His dp+B move is AN EXCELLENT anti air. A lot of people doesn't know about this. It comes out instantly and NEVER trades. It is super effective against those characters who have very high priority jumps such as Kasumi's, Chris(both normal and Orochi versions) , Nameless, Chang and whatever. This move must be ABUSED as it is one of the best underated anti airs moves in the game.

Another anti air is his weird Down C , if you do it early enough against hoppers , you will win most of the time.But your best bet is your dp+B move as it is still the BEST anti air.

Against certain characters who pokes a lot  , for instance like Beni's Far B and Far C , Ralf's Far C or basically any character's attack that pokes upwards , you can just simply counter that with his Crouching D. ;)  Kyo's 1 crouching D  is super fast making it one of the best sweeps in the game.

Chin's easiest and practical BC combo with 3 stocks

Close C , BC , run , Close C , dp+C (a few hits, I cannot recall exactly how many) , supercancel in to qcfx2 AC .

Damage wise is so so. Also remember to drink one sake (rdp+A or C) in order for the dp+C move to come out.

If you manage to trip enemy with Chang's down D , karacancel immediately into his spinning ball thingy with A and stop it with ABCD and then do his down down B stomp.  it will link and get two hits. This works anywhere in the screen even if the enemy recovery rolls from his or her fall. :)

How do you guys do Heidern's BC combo at   the corner? During max mode i have huge trouble cancelling Moonslasher into crosscutter  as seen in most combo videos and versus videos. :(    Not only that, but during max mode, I have trouble doing down A in to moonslasher too most of the times because instead of moonslasher , almost all the time i always get storm bringer! :(   I hope someone can help me on this and give a good transcript of the combo as I don't have a console to practice as i only train in the arcades

Yeah that Neomax damage is little like crazy but it is the only  unblockable so called command grab of his. I see the experts use them sparingly  against block happy opponents once in a while a least to get some damage.

Other than that offensively, he has to resort  offensively(and abuse)  with his limited block strings in order to guard crush turtlers. But frankly to say his block strings do very little impact on the opponent's guard bar as it will take quite a while to guard crush  .  But he doesn't have much choices due to his limited moves and mixups, therefore if somehow or another if the clock is ticking a few seconds before time out  and your opponent is leading by a bit more health and starts blocking all the way ( even if his health is so much more depending on your judgement whether you want to conserve stocks or not for the next round) , just do it.  

You have no other choice cuz if you were to do block strings or walk towards and throw him , it doesn't have much effect since he is in blocking mode and he has way more health than you. So do the neomax!

If it is your last character with a few seconds on the clock , don't hesitate to do the NEOMAX  as this is the ONLY AVAILABLE option to do the maximum damage on a very short space of time against A VERY BLOCK HAPPY opponent .

Duolon is not a grappler nor he has a normal command grab of his own, yes you may complain that his NEOMAX is very useless on the damage scale,  but you will be surprise that even the experts will be caught  in it  once in a while or from time to time.

In this version of kof 13 when you are using Ryo, you can actually wait for the oppoent to jump towards you ,  counter that by doing a dp+C (one hit) and immediately super cancel into his  qcf hcb + P DM.   This teaches them not to be so jumpy for long.

Sorry for late reply Kane, anyway that is correct , always cancel Fwd A into qcb+B into Fwd B in order for them to link . 100% percent confirm.  You can also cancel Fwd A into qcb+B into EX Fwd B+D too.

His forward A can be empty cancel into qcb B / D for keepaway and spacing.  You can use forward A and empty cancel into qcf B / D to close in your opponent and continue on the offense. But of course use it sparingly.   Or do fwd A and empty cancel to fwd+B , to make the opponent block. Mix up these tactics randomly to confuse your opponent.

But never do fwd A and empty cancel into qcb A / C smoke against any decent  player who knows how to play kof 13 , they will simply jump in and give you a big fat combo!

Thanks Kane! anyway i want to add a very damaging bread of butter of Kyo in the corner with one drive cancel guage and one powerstock. In corner only , very damaging .


Jump A / B / C / D  ,  Near C , df + D(one hit) (optional and depending on distance) , qcf D (2hits) ,  rdp+ B , and super cancel immediately into air qcb , hcf  + P  DM , as Kyo lands , do qcf + A fireball , when it connects , do hcb + B . End of combo.


This  combo is really damaging while at the same time you are storing your power meter at the same time too. Very useful in versus.  I can't recall how many points worth of damage but it is really very meaty and painful to eat this.

An advanced combo of K' that a few of the top players in SG do in practice mode and EVEN in versus


Jump C or D (optional) , Near C (one hit) , fwd A , BC autodash, Near D , EX qcb BD , qcb D slide followup (whiff) ,      [ dp A (one hit) , HD cancel to qcb D , qcb D slide(whiff) ] x2  ,  dp A (one hit ) , HD cancel to qcf C and followup with fwd D ,  after immediately do fwd A , after it hits , do Dp C (3hits) , then HD cancel into air qcb B. As K lands and touches the ground, do dp A (one hit) and HD cancel into qcf C , and followup with fwd D, then immediately do fwd A again , after it connects , do EX qcf , hcb AC   immediately.


Damage wise for 3 stocks is a lot on this one with a full hyperdrive meter, can be done from midscreen to the corner with no problem. Happy practicing !

Note: While you are in HD mode and if you want to do from Dp A (one hit)  and HD cancel into qcf C , just use this shortcut to prevent the DM qcf qcf C to come out.

Like this : Do Dp A (one hit ) as per normal while you are in HD mode , and very fastly  input fwd + C   in order for qcf +C to come out. Never fails! :)

It is quite sad to hear that K' does not have much love here, I am gonna put in more info.


K's bread and butter MUST KNOW combo in versus and can be done anywhere.

1)Jump C or D (optional) , down B , qcf A , fwd D ,  as opponent lands do qcb D , follow by another  qcb D (the slide one and WHIFF) , dp A (one hit) , drivecancel into EX qcb B+D ,  qcb D ( the slide one and   whiffs) ,  Dp+ C


This combo is very damaging using just one powerstock and one drive cancel. It is so much worth it compared to supercancelling dp A ( 2 hits) into his qcf qcf  + P DM.You can compared the damage if you don't believe.  Almost every top player in my arcade use this combo.
