Huh.. just walked into the store and bought one.  I thought I'd have more trouble acquiring one of these than that.

And now for work to end...

Mai Shiranui / Re: Mai Shiranui d.B d.A >d.C help!!

I gave up the possibility of doing it consistently, but what did help me is looking at the animation for cr.A and pressing C when Mai is.. well if its the animation I recall, its when she starts bringing her fan back.

You may have different results depending on the lag of your display, not sure.

Also if you can buffer the special move in at a consistent time, that sometimes helps.  I was doing cr.B, cr.A, then back, down-back, down+C, down-forward, forward + D.  I found it was somewhat consistent when I got into a rhythm.

Shermie and Blue Mary would make my life complete.  Been playing some KoF 98 and just love the way those characters play.

Also Lucky Glauber needs to come back with a f'in vengeance.  It'll happen!  :D

Do you mean X-Calibur super cancel V slasher?

If it's this just do qcb.P qcf hcb.P, there is no shortcut or whatever else, just a bit of training.

I did it with something like TK LP(IOH), hcb but only to down-back + LP, back + LP.  That's what the inputs looked like the first time.  And it combo'ed into instant overhead j.A, X-Calibur, V-Slasher.

I'll play with it some more, I figure it's either a) some weird shortcut that I need to figure out, or b) I gained enough meter for V-Slasher after X-Calibur hit that the Super just fired off.

I've accidentally combo'ed off an X-calibur into a V-slasher twice now, but I can't seem to replicate it, nor did I use the same style of inputs each time.  Is there a way to do this consistently?

You should re-post this in the Facebook group. There is daily activity in there.

What FB group is that?

A&C primarily uses PS3's, right?  Gotta figure out which stick to bring :)

Just saw this today so I missed last night's stream, but I'll tune in next week.  Good stuff.  Canadian KoF 13 content makes me happy...

Cool, I might show up to that tourney just for kicks... there's no way I'll be competitive :)

I think we should organize regular Lovegety meet ups, would any of you be interested in something like that? I believe that arcade experience is the key to levelling up our scene. Playing under high pressure situations will do that. There's always something at stake; you're putting your tokens on the line, the whole community is watching you and losing means you'll have to wait your turn to play again. We are very lucky to have a KOF XIII cab in our city and we should take full of advantage of it. For me, it'd also be a way of saying thank you to Lovegety's owner (aka "The Boss") for trying to keep the scene alive.

I was thinking it could be on Friday nights, since we're most likely to catch the interest of randoms who play KOF XIII but aren't active in the community yet. I'm open to suggestions, of course. We can also host arcade tournaments and ranbats with the Boss's permission once we as a community get more time with the game.

Thoughts?

Is the arcade version updated with console changes?

Training Room / Re: How to compose a team

Both Duolon and Athena can hold their own against most characters without much meter, it all depends on who you consider your best. As for Ryo, he's a great anchor when he has as much meter as possible, so that's a good choice.

In my opinion your team should be Duolon/Athena/Ryo in that order.

Thanks!  Good to know.  I'm new to this, and I still wasn't really sure how Athena played with/without meter.  Duo Lon is pretty fun on point, too.

Training Room / Re: Precision practice with combos and movement
« on: November 29, 2011, 07:38:32 PM »
I've never been any good at fighting games, but what's been really helping me lately with everything (SF, Marvel and now this) is to slow down my inputs.. like reeeeeeeeally slow, with no chance of the combo or move even working properly.  It helps me get proper muscle memory for the exact inputs, and then I gradually increase speed while maintaining input accuracy (I have input display on all the time when practicing)

For me, that method avoids any sort of mashing or tense feeling or improper inputs when doing anything.  Speed is something that you can easily practice and get better at, but if you're starting off with sloppy inputs for the sake of immediate speed, it can be more difficult to correct later on.

Hello,

Still trying to build my proper team, and this is the first KoF I've gotten into seriously.  So far I have Duo Lon, Athena, and Ryo (in that order).

Duo Lon and Athena seems like they'd both be good either with no meter, or with a bit of meter, so Ive been thinking about Athena first and Duo Lon second... not sure yet.

For my third spot, I like Ryo, but are there any other characters that would be better at taking advantage of a lot of meter?  He seems like he'd be a good solid character as anchor, but I just want to make sure I'm not passing on another, possibly better choice before I learn all these characters inside out :)

Noob question, but I'm wondering about the following hit-confirm combo:

- cr. B x2, f+B, dp+C

It hardly seems possible to link or chain a f+B from a cr. B considering how slow the startup animation is.. is this actually doable in the console version? :o  I can't seem to get it.  I've just been adding a st. A between cr. B and f+B.

Thanks.
