long and i'd expect for snk to stick to that aswell as equal health for all characters etc.

Is the game region locked though? If not, it's easy to just order the u.s. version of the game via amazon.co.uk. I'll probably go that route so i do want to know.
