I am 28.
Started with Street Fighter II and played a loooooot of fighters from the golden 2D era.
I wasnt very fond of KOF, I played it casually because a friend like it and the gameplay was ok, but I was more of a Capcom guy.
After some time, I ended up realizing that KOF was the most complex thing ever.

King of Fighters XI / Re: What is general opinion about Kof XI anyway?
« on: March 29, 2011, 11:45:26 PM »Hello I'm new. I finally found SNK community so I decided to join here then.
I love KOF XI. I also have 98UM and 2002, but they just don't feel as good as XI.
My only problem with this game is that I just can't find suitable team. I play against CPU all the the time (I live in Finland and there is zero arcades here and not good fighting game community. To make things even worse, I live in little place and its population is 3828) and my friends played fighting last time in PlayStation era (or Smash Bros. Brawl... yuck).
So my problem is finding a good team. Main problem is the third character and choosing a leader. My preferred team is Kyo, Iori (leader) and Terry. Kyo rocks in this game, Iori is simple, but Terry's moveset isn't that good as in 2002. So I must choose another character to replace Terry. I'm a bit aggressive player that relies on simple combos. Kensou, Athena, Shingo or Shen are strong canditades, so what do you think about them?
I got to tell you, Terry is a MONSTER.
People don´t usually play him very well, but he is AMAZING. I kick epic ass with him. He is full of really terrible weapons.
Unfortunatelly I cannot record matches from my PS2, otherwise I would show you how frustrating he can be.

KOF is da shit!!!
The reason why, is because it is extrematelly DEEP.
It will take a long time to really master the style, cause there are a lot of things to learn.
You have to learn how to use each tool works, againts others and againts yourself.
I can say I pretty much reached my top level, but still, sometimes I learn a little here and there.
Good thing is if you are new to KOF and you like it so far, it only gets better from now on.

I already mentioned it, but I don´t really like long juggles so I would still like that to be tone down. Everytime I see Elisabeth's doing his Etanseru over and over again in the corner I feel like punching the monitor.
But honestly, what I really want now is a fucking announcement.

I know he lost his EX bug, but is there that big of a difference where people dont want to play him anymore? and did anybody notice in that latest video that goro tried to do his ground pound move and lost ALL his meter?
I think Goro was hit while he was doing his neo max.
About Takuma...I really don´t know.
Even after the EX bug, he looks like a really solid character, maybe he is not appearing in the videos but is still being played. I know he will be one of the first characters I will try. The old guy kicks ass.

For the last two vids, l2slythe (aka Mr. Green aka Reynald) and Mr. Kof did them. I think I did 1 or 2 but they may or may not be uploaded (coz I think they were earlier matches).

« on: October 31, 2010, 10:13:35 PM »Hey, my name is Paul and I am a KOF newbie. I dabbled awhile ago in Garou for a bit but I have never seriously tried to learn an game from SNK before. With the release of KOF2002UM on 360, I figured it would be as good a time as any to give the franchise a shot and get some experience before KoFXIII comes to consoles.
So far, I have mostly been messing around with Leona and randoming other characters until I find a composition I like. I first went to the KOF2002UM subforum to look for information; however, it is a little sparse. So, any pointers or links you provide on learning the game and playing Leona would be greatly appreciated.

This is gonna sound kind of stupid and obvious, but the best way to learn KOF is to actually play with good players.
If the online works as everyone is hoping, try to play againts as many people as possible.
THEY WILL KICK YOUR ASS, but it is the only way. There are a lot of things that made KOF an extrematelly complex game such as the different kind of jumps you can perform, not to mention the roll. You will have to learn when to pressure someone, how to avoid being pressured, how to get away from certain things, how to counter, etc. There is a lot of speculation in KOF, A LOT.
I've been playing fighting games since the dawn of the genre, at first I was not really fond of KOF, but I played it anyway. After some time and different games, I finally reach the conclusion that it is one of the most complex fighting games ever, wich is what makes it incredible. Plus, the characters have a lot of personality.
As I mentioned before, if you play with someone that knows what he's doing, they will kick your ass. Don´t be discouraged and keep challenging other players and you will eventually get it.

About a classic Iori, well....I am a Iori player since day one so of course I would love that.
But I am not so sure they are gonna do it. Maybe they just wanna wait for the next game to do that (since acording to the storyline he got the magatama back), and then or in a future dream match just put the 2 Iori's in the game.
I would love to have a Garou Terry, in fact, I like it more than the original. But I can understand why they went back to the old Terry with XII, I mean, it is a classic.
I am still wondering if there will be secret characters, since this time they have to make it back from scratch.
