Social Club / SO what has SNKP been up to lately?
« on: April 05, 2013, 07:13:09 AM »
I sorta quit playing KOF13 and went back to MK9 and Garou. I still love this company but I haven't followed much of what they have done since 2 months after the console release of KOF13.

Have they announced any plans to make new games for any of their series? Or have they pretty much gone quiet and not said much when it comes to the videogame section of the company?

Pro-Gear / The Pre-paid phone carriers are stepping up their games
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:51:35 AM »
Just found out that Virgin mobile is offering the Evo 3D, which was one of the best phones a little than a year ago and now Cricket is taking preorders for the iPhone. Meanwhile, Boost Mobile is going to be getting the iPhone4/S by the fall and will soon be taking pre orders for it aswell.

I'd figure they would eventually start offering more powerful phones on their services but I thought we were maybe 2-3 years away from seeing the iPhone on a prepaid carrier. I'm sure it wont reach the speeds as the contract versions but still, big win for these companies.

General Discussion / KOF13 or KOF2k2UM?
« on: May 18, 2012, 08:22:36 PM »
Ok, I think the console version of 13 has been out long enough to ask this question. We all knew it was coming sooner or later and the reason it is asked is because I remember a lot of people recommending 2k2UM as a good starting point if you wanted to try 13. And why not? Both games system's are almost identical and it's just the most logical choice to pit both games against each other. And let's not forget, KOF13 has been hailed by the FGC for being one of those fighting games this generation where it does not stray at all from what made the older games very good and it is not looked at as an "easy" game compared to others out on the market.

Now that 13 has been out long enough, which do you think is the better game?

And as an extra if you guys don't mind, would you please explain if you've had a hard time going back to 2k2UM after playing 13 or vice versa? Do you still prefer one game over the other or do you still dabble in both equally?

It's basically free Netflix with 15-20 second ads every 30 or so minutes. I don't know if it's on the PS3 network aswell but I do not know since I do not own a PS3. If it is on the PS3 network, someone let the others know. Cheers!

Pro-Gear / Sega Saturn Pad
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:29:56 AM »
So I just found one of those coveted Sega Saturn pads at my local gaming store and bought it for $10. Now, I don' have a Saturn to play games with but I just wanted it because I've heard so many good things about it. After having it in my hands, I can see why it has such a great reputation as being a great fightpad.

However, does anyone know of anyone that has ever modded one to work for today's systems? I'm mainly an Xbox player and from the looks of it, I seriously doubt a 360 pad PCB would fit in this thing.

Pro-Gear / Anyone know what are the minimum PC requirements to run GGPO?
« on: December 22, 2011, 12:04:26 AM »
I'm seriously considering just making myself a cheap ass PC so I can play some GGPO. does anyone know what the minimum requirements are to run GGPO?

And if you have to ask, I do have a laptop but it's a Mac and I've tried running GGPO on a dual booting XP but to no avail.

Classic King of Fighters / What is this all about?
« on: May 18, 2011, 06:20:19 PM »
I was just running through Youtube and stumbled upon this --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA1-rzwlULc&feature=channel_video_title

Anyone have any idea what this was about? there are only about 6 comments in the page and some of them are saying that it's some Chinese copy of 12 but I've never heard of such a copy existing.

I hardly ever play fighting games online these days but I did have a friend over the other day who got some interest in playing NGBC. After playing some offline he jumped into the online part of the game and from his impressions, he said that NGBC had some of the best netcode he's experienced for a fighter on a console. And this is a buddy who mainly plays fighters online whenever he gets the chance.

Now, I haven't played any of the SF4 games so I don't know how the netcode is for that game. I played BBCS maybe one week and hated the netcode on it. Never really took Tekken 6 online except with a friend from Florida and the netcode was ok at most. After that, I initially played some 2k2UM with people from DC.com but I've mainly played it offline for months now.

But anyways, does NGBC have some of the best netcode on a fighting game right now?

character design was pretty much taken from the concept art of Serious Mr. Karate from SvC Chaos? finally got to see this Oni character and Serious Mr. Karate was the first thing that jumped to my head when I saw him.

I have an opportunity to buy a Neo Geo cabinet and if I do buy it, I may gut it and build a supergun just to save space. However, I don't know if I would want to get rid of the cab and was thinking if it's possible to fit the KOF13 software into the cab itself? Now, I have no idea what the software and hardware(minus cab) for 13 looks like so this is just an idea.

Would this be possible? Do they even sell the 13 unit by itself along with the software or does it need to be in a specific cab? If they do sell it minus the cab, how much is it?

General Fighting Game Discussion / How exactly do tournament brackets work?
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:25:58 PM »
I get how they work until after the winners and losers brackets are done with. Why is it that the winner of losers gets to face the winner of the winners side for the Grand Final?

Also, how is seeding determined?

I never played the game so I can't form an opinion of it. However, what I have seen from videos it seems like it's almost too easy to get caught into combos and the characters to me just don't seem very interesting.

Is there a reason why this game seems to get crapped on a lot? I'm pretty sure the majority of GG players hate it which would be no shock to me.
