General Discussion / Re: Tier List
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:30:20 PM »
I know, but I still don't think Ryo is low tier.

I like everyone thinking Ryo and Terry are low tiers, that makes it even more enjoyable to kick their asses with them, he he.

I have to admit that I don´t really understand exactly how some of the shortcuts work.
For example, with Shen you can make qcf+P and leave K press to cancel geki-hen into tenrenken and viceversa.
But in some situations it just doesnt work, it thought it was a more consistent thing, but it is not, in some situations you just have to do it manually.
An example I found of this is the following:
HD mode: qcf+D (tenrenken) press A (geki), qcf+D (tenren) and the opponent goes into the air and now, 2 things can happen:
-if you make qcf+D and hit him really low, you press A and you get the geki and then repeat qcf+D
-if you make qcf+D and hit him higher, and press A the geki won´t come out.
In that situation there is not diferent in the attacks, the only difference is if you hit the opponent closer to the ground, but that shouldnt affect the shourtcut, regular tenrenken is a 1 hit attack and if it hits the cancel should come out right away, the geki would probably miss, but that is not the point. The point is there seem to be little things that make the shortcut "available" or not.

Pro-Gear / Re: Fight Sticks?
« on: December 13, 2011, 08:09:16 PM »
I ordered a Hori Real Arcade Pro v3 SA last night! I also need to order 2 Qanba white plugs to get rid of those pesky unnecessary buttons.

Good for you!
I was going to ordered from arcade shock the Qanba or the Hori RAPV3SA, but I found a place in my country that had one remaining unit of the Hori, so I got it.
It is really hard for me to adjust since I got used to the pad, I haven´t played with stick since the SF2 days, but I have to admit that now I see why the top players preferred this type of thing, it is a whole new world. You have an unmatched level of precision on each imput.
Now I just need to train to be ready for EVO.

Clark Still / Re: Clark Still (Console)

I have been hitting practice mode with him, I think I might try using him for real.
What is the deal with the NM? Does it have invencibility or at least goes throgh fireballs?

I have been playing kof XI for years (until XIII console was released) and I am 100% sure you can tech throws while on recovery frames of a block attach also.
Throws hace always been the worst option to punish recovery.

As a expected, you get a new pic by finishing arcade mode with the FF 1 rival team (Billy, Hwa & Rayden).
It is a pic with the FF cpu characters. You can see Tung, Richard, Geese, Rayden, Billy, Hwa & Michael.

Finally we get something about this characters!!!
The neomaxes were so so, but it is cool to confirm that Mr Karate has a new stance (his old one, actually).

Word of advice to all those players who did not play the game in the arcades, spend some time in practice mode because this game handles a bit different than any KOF you played before.

Like most of you i did not get a change to play the game in the arcades, and i have played every single entry of the KOF games before also like most of you i spend the days before i got the game playing 02UM and now im playing XIII, i played for a few hours yesterday and i gotta tell you fellas at first i was not able to get anything to come out, me being a vet in this game i thought that maybe there was something wrong either with me or the game but it was simply the flow of the game is quite different than other KOFs ive played before, by the end of my time with the game i was able to get things to come out much better and i know that the more i play and the more used to the system i get things will get better.

So for those of you who have played KOF before but have not played XIII at all give yourself sometime to get used to the flow of the game, as it has its own rhythm. see you guys online.

This is great advice. I felt the exact same way. I got the game yesterday morning and had the same issue (plus, I have a new ps3 pad wich is still realllly stiff, I tried one at my friend's and I could perform the cancels without problems, but with my pad, can´t do shit yet).
One thing that is also different and takes time to adjust to is that the short hop travels more than in previos games. If you are close to a crouching opponent and you perform a hop you will end up in the other side. Also, in order to combo when falling from a Jump, you have to really do it at the last time, otherwise it won´t combo.
This is extrematelly important cause as we all know, short hops are one of the key elements of KOF. This means that in this game can´t just presure some by staying close to him and doing short hops, you need to control the space more. It is actually better but it takes time to get used to.

Just to point out something that Musolini said. If you can indeed pull off the hard combos in KOF98 and 2k2, it should be no problem doing the ones in this game. To me, the games feels just a little bit more strict than KOFXI. And if you guys played XI, one of the things it was praised for was that it was easier to do the heavy combos in that game compared to the previous entries.
Yes, it was easier. Since I have been playing that until recently (always on team vs, no tag bullshit for me) it is kinda hard to adjust but just takes time.

All I'm gonna say is this game is full of details. I was watching some of the characters anymations and it is remarkable. Also it is amazing all the work they put to the voices. I won with Iori againts Kyo and he said with anger Sono mama Shine, Kyo!!!. The game is full of stuff like that. This time, they have really delivered and amazing product.
Also, as it was previously mentioned, the instruction manual comes in full colour, and has some nice SD/chibbi images of some characters.
Oh, and Billy looks awesome, his stance is kinda still but the rest of the animations that he has are awesome (like when he walks forward, for example).

Nagare: Wait, you can unlock the extended intro? The one where elisabeth cries?

Well, Gunsmith played it from the gallery, so I assumed you had to unlock it somehow.

26
Sibarraz, did you unlocked the extended intro?
If so, do you know how to do it?

27
Thanks for all the feedback, Sibarraz.
I can´t wait to have this game!!!!!!!!!!

28
Ok something random, I was playing my 10th player match, and suddenly esaka 96 appeared

It's a cool stage, even has a night version where a crossdresser appears lol

Interesting and weird.
I can only think of 2 possibilities. Either the stage is available at the PSN store and the other user bought it, wich sounds really wierd cause I haven´t heard anyone mentioning anything about any DLC content yet, or maybe the stage just randomly appears as some kind of teaser for Ex Kyo (that reminds me of Reptile from MK 1).
Sibarraz, since you mentioned the online, can you give us some feedback about that also?

29
I really love the fact that the game includes a full colour manual, something that is rarely seen these days. That alone deserves some praise.

SNK taking it back to the old skool.

Yeah. Old school for ever, man.
I am literally dying to have this game in my hands, damn.
Let´s see what we get tomorrow with the blog update.
