Their twitter says 6/2 PST so it looks like it's back to Thursday trailers for us.

General Discussion / Re: My thoughts on KOFXIV (24 character build)

Thanks for the impressons Desmond, and great job on the commentary.

It's strange to hear that running is slower when it has looked much faster since day 1. Iirc even Xian mentioned in his interview that the ground movement was faster in XIV.

Also, Kim hasn't lost his hit confirms off of low B. During the Stunfest stream people were doing 2 to 3 cr.B's before st.B into ff+A.

Overall Kim has received adjustments to some of the things that made him a menace in XIII but all of that is getting offset by XIV's core mechanics. He's going to be damn good again.

I'm also sort of glad to hear that the throw game is being nerfed, in particular due to the over-reliance on throws in SFV.

New video:

Chin's drink cap is now 10.

Other changes:

- He has an EX version of drinking, stocks 2 drinks in one go
- The D overhead seems to cause a knockdown now, so no more combos after it

I need some Kensou news in my life!

He's not in the new build so you'll probably have to wait for his team's trailer, which will be released like 8 or 9 weeks from now lol.

As for rush combos, could they damage KOFXIV's reputation? In other words, did Persona 4 Ultimate/Ultimax get a bad reputation because of them? I know nothing about their reception within the FGC in terms of competition value.

Nope, if anything rush combos will help it when it comes to new players.

For tournament play they are a non issue, as could be easily seen at Stunfest.

That music is so good, feels like it's straight out of Vash the Stampede, which makes me like it even more.

Joe feels like he was heavily influenced by the team members from the old Fatal Fury days.

Thanks for the link Shiranui, it was mostly him teaching her how to play but you could still see some cool stuff.

Nelson is looking very, very cool. Some of the follow ups he did out of his chains:

- overhead
- low
- command throw
- launcher (lets Nelson juggle with a special or do resets)
- command dash forward
- back dash
- cork screw punch unblockable (he winds up for a second before releasing it, causes a full on guard break if the opponent is blocking and let's Nelson do a full follow up combo).

Terry is looking awesome in XIV as well, Frionel mentioned that he is a lot more technical now. From what I've noticed across the various streams regarding his shoulder Power Charge move:

- Light version: leaves Terry positive on hit and let's him link a normal (the player was able to link a far st. B).

- Hard version: launcher, let's Terry juggle with a Rising Tackle etc.

- EX version: has guard point on start up and causes wall bounce on hit.

The Stunfest stream was great, the best level of play yet.

They really went nuts with max mode activations lol, they were happening left and right.

A lot of cool stuff happened, hopefully someone puts together a highlight video.

Maybe Ryo can finish the the combo differently. Instead of the DP finish, how about DP super cancel into haoshokoken.

And in XIV can you super cancel EX moves into DM/EXDM?

Iirc you can't super cancel EX moves in XIV, it was mentioned on one of the Japanese streams and I haven't seen anyone do it in a match.

As for Ryo, in that combo you can supercancel the DP at the end into an EX ranbu. A few guys did it on today's stream and it did some sweet damage.

The game speed increases by a lot when experienced players are playing, much like with KOFXIII.

And yeah, the Mature CDM is sweet. It's great seeing them incorporate her classic pose with the mirror:

That Ryo damage: https://www.twitch.tv/gaminglive_tv1/v/67178503?t=01h59m27s

About 50% for 1 power bar.

Looks more like a new normal or special.

So Goro has his ukemi or roll move. Never understood point of that. Did Shingo have something similar?

Daimon's roll moves were really good in XIII. The heavy version has invincibility and travels further than a normal evasion roll but the light version of the roll is what made the magic happen for Daimon in that game.

Unlike the heavy version, the light version had no invincibility but it could be cancelled into any of his special moves at any point in the animation, this let him extend the range on all his command grabs, and combos with command grabs, by a lot.

Just to give you an example of the range that he gains on his grabs, you can EX super grab an opponent from the starting position of the round if you cancel into it immediately from a light command roll.

You can cancel the animation of the roll so fast that you can barely even see it happen.

The EX version of the roll was the best of both worlds, had full invincibility like the heavy version and was fully cancellable like the light version.

Was hoping for more, it was basically a daimon reveal. After seeing Ryo in the tournament we kinda know characters probably have game properties and combo's from XIII. Wonder why SNK chose to show so little. These are the new trailers basically.

I'm still hype for the game, I just wanted to see more official combos. I know the revealed a couple, but I wanted to see Kyo's EX qcf C property.

They kept things simple not to scare off newer players I assume, and players who were put off by XIII's execution and long combos.

Yeah Billy's Climax DM caught me off guard the first time I saw it, it's so good and so Billy.

Terry's CDM turns into a classic looking power dunk if done against an airborne opponent instead of the regular CDM animation btw.
