General Discussion / Positive Edge
July 11, 2012, 07:57:40 PM
Who else has heard of this?

I think I heard someone mention it during the Evo stream, it's when you hold the button down longer than normal and it does something funny with the frames. I guess Bala coined the the term because he considered it the opposite of Negative Edge.

I tried it the other day with Daimon, and it worked surprisingly well with his dp command grab into qcb roll shown in Trial 6. This could be especially useful for HD combos.

I digress, who uses this, and for who and what tactics?

General Discussion / Re: "The List"

I would be interested to see a tier list that explained that strengths of each character in each position.

I.e.

King on Point
King on Mid
King on Anchor so on and so forth.

Team based tier charts would be sweet.

I wish Sega would do a real Phantasy Star game.

Once you pry their cold dead fingers away from Sonic's cock.

Too bad neither Sega or Sonic have one anymore.

People have posted good questions on here already.

I'm proud of Mad Kof and Cafe Id for making a good effort at EVO this year.

These questions is mainly for Cafe Id as a whole.

- Will there be anymore videos from Cafe Id posted up?

MadKOF has a youtube channel if you didn't already know.

http://www.youtube.com/user/MADKoF13

Enjoy.

Does it have the makings of a classic fighter that will be consistently played for 10 years? Yes I think so. It's still young and being explored and people are still having fun with it.

Will it be a tournament standard for that long? Probably not just because there's many fighters coming out, but if for the next 10 years every new fighter is too niche or underperforms and the publisher can't buy it's way to tournaments than it has a decent chance.

SF4 is still popular but it's becoming less so among the die hards as people start to figure it out and people get tired of it's playstyle. Marvel might become passe' in the next few years once everything about it is figured out.

The thing with Marvel 3 is, it's going to be dissected by the same people that played Marvel 2, and that is another 10 year game.

Smash is a fighting game series.

There are two problems however.

1.Items.

Injustice is going to use items from the background in the game, which means it would have to fall under similar scrutiny in this category. And we all know it's a fighting game.

2. Ringouts

Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur have ringouts, just like Smash.

We forgot a really important question!

What's the story behind the CafeID table?

XD

This is a good one too. I assume it just has something to do with being comfortable, then again they did have like, a mini booth next to the table that they hung stuff on IIRC.

Injustice - 15 Minutes of Gameplay EVO 2012

Phantasy Star is like the Sci-Fi version of Ys to me for some reason.

Injustice lookin' real good. WAY better than MKvsDCU already.

That's a really good one, could possibly give some insight into how they see the game.

Things like that really depend on the quality of the game and the experience it delivers.  As long as XIII delivers something that other fighting games don't, there will be people playing it, just like there are still people playing 98 and 02.  KOF fans will play it for a long time and its popularity might increase as older KOF players migrate to it.

I still hope there will be a UM version with 20 more characters and a better online.  If that comes out (or XIV, assuming it's just as good), then a lot of people will move on to that.  But if SNKP disappeared tomorrow, I think people would still play XIII for years.

This.

People still play Turbo and the game almost 20 years old for god's sake.
The game will be safe for future generations, I'm sure.  ;)

I feel your pain, my girlfriend bought me CvS2 for my birthday last year for my PS2, not even one round in and the game froze.

I was beyond angry.

Gamestop can go die.
